  1. Civale, Rogers, Rea. I don’t think Turner is left off the playoff roster. I think they go 12 pitchers and 14 bats.
  2. Plenty of time. And he doesn’t even have to go deep into the center of the circle. Just be a 6th inning guy. They have Kittredge, Theilbar, Keller and Palencia to cover the last 3.
  3. I know it was low leverage work, but Hodge looked good. If he can enter the circle of trust that gives the Cubs one more pen arm.
  4. A lot of complaints about Apple TV, but the Cubs have scored 10 or more runs the 3 times they did Cubs games. Maybe they should do all the games😬🤮
  5. Yep, Happ is just a solid ballplayer that this site hates, for some reason. But year in and year out he ends around the same. Above average offensively and a GG left fielder.
  6. Definitely an after the fact comment. 2 lefties coming up and Theilbar has been great. It was the right call. Theilbar just didn’t get the job done.
  7. And 2 lefties coming up. It was the right call, Theilbar just didn’t get the job done.
  8. As great a defender as PCA is, he seems to struggle on windy days. More than other outfielders.
  9. Has Dansby started to do better with risp lately, or am I imaging it. I feel he doubled on Monday’s comeback win and now this homer. Is that the only hits he got?
  10. I think the Phillies are the Cubs worst match up. 3 lefties in the rotation would be troubling for the Cubs. Fortunately as long as they don’t pass the Brewers I don’t see the Cubs facing them until the NLCS. Hopefully someone else beats them.
  11. Fair. But I do like the one a little. Playoff pen is different than regular season pen. They have Kittredge, Keller, Theilbar and Palencia(hopefully we get good Palencia). It would be nice if Hodge showed up down the stretch. There are definitely question marks in the pen, which is why I said I like them “a little”. But on the whole I agree with you, they have warts. But by suggesting they have a shot it seems you are acknowledging all teams do. And I agree with that as well. All we can ask for is a horsefeathers. And they will have it this year.
  12. Tell me more about these two months of baseball you apparently expect the Cubs to be playing. Most posters seem to expect much closer to 1 month. And, tbh, if they misused Boyd and Horton it will be around a month. If they do play 2 months it is pretty much proof they handled them correctly. Because they can’t play 2 months if those guys are not good.
  13. It also matters when this is posted. Has this been done a few days ago the giants wouldn’t have been over .500. So that 1-5 against them wouldn’t have mattered. I think people love to cherry pick results to make some sort of point. Without that 1-5, if done earlier, the Cubs would be over .500. I believe the Cubs are exactly .500 against the 6!teams that will make the playoffs for the Al, and 17-18 against the likely NL playoff teams, with 3 to play. Basically a nothing burger here.
  14. I agree I would have liked a better pen arm. But what did guys like Helsley, Doval, Bednar, Duran etc cost. Never mind Miller. Padres traded the 5th ranked prospect in baseball for him. How well have those guys done, anyway? 🤷 Edit: would have liked Iglesias. He couldn’t have cost that much.
  15. It appears so. Which is why he is in the game now. Counsell doesn’t ever chase wins using his high end guys.
  16. His total season body of work is bad. I agree with that. But the last 2 starts before this one he has thrown 13 innings and given up 6 hit. 2 quality starts. And 3 of his last 4 have been good (now 4 of 5). It is baseball. horsefeathers happens.
  17. Does anyone here know the availability of Counsell’s pen? I would guess that answer is no. There is just so much hot takr bs here it is ridiculous. From Peanut saying “shocking” when the Cubs blow the lead to everyone on Brown, who, btw, didn’t give up the homer, this a maddening response. You would think this is a team under 500 not a team with the 3rd best record in baseball. Good teams lose games. Padre were swept at home by the Orioles. Dodgers lost their series. It happens.
  18. What? He gave up 2 runs in 6 innings in Colorado. I think you are thinking of Houston.
  19. I think once the Cubs are securely slotted at 1st WC team Horton will pitch even less. Maybe keep him in his schedule but only thrown 2 or 3 innings. They. Wed him for the playoffs.
  20. I agree. Yes, his voice wasn’t great. But he did a good job describing the game.
  21. By design the Cubs are keeping him at 75 or so pitches. He can easily go 7 if they gave him a 90-100 pitch limit. But they aren’t going to do it this year.
  22. Didn’t he win a game for them against the Brewers. 3 run homer and threw a guy out at the plate. I know he hasn’t hit, but that win was huge.
  23. I like long, but this would hardly be worst case for him. This is not his floor. His floor is never being a major league player . That is worst case.
