  1. I'd say 2 of his 3 were pretty rough. Scorekeeper was on crack not ruling the dropped popup on his 2nd AB an error, and his single traveled 9 feet.
  2. Obligatory 1908 mention. Did they already bring up Bartman?
  3. Pedroia doesn't get an error for that play. Unreal.
  4. I will never wrap my head around how this was ever possible. (ETA - and I'm not getting hung up on the face-value math either)
  5. Never heard that before. Awesome.
  6. The brand of stupid you get from ESPN color analysis of Dustin Pedroia is truly mind-boggling. In that one AB, we got all these gems:
  7. I just saw that and looked up the record for walks in a game. Bagwell drew 6 in a 16-inning game in 99. Mark Grace became one of a handful to draw 6 over the course of an 18-inning doubleheader. Jimmie Foxx drew 6 in a 9-inning game in 1938. Gordon's game today got him close.
  8. Heading into today, Giancarlo is OPSing .581 in June with 18 Ks in 60PA (1 hr). 0-3 with 2 Ks so far today. Though to be fair, lumping those numbers in with what he posted in May is still a great 50-game stretch.
  9. ESPN should put together a two-shot montage of that and Castro running toward the dugout with two outs and point out how Swaim needs to be doing a better job and these guys need to stop being so lazy and this kind of poor play is why the Cubs are where they are now and everyone needs to be more like Darwin Barney and Tony Campana. Maybe they could get Valentine to discuss this from the dugout.
  10. Matt Wieters this season: Apr 6th - May 9th: 113 PA, .300/.381/.580/.961 May 10th - June 12th: 118 PA, .202/.288/.308/.596 Damn.
  11. Michigan is the one state in the union to see a population decline between the 2000 and 2010 censuses.
  12. Final line: 9IP, 1H, 0BB, 0ER, 12K, 106 pitches. A run scored in the 9th on a throwing error, followed by 2 passed balls and an RBI groundout.
  13. Stewart just gave up on that ground ball through the hole. I'm looking forward to how badly he gets slammed for being yet another lazy infielder with no hustle.
  14. I don't see how anyone can stay focused long enough to get a hit off this guy. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aF7g64yzuDA/TojsuB1QdzI/AAAAAAAABU8/_gGSnicpIng/s1600/MaxCrazyEyes.jpg
  15. Finally able to wind down and catch up on some news, and I find 12 new pages of this thread. It's gonna be a good night. And to whoever posted that pic of Hoystein a couple pages ago, I'd appreciate spoiler tags and a NSFW warning next time.
  16. Why does it feel like our relievers have blown more games than that? I think it still allows for a decent number of blown games. "When they don't" includes tie games. It also includes for the game Friday, when the Cubs trailed after the 7th, took the lead in the 8th, and still went on to lose.
  17. In 171 PA over 38 games since his callup in late April, Mike Trout is OPS'ing .950 and has put up a 2.4 WAR. Thru two innings today, his numbers this weekend in Colorado are 7 for 10, a 2b, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 4 SB, and 8 runs scored. Want.
  18. I hope we trade every last player in the farm system in a 12-team deal that brings in Josh Hamilton, Carlos Gonzalez, Ryan Braun, Joey Votto, Robinson Cano, Justin Verlander, Stephen Strasburg, and Matt Cain. Then I hope Josh Hamilton relapses on the team plane, commandeers the cockpit in a PCP rage, eats the pilot, crashes the plane, and kills everyone on board. Then I hope the Cubs run a promotion the next day where the first 25 fans to enter the stadium get a major league contract. Then they get moved to Jacksonville, go on a 643-game losing streak, and fanboy Tom finally sells the team so he can focus on the dogfighting ring he's running out of Wrigley. Anything short of this, and fire Theo. Either that, or we can just hope to get a grip and make it through a season that wasn't destined to be anything resembling memorable in the first place.
  19. It just feels like one of those games where Miami is going to slowly pull away. You were way off. It felt like a switch flipped and suddenly the game was never even close.
  20. Can either team lose at this point without it being considered an implosion? Boston has already imploded just to be in this situation.
  21. You forgot to say whether LF or RF sucks more.
  22. The word filter needs to take any form of punctuation that is repeated more than once and replace the entire post with "I'm a stupid moron with an ugly face and big butt and my butt smells and I like to kiss my own butt."
