    Back in my day, the cubs were always respectable at the break and consistently filled up an all star roster with sandberg, Dawson, grace, Dunston, Jody Davis, Maddux, sutcliffe, and even Vance law one year.

    Totally irrelevant but my son went through an nasty slump and every swing looked like that one. He simply wasn't letting the ball get deep ...... Was incredibly difficult to correct because it basics Lay comes down to confidence. The goofy swing seemed to come from starting to early reaching for a pitch that fooled him.

    My son has started pitching in youth ball. We picked up a lot of good tips off a website that highlights the mechanics of Greg Maddux and Nolan Ryan. Both kept their elbows below their shoulders after seperation. That's one thing I teach my youth pitchers as well. It just seems to create less stress and unnecessary arm movement. http://Www.chrisoleary.com

    In 1989 the cubs had 75th year commemorative programs, celebrating wrigley's 75th year. That was 24 years ago. Either the cubs are jumping the gun by a year or they suck at math.

    Dale hit 25 bombs in 87. Ops wasn't all that great but he wasn't a weak hitter. I'm thinking injuries may have gotten h......was thinking he was a fairly high regarded young player. Of course, I'm getting old and forgetful too.

    I'm admittedly dumb on team control rules, etc. Does Baez have a shot at 3b this year or is that one of those things where he needs more time in the minors--- to develop at third and to keep him under control longer?

    My favorite road unis are the 82-89 pullovers and the 90 gray. No chance those would work now. I like the idea of all white with some blue piping......would be a nice change of pace.
