  1. I think placing a third team in the NY market would be a great idea. The only problem for the new team would be carving out a niche of fans since most fans would already have allegiance to either the Yankees or the Mets, so the team would struggle in that regard. That's the only drawback I can see is that if they couldn't attract new fans, a team there could struggle.
  2. Yeah. I was there. Speaking of Red Sox tickets, I've been selected for the chance to buy Green Monster tickets on Saturday. Does anyone know if there's a strong enough resale on those to worry with it? Vance, don't take my word on this but I think there is a pretty decent resale value. I believe only something like 100 green monster seats a game or so. The seats I got for the Saturday Cubs/Red Sox game ($100 ticket on 1st base line) are going for $450 on stub hub, cheapest ticket. Insane Alright. Cool. I may sit in the virtual line and try to grab some and quickly resale them.

  4. I don't know that it's impossible to sell unused tickets for what you pay, it's just that there's not much to be gained. Also, with the presales they do, the few games where a profit could be made are mostly sold out before today's sale begins. For example, five years ago or so, I remember a bleacher seat for even a summer game would be around $44 or so. If I got through the VWR and purchased bleachers to White Sox or Cardinals, I could sell those for roughly $100 a ticket. If I got six of those, even after ebay and paypal fees, I could make a nice profit. It made it worth it to get some extras. Also, if I wanted to go to one of those games, the difference in buying 4 tickets at 44 or buying 4 at 100 was a big difference. Now, a marquee bleacher ticket is $72 and a platinum bleacher is $58. If I wanted to sell for an upgrade the margin of profit after paypal fees, etc isn't enough to make it worth the effort. Secondly, if I decide to go, the amount difference isn't enough to make me plop the money down 3 months in advance. My point still remains the same many of the amateur scalpers will be gone. That is true, so the wait in the VWR should be less. But, since anyone could have purchased during the 20% hike and the mini-plans included the high demand games, I think there will be less inventory of those to go around. If I knew I was going to White Sox or Cardinal games, I would have either paid the 20 percent premium or would have bought a plan that included those.

  6. I don't know that they're sold out, but I would bet that the selection is very limited.
  7. I don't know when I'm coming to Chicago yet, and the prices make buying to sell not worth it anymore. If I have to pay extra to get the games I want when I come up there, I will just do that. For the first time in awhile, I won't be working the VWR.
  8. I know rosters haven't been finalized and won't be for awhile, but I was wondering who might be the best prospects to play in that league this year? I haven't been to many games over the past couple of years, but I'm going to try to make the drive over to Mississippi to catch as many as I can this summer, so I'd love to know who to look out for and which teams to make a point to make it over to see. So, for those of you who follow the minors a lot more closely than I do, who should I expect to see and would like to see?

  10. Andy Sisco was released by the Yankees today.
  11. This is true. Either you have inspired hatred from a real jerk or you yourself are a real jerk if people are [expletive] on you or near you, or at you.
  12. This is MLB's answer to the secondary market, along with tiered pricing. While I prefer to get seats as cheaply as possible, I can't really blame teams for trying to maximize value when they look around and see people making money off their product.
  13. I only read da bum I wouldn't call that journalism.
  14. Are you still in? I'm waiting.
  15. Good article on the potential lock-out. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/02/13/ten-things-to-know-right-now-about-the-labor-situation/
  16. It's not really fans, but season ticket holders who either want an 18-game schedule or fewer preseason games. What season ticket holders want is not to have to pay regular season price for 2 additional preseason games. Replacing one of those with a regular season game makes great sense to me. While I can usually get 1.5x face or greater for a regular season game I'm not attending, I usually have trouble giving away my preseason tickets...so I love the idea of one less preseason home game replaced with an additional regular season game. Now, if it's an 18-game schedule + 2 preseason games...I'm not as much in favor of that.
  17. I think there's a lot more to it than just a fight over the length of the season. The owners want the players to roll back the percent of revenue they currently get.
  18. My guess is that it gets done, but with a ton of money deferred. He probably gets 10/275, but the Cardinals only pay him 20 million a year for those ten years and then the other 75 million is paid out like five million a year with some interest or something like that.
  19. Rasco is a big pickup for LSU, and you are referring to Jeremy Hill...who is charged with oral sexual battery. He evidently let a freshman blow him in his school bathroom. She is 14, he's 18, and he was considered a very talented RB recruit. 'Was' being the key word...I wonder if he'll have to serve time for this.... Yeah, I did mean Jeremy. And yes, he is accused of sexual battery. He's no longer enrolled at Redemptrist HS. My guess is that if he escapes jail time, he will have to go the juco route. He was supposedly a very talented RB. He lacked break-away speed, but was extremely quick and found the holes very well....in the case of the freshman in the bathroom, maybe too well.
  20. Rasco signs with LSU finishing off the class with 22. They are not signing Kenny Hill who previously committed but has gotten himself into some big legal issues.
  21. LSU had no real surprises. It's not a great class, but it's not bad either. They did a good job getting the blu chippers from in-state that they wanted, and that's good.
  22. I have heard so many conflicting reports about who has looked good and who hasn't at the Senior Bowl this week, I really don't know what to make of it. The only consensus I've gotten is that Von Miller and Cam Jordan looked great as did Phil Taylor.
  23. Not a big fan of Whitlock, but this is too good to pass up.
