  1. All in all, it was a good job by Camp to get it to extra innings. His 9th inning was the equivalent of a CF who breaks in three steps on a fly ball, then turns around and dead sprints toward the wall and makes a great over-the-shoulder diving catch.

  3. Was Camp even one of the best 4 available options?
  4. Me too. First one to get bit is Stone, and he'd probably immediately start chiming in on the abomination of a homerun call.
  5. Chapman got the save last night by striking out the side against the Astros. His stats now stand at: 22g, 27 ip, 7h, 0er, 8bb, 47k, 0.56 whip, 15.7 k/9
  6. I just want to see the guy get back to the majors and be healthy. Where he plays or how much he dominates doesn't make a big difference to me. Just not St Louis or Miami.
  7. It was definitely fair. You could see the mark the ball made in the chalk when they showed it later in the game. Yet another reason to add replay. Thread derail: In that case, the ump called the ball foul, play dead. In perfect-world replay, would that be non-reviewable, or would they go back and if they see it's ruled fair, make a determination of what likely would have happened and award the batter (and any base runners) the bases they likely would have gotten?
  8. Garza has averaged less than 5IP over his last three starts, his HR/9 this year is 35% higher than his career average, and he's been good for a 0.2 bWAR through two months of the season. The Giants have a guy named Melky. And one named Theriot. Advantage: Cubs.
  9. I voted for individual W/L, but it was basically a tossup between that and saves. I won't have a problem with holds unless they gather the same mainstream meatball momentum that Wins and Saves have.
  10. Turned on the game just in time to see Barney score on the passed ball. Who was the guy who may or may not have been thrown to his death from the broadcast booth window, and how did he deserve it?
  11. Brace ourselves for a 15-game winning streak?
  12. Looks like there's a chance of thunderstorms in pittsburgh today, starting around 4pm and going the rest of the day. Any chance they have trouble getting through all 9 innings?
  13. We're getting trolled by a Pirates fan. I'm gonna go let that sink in for a while.

  15. It was cool when they cut to AJP and showed him applauding. That might be the only time I ever look at him without thinking he's a complete raging douchebag. I'm so glad that Kerry went out with the K, and with that curveball looking as sick as ever. So awesome.
  16. I think it's Aramis Fan who posted a link to a file share of the original broadcast to the Game 7 HR. Does anyone happen to have that clip? My copy of it died with the computer I was using at the time.
  17. Until the Cubs are in the WS, the Game 7 HR will stand as the single most exciting moment in my sports fan life.
  18. Glad I decided that I can just shut off that rather boring 1-0 game in the 7th inning and go to bed since I had to be up early today. Volstad (0-4, 6.55 ERA, 1.39 WHIP) vs Marcum (1-1, 3.41 ERA, 1.24 WHIP). Please win, Fox blows, etc.
  19. Don't disagree BUT you have to question his conditioning in general then. No. You question the mechanics of his swing. It only takes once out of 80+ swings over a 4-hr time frame.
  20. I hope Dusty continues to deem it important that he be a lefty bullpen arm. How would you feel about it if Jocketty were on board with this too? Because he is.
  21. I just pulled up Chapman's numbers. 12.1 IP, 21:4 K:BB, 0 ER. I hope Swaim doesn't think it matters who he saves to face that guy.
  22. How the hell are we within a game and a half of fifth?
