  1. Players in all sports are bigger now than 20+ years ago. Maybe it's rounds, maybe it's the chicken. I don't know.
  2. I was under the impression that bay was the suck. Maybe being a met drained him of his talent???
  3. Does he realize he plays for the mets?
  4. next step: pixie dust farm
  5. I don't know much about Haren. . . . totally understand the deadline trade possibility, but is this a guy that has potential to hang around a few years?
  6. wait til he serves his time. The prison rape stories would be great filler in blow out games.
  7. they've won 2 world series in my lifetime. I have no sympathy for them.
  8. grit, grinders, etc. . . [expletive] the whole lot of them and their stupid [expletive] don't stink fans. . . . so much hate right now.
  9. You want Memphis to win it all? Cause they will. so [expletive] true
  10. would it be too much to ask for the cardinals to all die in a fire? maybe just badly injured with all non-baseball related abilities still intact?
  11. just assumed it was a lubing message that ended with a price increase. Guess that will come later. . . .
  12. I'm for drunk Mark Grace. I like to be entertained.
  13. other than being obviously out at 2b, Maxwell went outside the baseline. . . . he appeared to go outside the 3ft allowed once a baseline is established.
  14. jack wagon astro announcers are riding castro's ass for not "going all out'' no mention of Sappelt trying to advance (on his own most likely) on a ball he never should have tagged on. . . . .
  15. I think those last two are player's children rather than wives. . . . wow Surprised at the amount of natural (small) fun bags in this collection. I expected better from millionaire wives.
  16. small sample size, but I think he has the best OPS of any of the starters.
  17. we should keep him, assuming DLee won't come out of retirement. . . .
  18. My folks surprised me in March of 1989 with tickets to games that August. I was 12 and baseball was my world. Sandberg had been my favorite player since his rookie year. the cubs were supposed to be terrible that year --- spring training was terrible. I finish up my baseball season in July and was anxiously awaiting the trip to Chicago. We see them play the expos on 8/8/89. The expos had a one game lead on the Cubs. Sandberg homered that game (it was during his 5 game homer streak), Maddux pitched a CG, and the cubs went into a tie for first --- they never fell out of first place after that day. We also watched the next day --- Cubs beat them again. Walton lead off the game with a HR, Sandberg homered again. I think Grace hit homers in both games, too. As long as I live, I'll never forget walking up the steps to the grand stands. . . . . the scoreboard, ivy, and bright green outfield grass come into view.
  19. I'll take "why starlin's lady friend cried wolf" for $600, alex. I think a simple "that's what she said" would have had a little more punch there. So easy. You know, that was my immediate thought; but so many other terrible jokes entered my brain at once. . . . . . bad sex joke overload, I suppose. So, on a serious note I am very happy the FO isn't too concerned about the recent slump. Having quite possibly the best SS in the majors (not necessarily the best right now) locked up long term is awesome!
  20. I'll take "why starlin's lady friend cried wolf" for $600, alex.
  21. As bad as the Cubs are, there is zero chance of catching the Astros. They are in their own league of bad. That hasn't stopped the jackass astro announcers from talking [expletive] about the cubs all series long. Someone should set their half of the booth on fire.
  22. AJ Piersznski (or however the crap you spell the White Sox catcher's name) has 22 bombs and a .901 OPS. All at age 35. He's never had much better than an .800 OPS. What's gotten into him?
  23. Cubs are 27-24 at Wrigley and 16-39 away. What gives? Is it a product of youth? Just a crappy team? I'd be interested in what the nsbb crew thinks. Just playing at a .400 clip on the road would give the cubs 6 more wins and an overall record of 49-57.
  24. Not terrible keeping garza. He will be a good pitcher and if we are in a similar position next year, he will be a valuable trade piece again.
