  1. Of the three calls I've heard complained about since I got here, that no-call pass interference was the first one to be actually wrong.
  2. I *love* the call to squeeze the play in. If you are professional football offense and you can't squeeze in a quick slant in six seconds, you deserve to lose.
  3. It's 13.9 games into the season and I still can't decide if this team is good or not.
  4. Exactly what this team deserves, even if not what I wanted.
  5. I don't think the Bears have had a Franchise QB in my lifetime Shane Matthews. You didn't specify NFL-caliber arm.
  6. Not a chance :( 21-20 or not at all
  7. Every time a team makes that play call against the Bears in a key situation, God kills a kitten. I won't miss that kitten.
  8. Every play is key here now. Hold them to the field goal and make them eat a few minutes as well. We win this game 21-20 or not at all. (or stop them on this fourth down!)
  9. Right call, dumb rule. Defense needs to step up or shut up.
  10. Which he did. Then when did it pop loose? When his elbow hit the ground. That's part of the fall.
  11. I think no catch under the rule as written. The rule as written is stupid, though.
  12. Which he did. Then when did it pop loose?
  13. The rule is fairly simple, iirc: Possession must be maintained *through* hitting the ground.
  14. What's the rule on this? He caught it with possession, but I think the rule is you have to maintain possession through the fall.
  15. I typed this before the stupid fake punt :(
  16. It's amazing how many games the Bears can stay in almost purely on special teams
  17. I'd say intelligent use is the single best remedy. There aren't too many important innings for a handful of important pitchers, but there are lots of unimportant innings you can slog off on some worthless guy's arm.
  18. At that point though Piazza wasn't going to push us over the edge. Peavy probably is that piece. That's where we disagree. For all the regression to the mean I expect from next year's Cubs, they are still the best team in the Central division. And if there is something inherent to this team that keeps them from winning in the playoffs, lack of a superstar starter isn't it.
  19. Granted it wasn't this board, but I remember about a decade ago when the consensus was "give him whatever he wants, it's Mike Piazza for goodness sake!", and Kerry Wood was the hangup.
  20. Funny how people can come to the same conclusions and disagree on so much. Losing DeRosa doesn't bother me, a Fontenot-based platoon can match his projected 2009 production, maybe even improve on it when you include defense. Losing Marshall doesn't bother me, Marquis and Samardzija is plenty. Losing Vitters bothers me, and the payroll commitment to Peavy bothers me.
  21. an unpopular opinion we share. I personally can't wait for this. It's fun. It's competitive baseball in March. Some people hate fun. (I hope they've fixed the stupid rule setup where it actually makes sense for teams to avoid scoring runs).
  22. well, the rule U draft was yesterday, so today maybe? 5.0
  23. But there are holes deeper than Jason Marquis.
  24. But given that I agree the rotation has a chance to step back, I think the offense with a real RFer will be more than enough to win 90+ games with a merely decent rotation, and this division is awful, and there's a chance for the rotation to be much better than decent.
  25. #-o lol so basically it's like... if two of our 3 best starters suck and/or get hurt, our rotation is questionable. cool.. Yes. And one has a history of sucking and the other has a history of getting hurt. But I'm sure 2008 was their *real* ability level.
