  1. Holy cow did I ever have one of the most painful conversations with a customer today. He comes in and sees my big painting of Wrigley, HoF 2005 framed program and Sandberg Day (97) framed program and said "ahh, a man after my own heart. I love the cubs, too." Then he commences to explain to me how Lee and Ramirez are so worthless (semi agree) . . . . . . Soto can't hit to save his life (WTF?). . . . . and the best thing the Cubs have going for them is Ryan Theriot. He said the worst thing they've done all year is move Theriot from SS. He said ol' Ryan is just a scrappy ball player, drives in runs, and does all the things that it takes to win ball games. He then said that Castro should never have been brought up because he's just not a good player. That's when I said, the guy is hitting .350 and putting up way better numbers than anyone else right now. My customer said, "Yeah, but it'll never last. They should send him down." The insane stupidity of the average joe amazes me. Oh, he said Fontenot and Theriot should be the double play combo -- no doubt. Then he said "Didn't DeRosa play on that LSU team with those guys?" I seriously laughed at the guy at that point. . . ..
  2. I was out in the CF bleachers, but managed to get some decent ones. . . . http://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs289.snc3/28105_399081793468_629003468_4047288_7935861_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash1/hs319.ash1/28105_399081913468_629003468_4047311_6295325_n.jpg Soriano connecting for a 1st inning dinger http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs279.snc3/28105_399081633468_629003468_4047263_3717674_n.jpg My son trying to get a ball during BP http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash1/hs319.ash1/28105_399081803468_629003468_4047290_3752256_n.jpg Marmol about to throw his last warm up pitch. . . Then, after he threw the pitch, the BP catcher looks up at us and throws Ryne a ball. . . . .YES! http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs289.snc3/28105_399081763468_629003468_4047284_1408202_n.jpg
  3. Section 51 on Friday night. If it wasn't you it was your evil twin. Funny thing about the Arlington bleachers --- 3 games, 3 fights with ejections (minimum). It happened every night. The funniest was the guy who got caught loading illegal booze into his "back pack with a straw." He was hammered.
  4. I'm no expert, but I'd say Aramis needs to do a better job of watching the ball. I took this on Saturday night. . . . you can't hit what you can't see http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs289.snc3/28105_399081623468_629003468_4047262_7897986_n.jpg this is also where I blast Vance for not saying "hello" on Friday night. . . . walked right by me and we both gave each other that "hey I know that guy" look. . .hahahaha.
  5. disclaimer: Arkansas Thanksgiving Turkeys ARE NOT filled with poop.
  6. he's as full of [expletive] as a thanksgiving turkey, but I'm glad he has a positive attitude.
  7. Look, it is what it is. What can I do? What do you want me to do? We just need to do a better of job of hitting with men on base. I don't know.
  8. quality work by imb and co.. . . . .. I'd choose the Sandberg game.
  9. is that the same Hank Blalock that was good for the rangers?
  10. There are similarities to 2007. The Cubs really arent worth a damn, but neither are any of the other craptacular teams in the NL Central. As bad as the Cubs have been, I'm amazed that they are still around 5 games out of first. Granted, being that close has a laundry list of things that piss me off, but I guess it is what it is (God, I hate that cliche).
  11. listened to him today at work. . . .wow, he was a lot worse that I expected.
  12. Hes left handed and there is a left handed pitcher on the mound, Nady should start over Colvin vs left handers ah, I see. Well, at least that makes sense.
  13. Why would they do that? Lou is gone at the end of this year even if they do fire him, and it's pretty clear they're looking at Sandberg as someone they want managing for at least a few years. Why saddle him and the perception of him as a manager with a bad team? I'd rather Ryno have a less than stellar interim job and ride off into the sunset. I'm not looking forward to the day when the masses, myself included, are screaming "Fire Sandberg!" It's gonna happen. In all honesty, Lou is not to blame in this mess. It's spread quite evenly from Hendry right down the line to the players. It's just depressing to know this team has, maybe, a 1 / 1,000,000 chance of turning this crap around. Do you mean that Lou isn't the only one to blame, or that he is completely blameless? Because if it's the first statement I agree wholeheartedly, but if it's the second I couldn't disagree more. Ha, I didn't do a good job typing that, did I? Lou is is far from blameless.

  15. And this is based on....? statistics. . . 60% of the time, it works all the time.
  16. this is turning into 2006 for me. That year, I woke up every morning hoping that Baker had been fired. I didn't give two craps whether or not the cubs won games. Might as well fire Lou, bring up Sandberg and see how that works for them.
  17. Fred -- you're just a hop, skip, and jump away from me. I'm over in Warren. What in the world are you doing over there. . . . Potlatch / Clearwater, maybe? Enjoy your time in the natural state. I'm taking my Mom to a AA game (Arkansas Travelers) so I get to miss out on watching another craptacular Cub game. Yay, me!
  18. You guys are crazy. This is setting up perfectly. Lee has a down year, thus costing big Jim less when he signs the contract extension. It really is a beautiful thing. Now, where's that green text button?
  19. dusty had the raised fist as well. . . . .don't they know that everyone beats the cubs?
  20. I find it amazing that he'll have to borrow a uniform. I live in bumfrick Arkansas but I'm pretty sure I could come up with a Starlin Castro jersey within 24 hours.
  21. no where to go but down. . . . .
  22. I was talking to Eric Reed, former FLA prospect / outfielder, and he said the worst thing people did was compare him to Pierre.
  23. I'm about as traditional as they come regarding Wrigley, but for crying out loud --- do it. Ads, jumbo tron, sausage races, whatever they think will generate money to put into bringing a World Series to the northside.
