  1. Prediction: Victor Cruz and Julio Jones will have more yards and TDs than all receivers involved in the game in Denver. (Is that even going out on a limb?)
  2. If we use other professional athletes as a precedence for what will happen to Starlin, he'll become the most hated athlete in sports (other than Jay Cutler), but he'll be able to cut a deal to avoid doing any time, and he'll go on to win a championship or two. Not ideal, but I'll take it.
  3. Looks like Braun will be in attendance 21 Jan at the BBWAA dinner to accept his MVP award. It would be worse for him if he didn't go, but still. Awkward.
  4. Ended up winning my league by three points, thanks to Eli and Robinson combining to beat Dez Bryant 44-7.
  5. Should have gone Crabtree (ETA - or Julio :banghead: ). On my way to two second-place finishes. Playing against Colston in both leagues.
  6. No McCoy for my last game. I need to win by 6 points to win an extra $75. RB Gore RB K. Bell RB/WR ?? WR R. White WR S. Johnson Flex options are Michael Crabtree, Kendall Hunter, Laurent Robinson, and Julio Jones. The two 49ers are tempting, but I'm going with Robinson. He and Romo are healthy, and their game matters. It also allows me to swap in Julio Jones if the Lions lose to the Packers.
  7. I would have made the same Vick mistake had I been higher in either of my drafts. Thanks to Matthew Berry, I had to settle for McCoy and Rice as my 2 first-rounders. I did take Gates in the 4th round, but luckily Fred Davis was serviceable while Gates was out, and Gates was good by the time Davis's suspension started.
  8. I was just going back and looking at the draft recap in the two leagues I'm in, and I was having some fun with hindsight. - In rd 2, I drafted Hakeem Nicks. The next player drafted was Megatron. Oops. - I was 11th overall (14 teams, PPR), and somehow Ray Rice was still available. - I drafted Daniel Thomas 67th overall. Next RB off the board was Fred Jackson. Oops again. - I drafted my backup QB in rd 6 (74th overall), and chose Flacco of all people. Stafford went 134 overall. "Oops" doesn't come close. - Jimmy Graham was easily my best value, at #102. (Dumb luck though, I didn't know anything about him.) - I drafted Mike Williams (TB) #43. Available receivers at the time included Brandon Lloyd, Steve Johnson, Anquan Boldin, and Wes Welker. With the benefit of hindsight, what were some of the good/bad moves you guys made in the draft, and how did you end up overall? What were some of your key moves? ETA - I started slow in both leagues, and finished strong (made finals in both, still playing in wk 17). Adding Demarco Murray was key in both of them. Other good pickups included Nate Washington, DHB, Laurent Robinson, and 49ers D/ST.
  9. Still have the second half of a 2-week championship match to go in both leagues. Down by 6 and 18, which really isn't bad all things considered. McCoy may or may not play this weekend. If he doesn't, here's what I'm left with for RB: Gore Kendall Hunter Khalil Bell (pending waiver wire) I'll also have a flex spot for Steve Johnson, Laurent Robinson, or the remainder from the above group. Considering it's week 17 and teams may or may not start resting people, should I play Gore and Hunter together? Should I put Bell in the flex spot? Gore/Bell/Johnson?
  10. LeSean McCoy, Laurent Robinson, and Cam Newton are killing me this week. I really hope Roddy White and Julio Jones can combine for 30+ points again this week. I love David Akers. Tate, Nicks, and Romo ruined my other team. I'm up by 28 with Graham to go, but she still has Brees, Colston, Bennett, and Gould to go. I could be down by 50 after Monday night.
  11. I'd go with Tate and Washington. If Felix Jones doesn't do any practicing, I may end up rolling with Sammy Morris instead.
  12. I was thinking Mathews for Bryant wouldn't be awful either, but otherwise seems good. Your team is in good shape to take it.
  13. The sources that leaked the possible deal didn't say one way or the other about any other players that would be involved, they just named Marshall and Wood as the key pieces. (ETA - according to mlbtr)
  14. In my PPR league, I need 1 from each pair: Tomlinson (NYG) Tate (@Ind) DHB (@KC) Nate Washington (Jac)
  15. With the Falcons playing the Saints this weekend, I'm going to roll with both Roddy White and Julio Jones. That leaves these three for my 1 flex spot: Laurent Robinson (Phi) Steve Johnson (Den) Roy Helu (Min) Which one?
  16. Whoever is playing Jacksonville is always a good idea, but opposing defenses are averaging almost 17 pts a game during the Bears' current losing streak. Jacksonville has allowed just over 10 pts per game to opposing defenses over that same time. The train wreck in Chicago looks to be the most profitable option right now. ETA - Titans D is still available in my money league. I have Bears and 49ers already, but I think I'm going to try to add them too. Not because I plan on starting them necessarily, but my opponent has been playing defense by committee all season (and doing rather well at it), and I don't think I want that option to be available to her. It's worth dropping Mike Williams (TB version) for that.
  17. In one league I survived Megatron+Spiller (combined for 61 pts). In the other, Romo + DHB + Ray Rice + Falcons D/ST = 100-pt victory for me.
  18. Good thing I went DHB. I went Bears D too, which was only ok because they scored that TD. Finals in both my leagues.
  19. PPR league, need 1: Nate Washington (probably catching from Hasselbeck instead of Locker) DHB (Jacoby Ford still out, Denarius Moore back) Donald Driver (old) Tomlinson (old, plays with Shonn Greene) Defense: Bears (Sea) or 49ers (Pit, who may or may not start Charlie Batch because of Ben's injury)?
  20. I very much doubt it, but you never know. I just have a feeling once we learn more this story is going to be a bombshell. the part where an NFL player was positioning himself to be a drug lord, yes. The part where NFL players buy cocaine and pot? Not so much. With the quantities they're talking, Hurd could likely be the supplier to a double-digit number of NFL players who are also dealing. Busting a ring of pro athlete drug dealers would definitely be a bigger deal than finding a handful of players dabble in coke and/or weed. A "handful?" Please. Tons of these guys are doing plenty more than "dabbling." At the end of the day whether they get it from a guy like Hurd or outside of the league the end result is the same. I was drawing a distinction between dealing to a bunch of Fred Davises and supplying a ring of NFL dealers. The latter sounds like a much bigger deal to me than the former.

  22. Rodgers doesn't have a whole lot of options who will reliably put up points, since he spreads the ball to literally every eligible receiver on the roster. I know it's against the Steelers, but Michael Crabtree is probably a better choice than just about any GB receiver who's not Jordy Nelson. If Jermichael Finley can put up a zero, then Aaron Rodgers is the only reliable producer on that offense.
  23. Yea, Smith over Barber if he's not limited in practice and doing first team reps. Bukie, I'm leaning toward Smith as well, especially now that good Rivers is back and has at least a fighting chance to make Baltimore work hard to keep up on offense, but Garcon may actually be the best option there.
  24. I'll go with that. I suddenly have a bad feeling about Steve Johnson for this week, but as long as I don't have my worst week of the season, odds are I make the final round and guaranteed money.
  25. My opponent hasn't scored more than 93 points in 6 weeks, and averages 82.5 over that time. All I need to do is lose by less than 35, and I advance to the final round. If I start Julio Jones and Roddy White together, would that minimize the chances of ALL my receivers getting Calvin Johnson'd this week? It would require me to play Jones in lieu of Laurent Robinson. With my opponent's recent weakness, I figure I am a lock to win if I can get about 18 total points out of my 3 receivers. (Steve Johnson v Mia is the other WR.)
