I think you really have to live in the Chicago area to understand the true obnoxiousness that is the average Sox fan. you're probably right, and maybe my hometown is an outlier or something, but i don't think many people from chicago understand the true obnoxiousness that is the average Cardinal fan. OR MAYBE all fans are obnoxious to fans of rival teams. i read an a's website, and boy do they ever hate giants fans. I think we do. A lot of us Cubs fans from Chicago went to colleges downstate and were subjected to the "World's greatest fans." Hating obnoxious Red Birds fans is different than hating insecure, bitter Sox fans - but equally justifiable. Totally agree. I never really hated the Cardinals or their fans when I was growing up. I developed a dislike for them because I felt I was supposed to because they were a rival. I've always hated the White Sox. When I went away to college in Peoria and was exposed to Cardinal Nation for the first time, I then understood the anger and frustration that many downstate Cub fans have to deal with on a daily basis. The one positive about living with Sox fans is they have nothing to brag about either, whereas Cardinal fans always have good teams that kill the Cubs. The Sox have absolutely nothing to brag about.
