  1. I'll believe it when I see it.
  2. Are we just bidding against ourselves for Furcal? The Mets?
  3. Rooney is one of the best I've heard. And the best part for Cards fans...No Ed Farmer to go with Rooney.
  4. He's also gonna be on "Chicago Tribune Live" for the 37 people that watch that show.
  5. How so? Hendry has stated before he isn't trading Pie. I think all indications are that Hendry will not make this deal including Pie. I think its a possibility because Hendry seems to have getting "table setters" high on his list of priorities this off season. While I don't think a Pie for Pierre trade straight up would happen, a package deal with those players could happen though.
  6. scary stuff. a horrible trade for the cubbies but even scarier because I can see something like this unfolding.
  7. I'll just randomly repeat the quote above in case it gets lost anywhere in this thread. Look at those numbers closely. Yep, that was our first bat off the bench in '05.
  8. Check the current poll on cubs.com. Giles is 4th place in "most wanted FA" with 8% of the vote after Damon with 47%. That right there shows you the aptitude of your average fan. Let's hope that if the team wants to solicit advice from the internet, they look here rather than there. Agreed. I'm guessing the average Cub fan thinks today's signing of Perez was a good idea. "He did a great job this season filling in for Nomar, he plays great defense and has all the intangibles."
  9. Millwood Passed Over
  10. Wasn't Lugo still involved in an investgation when he was signed by TB. I thought he was cleared after he already signed, but I might be mistaken.
  11. You know its bad when Jon is losing his hope in this team. I haven't worn my Cubs hat since August and I didn't bother to watch or listen to any games after that. Hendry and Baker are the first two to suck out all of my optimism with the Cubs. So kudos to them. I'm just glad Pie's poor performance so far this fall will likely keep him in the minors. Right? Its a Catch-22 with Pie. I don't want him starting the season as the CF of the '06 Cubs but I don't want him to regress to the point that he won't be a good producer for the Cubs in the future.
  12. the amusing thing is that hendry said rusch offered things that not a lot of other guys could offer. pretty sure you don't have to look very hard to find a guy capable of a baa under .302 or a whip under 1.57. He offers a 1.57 WHIP and a .302 BAA for more than most pitchers in baseball. The only good that can come from this signing is my new avatar. Beat me to it! :afro:
  13. You know its bad when Jon is losing his hope in this team.
  14. I think the constant bad PR fearing Cubs will keep Hendry away from Bradley.
  15. He's a slap-hitting switch hitter who can't get on base to save his life and who at least looks like he might have some speed. In other words, he's Dusty's ideal #2 hitter. Don't forget, aside from those other qualities, he led the league in double plays. What's not to like!?! He often times will clean his spikes behind the pitcher's mound too.
  16. Why? Why? Why? I am beyond frustrated with this organization especially after today's absurd contract for Perez, but I still have no rational understand of why the Cubs are so hellbent on tradind Todd Walker. If constantly talking to the media is the only reason the Cubs want to trade him, I wish Todd Walker well and I know he'll be playing for a better organization.
  17. still questioning why I am.
  18. An absolutely horrible, horrible move. I can't fathom why he deserves two years. I'm assuming the Cubs are gonna make a big move at Furcal and have Cedeno starting at 2B. Waive bye bye to Walker and I'd expect Hairston to play CF if not traded.

  20. Have there been any good deals coming out of the GM meetings the past few years? It seems there's a whole lot of hype for these things but nothing fruitful comes from them.
  21. This is the dumbest thiing I've read in a while. Our suckitude had nothing to do with a mediocre offense, a pitching staff in shambles, 3/4 of the season without Nomar, and a moron with a toothpick in his mouth. No, it all came down to the fact no player would police the team. That was the "something" that was missing. That cost us 30 games in the standings. Does any of that discipline come from Baker?!?!?!?!?!? He's too busy making excuses for the crapfest known as the '05 Cubs to discipline anyone. How about the manager actually serving in the capacity as manager instead of being everyone's friend. Take your wristbands off and be a leader.
  22. I'm just glad Cano didn't win.
  23. This is an absolute must win game.
