  1. Thanks for the update, and I was at church and taking Britt to a job interview. We went to Barnes and Noble too, which could have caused me to miss the whole game. After about 25 minutes, I started complaining and pointed out that none of these books are showing the Cubs game, so we should probably get going. :) Well, it seems to me...... you can dress her up in a CUBS jersey and a CUBS cap.... but if she's causing you to miss games, then she's a bad influence on you, no? ..but...but...she just registered on nsbb too! (hasn't posted yet tho) And I explained the whole thing about missing Cubs games, and she's on her last warning before she spends a coule days in the stocks.

  3. Score Summary 1st Derrek Lee (28) solo shot to left center off Wells. 3rd Burnitz singled to right, Walker scored, Lee to second. Ramirez singled to center, Lee scored, Burnitz to third. Barrett singled to right, Ramirez scored, Hollandsworth to third, Perez to second. Zambrano doubled to deep left center, Hollandsworth and Perez scored, Barrett to third. 4th Castillo reached on fielder´s choice to third, Bay scored, Mackowiak to third, Ward out at second. 4th Jeromy Burnitz (15) solo shot to center off Meadows. 7th Aramis Ramirez (21) solo shot to left off Grabow. D-Lee hits a solo HR in the 1st. Cubs score 5 runs in the 3rd. Then follow it up with a Pittsburgh solo-HR in the 4th, but Burnitz gets that run back by a solo-HR. Thanks. After attending all four games of the Atlanta series and not having been able to sit through a whole game since then, this would have been a great one to see.
  4. I just got home and turned the game on in time to see Ramirez hit a homer, followed by Holla's single and Neifi's double. This pretty much sums up my thoughts for the last three minutes:  =D> \:D/ Can someone pls give me a quick catch-up of the game?
  5. I decided not to run with the negativity thing for my impending winning streak. With an offense like this team has, you can only take it so far before they live up to every joking expectation. I would have done a similar thing with positivity, but I probably would have made myself and plenty of others around here puke. Plus, negativity comes a lot more naturally with this team.
  6. Well, that game was nice and forgettable. Hopefully today was the aberration, not the five games before. The offense needs to wake up against Cy Wells, and Big Z should take care of the rest. http://www.pittsburghlive.com/photos/2005-04-06/0406kip-b.jpgKip Wells 6-9, 4.46 ERA vs. http://www.onlinesports.com/images/phf-aagi197.gifCarlos Zambrano 6-4, 3.85 ERA
  7. Sosaa's performance and relationship with fans, management, and front office made the trade a necessity, as stated earlier. His gargantuan of a contract couple with the severe decline made offloading him a necessity, and it pretty much guaranteed that we were going to accept the fact that we were going to be at a loss on some level. Dropping Sosa was like cutting losses on a doomed stock rather than riding it into the ground in hopes that it would rebound, and I think the numbers Fred posted make it pretty clear that Hendry's moves at least levelled out that downward nosedive. We still come out behind, but given the options, I'm pleased. As for me, I was thrilled to see Sammy go, but at the time, I felt we could have done better than landing Burnitz. So far, he has performed much better than what I expected, and I really like his attitude and approach. I think that Sammy's contract puts the Cubs in a bad spot no matter how you cut it, but given the circumstances, they definitely could have done worse.
  8. not gonna happen. dusty fought bringing in that lineup for how long, and when he finally tried it (on monday), the cubs rewarded him with a whopping no runs on about six hits. that gives him all the reason he needs to feel good about going with his imbicilic gut for another 10 [expletive] weeks. I say start the entire West Tennessee roster. How much worse can this bullcrap get?!
  9. I don't hold anything against Bartman, but related to that (and in addition to pretty much everything listed already), I would watch reruns of that play, because I would finally be able to watch it without crying and balling up under the desk in a fetal position for hours at a time. Cubs winning the WS is the only way to reduce the sensitivity of that scar.
  10. Just keep clicking one of those google ads a day and we'll call it even. :D id click those ads much more frequently if they opened up in a new browser instead of navigating me away from nsbb
  11. BA - Lee, no question. He would have to fold on proportions I'd rather not ponder at this point in order to lose out in BA HR - I think it could be close, but the realist in me still has to side with Pujols. RBI - I don't care as much about this one. Dusty isn't writing the lineups for Pujols. (Reading between the lines here will reveal a bitter admission of Pujols probably having the advantage.) OPS - I still go with Lee here. As far as who has the better year overall, I don't think there will be a clearcut right answer, even when the season is over and the numbers are tallied. Objective end of season analysis will show a strong case for either one to be picked over the other, which only allows room for the winner to be based on personal opinion, preference and bias. That said... Lee by a mile.
  12. http://fantasybaseball.rotoworld.com/content/clubhouse_news.asp?sport=MLB&majteam=CHC Was it my imagination, or did I watch Rothschild go to the mound and instruct Wuertz to 4 pitch walk A-Rod to load the bases to get to Matsui, only so that Dusty could replace Wuertz with Remlinger for the lefty/lefty match up? When I saw Dusty motion for Remlinger, I got up, started getting dressed, hollered at the wife to put hers on, and right after Remlinger gave up the double, I turned off the tv and took the wife to dinner. I knew it would no longer be worth watching. I knew Remlinger would serve it up on a platter. Not only is Remlinger bad against lefties, Matsui kills lefties. Did Dusty not notice what Matsui did to Ohman just an inning earlier? Did he wake up this morning and think to himself "Hey, today is a new day, Remlinger will no longer be horrible against lefties", and then imagine that it must be true because he thought of it? I wasn't sure which was more mind-boggling: starting Wilson, the reason for starting Wilson, or making the same mistake to Matsui in consecutive innings. In the game thread last night, after Ohman served it up to Matsui and everyone yelled about how dumb Dusty must be to bring in a loogy for Matsui, I joked about how he should have used Remlinger in that spot instead. I figured it was the only possible way he could have been dumber in that situation, so surely it wouldn't happen. I wonder how long "It's my gut feelin', dude!" is going to be an acceptable managing philosophy. edit -
  13. Hey, if she gets signed to a long-term deal, I want one too! :)
  14. I'd like to jump in the rotation as well. If anyone else thinks so, please say so. [two cents=cubmanpi] This doesn't seem like a half bad idea to me. [/two cents]
