  1. Saturday as our tour group took the field, Campana and Rizzo came out for early BP. Campana jumps on Rizzo's back and somehow ends up with a face full of Rizzo butt. I was just lucky enough to have the camera ready.
  2. for the record, I love Bryan LaHair and am glad he's an All Star. Those are just a couple of the funnier photos I took this past weekend in Chicago. Rizzo is a big man. . . .Campana, not so much.
  3. you tell me which one looks like an all star --- This guy. . . or this guy. . . Clearly a man who can have Tony Campana, the major's leading base stealer, motor boat your ass is the clear all star.
  4. My son's first game at wrigley. Dont F it up, cobs!
  5. the advertising bit is [expletive]. I live in Arkansas. I'm blacked out of Cardinals, Royals, Astros, and Rangers. I want to watch the Cubs. I want to pay someone lots of money to watch the Cubs. . . those people can advertise their crap to me at that time. As it is, they want me to watch the above mentioned craptacular teams. I won't watch. I won't see their ads. I won't buy their crap. Why is this so hard? Give each fan the ability to watch the team package they want. . . .charge a crap load for it. . . .PROFIT. My only option here is to switch satellite companies to direcTV, buy the EI, not get to watch all the games I want, etc etc etc. The direcTV exclusive is crap. The Fox rules are total crap as well.
  6. Looks like that June 29-30 wrigley trip will be good timing on my part!
  7. I've been a big fan for about 30 years. Yep, a 6 year old can be considered a big fan (when they can name the starting lineup of their favorite team!). Anyway, in all that time, I've never felt a sense of continuity, nor have I sensed any kind of long term organizational plan. Looking back, the Dallas Green era was the closest thing, and the tribune company didn't give it enough time to grow. So, that being said, I'm perfectly willing to let the new ownership / management group take the next 2-5 years to rebuild things from the ground up. If that means a few 90+ loss years, so what? In time, the Cubs have a better chance at sustaining success than they've ever had in my lifetime. I'm willing to suffer the growing pains. If the plan fails, . . . . well. . . .they're the Cobs, right?
  8. I really dig the SABR stats on the hitting side of things. I'm not totally onboard with the defensive stats (mostly due to my ignorance of them) so I'm still an old school guy who bases my thoughts on a defender on what I see. . . . . .. that being said, I'm enjoying the heck out of Castro's play at SS the last 3-4 weeks. He's playing with a lot of confidence.
  9. Assssssstro fans are the worst..... Also, as bad as the cubs are, they have not lost 100 games in a year in a long long time. That might change this year.
  10. Fukudome is knocking the holy hell out of the ball
  11. I like the idea of starting him. Retire his number, too. He's more than stats.
  12. strass dog was lopin' his mule with icy hot. . . . .very nice
  13. Who does he think he is, Ryne Sandberg??
  14. A friend of mine played for the Marlins in 2006. He said the highlight of spring training (other than getting the starting CF job) was having breakfast with Andre Dawson just about each morning. He said he was a very soft spoken guy, but was a wealth of information and learning opportunities.
  15. I think a 5 year deal, back loaded, with a NTC and 2 year player option at $18 million per year is in order.
  16. [expletive] you guys, this was a good joke. Too many young whipper snappers to appreciate the excitement that is Jem!
  17. damnit I want to hurt things every time I see his name. . . .not because I dislike him, but because of what could have been.. . . . .Prior, Wood, Zambrano, Maddux, Clement.
  18. it tells me the catcher caught it clean in the sweet spot of the mitt.
  19. August 1985. My parents took me to St Louis to see the Cubs and Cards. This was right around the time of the player strike in 85. Also during the cubs epic losing streak to fall completely out of the race in '85. John Tudor pitched a 1 hitter (Leon Durham), the Cubs turned a triple play, and Tom Herr went yard. I remember being awestruck by being in a major league stadium. first trip to Wrigley was August of 89. Cubs took on the Expos, over took them for 1st place and never looked back. Sandberg homered in back to back games (part of a 5 game streak). Good memories right there.
  20. My 8 yr old son pretty mucked summed it up by asking "who the crap is Shawn camp?" My best answer was "former player for the supersonics....has a bunch of kids"
