  1. I started a thread in Baseball Discussions about this but I think it should be mentioned here. Nomar is playing 3B in today's game because Ramirez is being DL'ed. Hairston's leading off with Lawton batting second. I didn't catch the rest of the lineup because I'm so surprised Nomar is playing 3B.
  2. I don't know, they didn't mention that.
  3. Per the Score.
  4. That can be done. Easily. Surely you've heard of Power Hour (60 shots in an hour) or Century Club (100 shots in 100 minutes). Used to do century club all the time, you put Dazed and Confused in the vcr and it runs right about 100 minutes.
  5. This just proves what an excellent job the Cubs have done in bringing prospects to the major leagues. I can already hear MacPhail adding Sisco's name to the all-stars and rookies of the year that came through the cub farm system that he likes to spew in the media so much.
  6. C'mon, dude, I play more young guys in spring training than anybody else, dude.
  7. Funny line by a Score listener..."Which one of Nomar's 8 rbi is your favorite?" Its funny yet sad.
  8. The Score said Ronnie Cedeno is set to get recalled if Nomar is indeed headed to the DL. I don't know the status of this move, it sounds as if Cedeno was on his way to Chicago, just in case Nomar is DL'ed.
  9. Great article, Matt.
  10. I don't have much to compare it too but having been in the visitor's clubhouse on a Wrigley Tour, I can say that yes it is tiny and has zero amenities. Having only seen the clubhouses of some teams on tv, I can say that I wouldn't want to visit Wrigley as a player either especially compared to what they get elsewhere.
  11. its not repeatable on here, thats for sure. Thanks. Why were doing that?
  12. I wonder if MacPhail looks at the payroll number including or excluding the Sosa salary for this year. I sure hope he's referring to the 100+ million not the 85ish million like some sources like to report as the payroll for this year.
  13. It works for me... The hyperlink in the sidebar? They included a comma, so it doesn't work for me. Right, sorry that's what I meant but I wasn't very clear about what I was saying. They included a comma at the end of it. Oh well, good pub for the site regardless.
  14. The one bad thing about all of this is the the link included on the Northwest Herald site. It doesn't work it. Hopefully people who read the paper can figure it out for themselves besides just clicking the link they give you.
  15. Here's an article about sports internet message boards and fan-based sites dedicated to teams in the Northwest Herald based in McHenry County. Its not exactly the Trib or Sun-Times but it'll do. NSBB Love
  16. Something tells me that won't be an issue. If the Cubs fail to make-up any ground before September, and they keep running out the likes of Burnitz & Co. everyday, then perhaps the Cubs fans who still think this regime is doing well will change their mind. If the argument is you can't use kids when trying to contend, then what would be the defense for not using kids when you can no longer pretend that you are contending? But even if they fail to make up any ground, they will still be able to say they are "in the race" until there are very few games left, at which point many casual fans who still back the Cubs brass won't care what happens. I'm waiting for the same to dopes to wait for this team to finish with 83ish wins and argue for keeping Dusty around because he's the first manager in a long time to lead the team to three consecutive +.500 seasons. Hey, CP20, what about the non-casual or serious fans who still back Hendry despite not agreeing with him sending Murton down? Or did you mean that only fans that don't pay enough attention and aren't really serious about the Cubs winning would still think Hendry is a GM worth having? And, MPC, just a friendly word of advice, be careful who you call "dopes" on this board. Name-calling and insulting entire sections of Cubs fans just because you disagree with them tends to be poo-pooed around here. I was not intending to call Baker supporters dopes, it was meant for some Cub fans that use the last 50 years of Cub futility as enough cause to support a manager who has raised the standard of performance the last few years by posting 2 plus .500 seasons. People that want to keep Baker around are fine with me, I disagree with them, but they can have their opinions. It frustrations me to hear fans that will use another 83 win season as justification to show what a great job Baker has done the past two seasons. I know a huge portion of Cub fans expect and demand more out of our team now, moreso than ever before and I don't want to have to settle mediocrity anymore. No offense intended to anyone.
  17. As far as I know he's still day-to-day. Dusty probably felt it best to give him two consecutive days, and let Neifi play because he's "familiar with the ballpark", henceforth known as the Enrique Principle. Awesome. :lmao:

  19. I'm a fool for hoping that the Cubs are keeping that ridiculous extra bullpen arm for the weekend in Colorado and will bring Murton back up with the extra arm going down after the weekend.
  20. Burnitz has sat out only 2 entire games this whole season. He leads the team in number of games played. I don't see him now getting platooned. Even with his .590 post all-star game OPS.
  21. I don't really know where this belongs, so mods can move it wherever they want it. Here's the link to David Haugh's story in the Trib. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-0508160239aug16,1,2087946.story?coll=chi-news-hed
