  1. Well it is Jed. So of course he has to screw things up, right???? 😬
  2. True. I guess I just don’t agree with the notion that Jed will be shopping down a tier from the top “because that is what he always does”. He doesn’t always do that at the TDL.
  3. 278/333/410 196/274/339 Those are Turner’s numbers versus Busch when facing a left handed pitcher. So why is CC wrong to go with Turner here?
  4. I don’t really agree with that. He traded for Candelario, who was the top of the market bat when they did it. He was also aggressive last year getting Parades. The issue might be there are no top of the market guys available this deadline.
  5. I think you are going to be disappointed. I don’t think he gets 4 new players. Hoping for at least 2, would be happy if it was 3 and surprised if it was 4.
  6. I get it. Cubs rearranged the rotation to give Boyd extra rest at the all star break. And now, if he goes Tuesday he lines up for the first game in the Brewers series. So makes sense to let him go Tuesday with Brown tomorrow.
  7. Hopefully there is a delay after 3 or 4 innings and Crochett doesn’t come back out.
  8. 👍I have the weather channel app and I use Wrigley zip code. My says 15% chance. 🤷 So who knows…..
  9. What are you seeing that makes you think there will be an issue playing this game without interruption? I see overcast with a 15% chance of rain. So not that likely.
  10. Wouldn’t Kriste and Roberts go before Flexen? Even if Brown is brought up for one of those guys, if the Cubs only add one pitcher wouldn’t the other guy go before Flexen?
  11. I think he will go Tuesday if they want him to face the Brewers after that one.
  12. My weather app is showing 15% chance of rain at Wrigley all afternoon. No real issues that I see.
  13. I think I would like to see the Cubs get the best rental pitcher they could without giving up a top 6-8 prospect on the team. That could be a guy like Kelly. Others to consider are Lugo, Soroka, Morton and even Gallen. I also would be ok with them adding a bench bat/3rd baseman as a rental as well. Probably not Suarez, since he might cost too much for a rental. But Castro would be a good pick up. They can add enough to win this year and still keep their best prospects if they stick with rentals. And unless Ryan or Gore are realistically available, I would rather do that then trade for just a decent pitcher (Keller, as an example) and have to lose a top 5 prospect just because they have control over him a few years.
  14. Agree with you on how I see the deadline. Definitely a pitcher or two. Maybe a bat. But I don’t think it will be a Shaw replacement. Might be Shaw insurance, bench help.
  15. You think twins will get more than Long for Castro, who is a rental? I doubt that. I think that is actually too much for Castro.
  16. He definitely stopped and then started heading toward 3rd again. PCA did slow down but that was because he was in position to catch the ball. I really don’t think PCA did anything INTENTIONALLY to fool the guy on second. But for some reason him stopping did give the runner the idea the ball was dropping. Which makes no sense at all to me. I was at the game and my seats were behind home plate. I had the same view as the runner. It was obvious to everyone around us the ball was going to be caught. As I said, PCA catching the ball in position to throw as quickly as possible was a very nice play by Pete. And he fired a strike to second. But I cannot give him credit for fooling the runner on purpose.
  17. 100% with you on this one. PCA didn’t do anything to deceive. Just a bone headed baserunning play. Listened to both the Red Sox announcers and the Cubs announcers, and saw the play live at the game. All agreed it was just a terrible read by the runner.
  18. What Pete did do very well is release the ball very quickly and accurately. I am sure Happ was yelling to throw to second. Pete was very quick to react after catching the ball.
  19. I do think the Cubs will win the central. But to suggest not even worrying about the Brewers sound like someone in denial. Fact is, they are a very good team. They can pitch and field and do enough offensively to be a scary team. Admitting concern over the Brewers isn’t disrespecting the Cubs or suggesting they are better than the Cubs. It is just acknowledging they have a good team. If this were the first time the Brewers “overachieved” their expectations I would agree that it won’t continue. But they have done the same thing for years. That said, they are not going to continue to play .700 ball, like they have for around 45 games now. But I don’t expect them to go away, either. Cubs might have to win 95 games and the season series to beat the Brewers. Which I think they can. But that doesn’t mean I am not worried about the Brewers.
  20. It was amazing. And because it was 99.9% certain he would be safe, he did slow down a little at the end. Great, awesome throw. But the runner helped him out there.
