  1. This has more to do with ticket prices than anything. The placing of the tax after the purchase which resulted in an increase even if it doesn't appear to be when just looking at prices and the jacking up of the prices has created a lack of people buying. I'm planning a trip to Wrigley over Memorial Day weekend. In the past, I would have already gotten tickets. Right now, there are plenty available and the prices are so high, I don't see the need to buy in advance.
  2. If the real draft were to fall this way, and Cam Newton is still on the board, I think the Cowboys will try desperately to trade down into the teens and pick up an extra third round pick. But, since trade downs are not possible in this mock. Think the Cowboys look at three players here: 1. Prince Amukuamara, CB 2. J.J. Watt, DE 3. Tyron Smith, OT All three are needs for the Cowboys. All three players I've seen mocked to the Cowboys. Jerry Jones has never selected an o-lineman in the first round. This could be the year it changes. Smith is athletic enough to play RT now and could slide to the leftside if needed. I'm going with the Cowboys selecting Tyron Smith- OT USC.
  3. Why is this not surprising to me? Link.
  4. I've already told my students that twice this morning. For example, "I do not have time to amuse you like a birthday clown; you need to sit down and start the assignment." My god is that expression going to get worked a bunch today.
  5. Saw this on rotoworld this morning.
  6. I must have missed the part in Roots where Kunta Kinte was offered a multi million dollar contract to perform in the industry of his choosing.
  7. I'd have more interest in Young, if I knew Darren O'Day would be coming along with him.
  8. Looks to be heading toward a lock-out or decertification...either way, looks like no football. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6201349
  9. I have three tickets for Sunday's game, and it looks like I'm not going. My brother and nephew plan to use them, but only need two. If anyone is interested in a single to the Sunday game, let me know.
  10. Has anyone gotten their tickets yet?
  11. If you do, I'll take the Cowboys again.
  12. Season ticket holders like the 18-game schedule. As a Cowboys season ticket holder, I have to purchase tickets to 10 games. 8 regular season games and 2 pre-season games. My seats are $80 seats in the upper level of the stadium. If I do not want to go to a regular season game, I cna usually sell my seats for $150 a piece. In a down year like we had this year, I still was able to get face or close to it. On the other hand, there's been times I couldn't give my preseason tickets away. I really do not care to go to preseason games and pay for parking, etc. Last year, I sold two tickets to one game (160 face) for $50. Not fifty per ticket, fifty for the pair; the other game I gave the tickets away. Now, I usually just consider that the price I pay to have season tickets.... but if given the choice of trading a preseason game for a regular season one, most season ticket holders are for it enthusiastically. I either will have another game that I will want to attend because it matters, or a game that I will not have to take a loss on if I do not attend. In most surveys with season ticket holders, paying regular season prices for preseason games is a the largest complaint. Instead of reducing what we pay for those games (which would cost revenues), the NFL prefers this solution.
  13. Next Saturday, I get to meet Patrick Peterson at an autograph signing here in Monroe.
  14. He has the Titans taking Patrick Peterson at 8. No way he falls that far, but I cannot express how happy I'd be on draft day if the Titans got Peterson. If Peterson drops to 6-7, I could see the Cowboys moving up to get him. I've heard rumors that he sits atop the Cowboys' draft board.
  15. Miller will be a top five pick for sure. He won't slip past seven. He's showing everything he needed to show to go up that high.
  16. I've seen this true with Rangers games as well. One thing to remember about teams like the Rangers and Royals is that they don't have a capped off ticket base like the Cubs and Red Sox and other teams like that. So, even though they have put single game seats on sale, they are still trying to add season ticket holders. To do so, they have to have seats to sell to those. So, they have held seats backs to offer as season ticket seats and mini-plan seats. They will even hold those into the season as they can say you can sit in this seat for the remainder of the season as a season ticket holder. As those games get closer and they still haven't sold those packages, they release seats. Any idea why the Cubs and Red Sox would cap their season ticket sales? Why not sell the entire stadium on a season ticket basis if you could, like, say, the GB Packers do. My guess is so that they can claim that there are still tickets available for the everyday fan. Also, I think the waiting list actually keeps people renewing season tix even after a season like the last one. But that is just my guess.
  17. Actually, he did horrible addressing the media, but reports are that he impressed teams during interviews.

As those games get closer and they still haven't sold those packages, they release seats. I can completely see that Vance. Just now looked up when the Twins ind. tickets go on sale. It's March 19th. I guess they are waiting till the last possible moment for ST and partial ST people to sign up. I've actually been told that's the case by one of the Texas Rangers reps. Last year, I was getting group tickets to see the Rangers-Cubs. I wanted my tickets in the club level which has waiter service and extra leg room, etc. Anyway, at first they told me there weren't enough seats there. As I kept asking for areas, she told me that there were seats, it's just that they were set aside for season ticket holders. After talking to her about what we needed, she ended up getting a supervisor to approve us to have the seats. The Ranger situation isn't quite the same this year as they have had a season ticket boost since going to the WS. Teams like the Cubs who have maxed out their season ticket base and have a waiting list can pretty much put their entire inventory on sale. Many teams however hold back premium inventory that would be the type of seat to attract a season ticket holder.

  20. I haven't been since 2004, but would love to go back. In about 16 years when I retire, I plan to go every year.
  21. Next it will come out that Cecil Newton stood on the platform while Cam was next to him Mullins and Chizik in the room at the same time and Cecil saying, "I got 180k, 180k going once, going twice....oh now it's 200k, going once, going twice...sold to the Auburn Tigers!"
  22. If Vance [expletive] Nickelson has not bought any Cubs tickets 7 hours after they went on sale, either he's dead or the Cubs are in trouble. It's not that I'm dead or the Cubs are in trouble. It's a combo of a couple of things. First, they have raised prices to the point that the difference in waiting or getting them now is not that big a difference. Secondly, I'm not sure when I'm coming to Chicago this year. Third, I'm not interested in selling any for a profit. In the past, I'd buy tickets to the high value games if I got through...and if I decided not to go, I could sell them and make back some of the costs of my trips. Now, those things don't make sense. I'm still going to go to the same number of games; it just doesn't make as much sense to buy early. If I knew when I was going, I would have my tickets. It's just I'm not in a hurry to make that decision right now.
  23. No more VWR if anyone wants seats. I still haven't bought any.
  24. Uh....have you seen me field grounders? It could get really ugly.
