  1. I didn't realize the inning was over. I thought there was 2 outs when the storm hit.
  2. wouldn't this be a suspended game?
  3. who is AG?? Adrian Gonzalez?? Is it even rumored about the Cubs getting him?
  4. I found it hilarious that they retaliated by hitting Theriot.
  5. I think it all goes back to management not DL'ing guys when they need to be on the DL. Sure, you're team gets weaker, but at least you have healthy bodies that can be put in. It's better than trying to get by with literally no bench and a craptastic bullpen.
  6. I think it's as simple as Lou wanting Theriot to, in fast ball situations, turn on the heater --- maybe get a gapper or even the occasional homer. I don't he's instructing the guy to completely change his approach. I'm not saying Theriot will be become a hall of fame middle infielder, but a similar approach was thrown at Sandberg in '84. Up to that point, he was not a power hitter. He was told to try and drive the ball in fastball situations. It worked out well for him. Maybe Theriot will see a boost in two-baggers and triples. . . . .beats the heck out of a single and crossing your fingers on him stealing :)
  7. Pitching and defense could really hurt the cards in the long run. However, it's baseball --- anything can happen. Well, almost anything.
  8. Damn you! Stealing my thunder!!!!
  9. My impression is that one of the Cubs' biggest problems is nagging injuries. They aren't bad enough for them to DL guys, but they are just bad enough to seriously limit the individual player's ability to perform well. I'd like to have seen them DL a couple guys, but what do I know? One can only hope the bullpen works itself out. I can't see any other option for those guys. . . . .AAA guys and / or trades may not solve the problem.
  10. Fergie Jenkins is the best Cubs player to wear 31. No knock on Maddux -- Maddux just didn't play enough seasons with the Cubs in comparison to Fergie.
  11. Clark hit .345 his last year (I think) and walked away. I have a feeling he could have hung around a while longer.
  12. Damnit, you let the cat outta the bag!!!! ;) Cool stuff, guy. I like reading this sort of thing. I was a little skeptical of the signing, but it sure has been fun watching Lilly pitch.
  13. I didn't know he played for the Dodgers
  14. Isn't your son old enough to step in yet? What's the holdup? He doesn't want to catch. He has his eyes set on taking Soriano's job. . . . http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=629003468#/video/video.php?v=67226683468&ref=mf sorry, i'm not smart enough to make a photo link. . . .
  15. I don't know what's worse --- Elvis impersonators or Harry Caray impersonators. . .. . . both are horrid and make me want to hurt things.
  16. Mark Johnson is at AAA and he has ML experience. . . . . and he gave my son a ball 2 or 3 years ago, so that makes him incredibly awesome in my book.
  17. Can we get Gary Gaetti if ARam goes down?
  18. I can't recall a time, in my 25+ years of watching the cubs, that they walked 3 times in a row with the bases loaded. Granted, I didn't keep up much, but it has to be rare for the free swingin' cubs of yester year.
  19. this sort of thing is why OMC is my favorite cub fan
  20. i'm excited to see Fukudome fall behind with 2 strikes, work the AB for a walk, and not bail on the junk low and away.
  21. I hope people understand how far the organization comes. There was a time when 81-81 predictions were great. Times when a winning season was "magical." Now, winning is expected. Playoffs are expected. No doubt, the past two post seasons have sucked, but the fact that the Cubs are now odds on favorites -- year in and year out -- is special. It's like what we all wished for when we saw the media love affair with the cardinals from 01 to 05 or so. . . . . it's something to be proud of. We don't suck :) ha!
