  1. But if they join along with aTm and Okie State, and Texas Tech the Texas 4 with the two Oklahoma schools will be placed in a division with the two Arizona schools to form a Western division so it's really not much different than what they are doing now.
  2. The SEC does have some interest in Va Tech. While Miami, Ga Tech, Clemson, and Florida State have also been mentioned, from what my booster friend told me he's heard, the SEC doesn't think they add anything to the conference as far as expanding viewerships. If they want to keep up with what the Big Ten and Pac-10 are doing, the SEC feels it needs to expand into areas where they don't already have a foothold. Florida is already covered as is Georgia and South Carolina. Adding aTm would be huge in expanding into Texas and Duke and UNC would add North Carolina in addition to making the SEC a more lucrative conference when it comes to basketball. Missouri would probably be the fourth choice, though there is an eye toward Kansas. Also, there's been some talk that Va Tech and Virginia won't be separated, but who knows for sure. I don't completely trust this guy. He's in the know, but I also think he exaggerates and represents his opinion as coming from other stuff he's heard, but if you believe him...the SEC's choices would be 1. aTm 2. UNC 3. Duke 4. Missouri (Getting those would easily allow the conference to add two schools to the east and two to the west without any reallingment. Failing that, the other schools that would be considered: Va Tech, Kansas, West Virginia, Clemson, Miami, Florida State, Ga Tech, and TCU. Oh, I should have added that really aTm and Oklahoma were the preferred two in the beginning, but it appears Oklahoma preferred the Pac-10 from the beginning and so the SEC will have to look elsewhere.
  3. Old Style, Which way is aTm leaning from what you are hearing?

  5. I'm not really answering your question. However, to say the Pac 10 is an academically strong conference isn't the entire story. It rivals South Africa for inequality from best/richest to worst/poorest. At the top, it's possibly to probably the strongest power conference academically. From top to bottom, it completely lacks depth. It has four outstanding universities (Stanford, Berkeley, UCLA, USC), one very good (Washington), four decent/average (Arizona, Washington State, Oregon, Arizona State) and one poor (Oregon State). I see absolutely no reason Kansas wouldn't fit academically, especially when the conference is considering Texas freakin' Tech (and Okie State for that matter). What's so bad about Oregon State? According to USNWR, they're a tier 3 institution. Snood, how would you feel about Kansas in the SEC with aTm, UNC, and Duke?
  6. I've heard that same rumor (Duke/UNC) from the many college football sites I visit. The gut feeling is that there is a REAL possibility that Duke/UNC coud come to the SEC for the reverse reason why the SEC wants them to come. Duke/UNC would come to the SEC for the football prestige, whereas the SEC wants them for their basketbal prestige. Also, adding Duke, UNC, and aTm would greatly increase the academic prestige as well.
  7. Missouri fans may appreciate this rumor...and it is only a rumor. I heard the SEC (if aTM chooses to split from Texas and join) would then seek to add Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill to the east and aTM and Missouri (or possibly Kansas) to the west. That would make them not only the premiere football conference but also the top basketball conference as well. Rumor has it that UNC is interested, especially if Duke is willing to come along. Take all of that with a huge grain (hell make it a lump) of salt, but I heard it from an LSU booster who has some other connections throughout the SEC.
  8. Vince Young is the prime suspect in an investigation of an assault that took place at a Dallas strip club. Link
  9. because people don't really care anymore it seems. they've accepted this train wreck -- Sat Jun 12, 2010 9:59 pm -- No, that's he main problem. He's never right. And what the hell are you talking about with Chicago blaming Steve Stone? I don't think the city of Chicago necessarily blames him for anything, but it seems like all the hatred toward him spewed from the whole debacle in 2004 with Dusty and some of the players. i think it's the opposite of that. im pretty sure most people were on his side for that. people started hating him after he left and started opening his mouth and acting like he was god. he tries soooooooo hard to get everyone on his side and against the cubs. basically he's just an extremely bitter and petty person. Its really too bad it all went down like that, especially when it ended by a confrontation with a piece of crap like Kent Mercker. Ston really loved the Cubs. Not to Ron Santo like extremes, but he was a true fan. What he was saying about the 2004 train wreck that got him in trouble was all true as well. I really wish he could just get over it at this point. If you ever watch him and Hawk broadcasting, he's not nearly as passionate about the Sox as he was about the Cubs. Let's just say that if we have Steve Stone on one side and Kent Mercker on the other and polled people in and out of baseball who was the piece of crap, I think Stone ends up being the whole pile of crap 3/4ths of the time.
  10. Are you suggesting on the 4th we won't have trouble finding a place to sit in the bleachers?
  11. If the Pac-10 expands to 14 and tries to get an automatic BCS bid for both division champs, I could see the SEC expanding to 14 and demanding the same.
  12. If I'm not mistaken, Wells still has options. Rather than send Wells to the bullpen, if he needs to be removed from the rotation, he should be sent to Iowa to work through his troubles as a starter.
  13. I'm hoping when the dust settles that aTm ends up in the SEC. The SEC could then add three of Ga Tech, Miami, Florida State, Virginia Tech, or Clemson. I think I would like to seen aTM, Clemson, Ga Tech, and either Miami or Florida State myself.
  14. After the hack last week, some buttons do not appear on all versions. Switch the one you are using and the buttons may return.
  15. The bleacher seats are spoken for... I still have the two bullpen box seats.
  16. I have 2 extra bullpen box sec 34 row A tickets for Saturday July 3. The price on these bad boys was 200 bones plus the 12% tax which comes to $225 per ticket or $450 for the pair. So, yeah expensive but it is the first row and you'd be sitting next to Fred and me. That in itself carries a certain level of value. I'd prefer to sell these as a pair, but if you only want one, let me know and maybe there are two people out here that only want one and then I'd break them up. Also, I have three extra bleacher seats for July 4. The price I paid for those was $51 plus the 12% tax ($57 per ticket). You could sit with Fred and me again there, but being GA you could also pretend not to know us. For the bleachers, I'd sell as a single, pair, or all three. Hit me up if your interested.
  17. I can't help but take a little bit of pleasure in watching USC get slapped down.
  18. I can't believe we've gone this long without dusting off a chestnut. So here goes...
  19. I hope this happens. Sandberg was my favorite player. If he manages the Cubs, sooner or later, the fans (and maybe even me) will turn on him. I don't want to see that happen. He can go to Baltimore. I don't care about the Orioles, but could wish him well in the AL. When he sucks and the Oriole fans turn on him, it won't matter to me. Then he would be a failed manager and the Cubs won't look his way.
  20. Zambrano looks like feces tonight. It's going to be a long night for me in Houston.
  21. If Cashner can help this team win more games in the pen, I'm all for it. If it means they will send Bob Howry packing, I'm doubly for it.
