  1. Wow...that was a fun game. I have no voice left and nearly got into a fight with an aggie, but man was it fun!
  2. My guess is Carolina takes Bowers or Green. Peterson could be an option too, I guess. Fairley...maybe if he has good workouts at the combine.
  3. Where the rookie pay scale could affect these guys is it means to make the big bucks, players need to get to FA as quickly as possible as the money will be in the second contract. By staying in school, he loses a year on that track.
  4. I wonder how much they're paying him to get him to stay...
  5. Fox will be the Giants' DC when the Panthers hire Fewell to be HC.
  6. Excellent early look at the draft can be found here. http://www.willistonherald.com/articles/2011/01/05/opinion/columnists/doc4d24a5dc5c9ac920276625.txt
  7. Cowboys have a 1:30 press conference scheduled. Rumor is that it is to name Jason Garrett the head coach.
  8. This is true. Ricketts' hands are tied right now. The state doesn't want to give him money to renovate Wrigley, and building a new ballpark isn't currently an option. He's got to make as much money as possible..whether it's to pay for renovations or put toward debt or whatever. so, I expect we'll see a lot more of this until someone else agrees to pay to renovate Wrigley.
  9. Talk around here is that Miles will leave this time if offered enough money from Michigan. His buyout is only 1.2 million. If this was November, I'd hope he would take the Michigan job, but this is really bad timing if he leaves now.
  10. Holy Crap! According to Scheffer, the Dolphins offer to Harbaugh is in the 7-8 million range which would make him the highest paid NFL coach. Now, I think Harbaugh has a bright future, and he may be an excellent coach, but that kind of money for a guy who has no track record in the NFL seems crazy to me. It's said the 49ers won't compete with that offer, so if Harbaugh wants a payday, it looks like he might be coaching the Dolphins.
  11. That's entirely possible, and Kolb is the popular name for the Titans to pursue if Fisher/Reinfeldt don't draft a QB. I don't know that the Eagles trade Kolb for a backup QB, though, especially if being a backup would make Vince mad. If the pick is high enough, however, they may consider it. Personally, I'm torn on the idea. On one hand, Kolb is a bit more of a proven commodity than a draftee, but he's already spent a few years in a west coast offense and would have to adjust to the Dinger system in Nashville. I don't know the contract details for him, but I'd bet his rookie contract is just about up too. Kolb has one more year on the deal he signed before this season. Here are the details. Looks like if the Eagles trade him, there's going to be a 5+ million cap hit if the old rules apply in the CBA. That's going to make them think twice about trading him. The Eagles were looking for a second rounder for him last offseason, but I'd think a third and a fifth is about what they could get this year. A third plus Young may get it done, but I don't know. Whoever trades for him will have him cheap for one year at 1.392 million, but then they would have to extend him or lose him to FA.
  12. With Miami, it depends on how open to a mobile QB Sparano would be. If they make a change to Cowher or Harbaugh, I don't think Vince would fit with them at all, but he might with Sparano. Of course, Pat White never saw the field there. The Vikings are a definite possibility, as the backups (Tarvaris if he returns and Joe Webb) are also mobile QBs and the offense wouldn't have to be adjusted should injury occur. San Francisco might be a good spot depending on who they hire. Good talent around him, doesn't seem like a huge pressure situation and having a really good RB in Frank Gore would help. If a starting gig doesn't open immediately, I wonder if the Eagles would be a good backup spot? I'd bet they're likely to deal Kolb and will need a backup, Vince could benefit by playing behind Vick for a year or two I think. Would the Eagles deal Kolb to the Titans for Young and a draft pick?
  13. I would normally hope that Michigan would take Miles off our hands, but not this late in the game. While I'd welcome a new coach at LSU, I'd rather not have to look for one this late in the recruiting game.
  14. Even with Bush and Jones, the Saints lack a power running game. Teams can pretty much gear up for the pass. Bush can't run between the tackles. Jones isn't that good at it either.
  15. The Saints still have Reggie Bush and Julius Jones at RB....
  16. Broncos are reportedly planning to interview Perry Fewell and Gregg Williams for their HC position.
  17. My guess is Larkin will eventually get in as he should. Bagwell and Raines belong, but they have a lot of ground to cover. Bagwell will be an interesting case. He's never been implicated, but then it wouldn't surprise me if was a steroid user. The dilemma for the HOF is they really can't unelect him if something were to come out about him, and so... McGwire belongs as well, but we all know the issues there. It's going to be interesting to see how Clemens is handled. I'm certain Sosa will get the same blackballing that McGwire is receiving.
  18. If Luck stays in school, I guess we can deduce he doesn't want to play for Carolina. True, but if Carolina has the first pick again next year...would he keep going back?
  19. That might be a better scenario for them. If Luck stays in school, they could either trade the pick to try to recoup the second rounder they traded last year, or just take the top guy on their board, lose a bunch of games in 2011 and still end up with Luck for the future.
  20. Now, I would love nothing more than all the suspendees to declare for the draft...en masse, immediately after dunking Tressell with Gatorade.
  21. OMG... well, it was an exciting game.

  24. My ranking: AJ Green Justin Blackmon Julio Jones Michael Floyd Torrey Smith Jonathan Baldwin Leonard Hankerson Ryan Broyles Those are all 1st 2 round WRs, IMO. Hopefully somebody good falls to Oakland in the second round and the Raiders actually do the smart thing and take a WR. Depends on who the fastest receiver at the combine is. This guy's mock draft has Blackmon falling to the Jets at #28. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/nfldraftscout-ChadReuter I know the Bears need offensive line, but if Blackmon was there for the Bears... I can't agree with that draft too much. I don't think the Cowboys take Sherrod if Prince is still on the board. The Cowboys are happy with Free at LT, so they are going to look at RT or guards and the value on those is better in the second round.
  25. Sources say Lewis won't be back in Cincy. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=jc-lewispitt010211
