  1. Is this what is happening? I mean, it makes sense. Honestly, if Assad can only replace an injured player, I hope this is the move. If not, that means someone else is injured. I just have t seen anything official. Maybe Assad is here as precaution, and Horton won’t miss a start. But, honestly, he should just shut things down for a few starts.
  2. Absolutely. He would have been great now and in the future. It would allow the Cubs not to have to depend on Horton so much and give him a breather. And then next year their staff would be awesome. That said, it wasn’t just Cassie for Cabrera, I am sure. I think the ask for high end guys was crazy. So they didn’t make a move. But if you are asking would they be better off with Cabrera in the rotation and not has Cassie to come up, my answer would be, hell yes.
  3. Assuming the Cubs don’t catch the Brewers I think I would be ok with if they held off the Padres and got them at Wrigley. At least the Padres won’t be trotting out lefties to face the Cubs to start games. And I believe the Padres struggle against left handed pitching. So Boyd and Imanaga should do well.
  4. Maybe if Cassie was in the game he wouldn’t have made that great a throw home. CC is playing 3 dimensional chess.
  5. 😅 very true. I generally stay away from all the announcer/PA/singer conversations and even I got sucked into this one. Been a terrible stretch, that is for sure. Right now people are complaining about all things Cubs. And I get the frustration.
  6. It should just be Harry. Or if they want they can replay ex Cubs who did it too. Santo, Sandberg. Guys like that. Not some nonsense celebrities without a Chicago connection. Mainly Harry but as I said, legendary ex cubs would be ok too, either a recording or them doing it live. Guys like Zobrist, Fergy, Rizzo, Sarge, etc…. FYI, Ray Burris wouldn’t qualify as a legendary Cub…..
  7. I’m not sure they can send down Little after the first game, but they can send Brown down. That might be the move.
  8. I do notice his voice is very similar to the previous PA guy. I actually like him, if I leaned one way or the other about the PA guy. But really I think I like him because I don’t really notice him. He blends into the sounds of the game and that is fine by me.
  9. This is true. But also can’t ignore the .130 point drop in BABIP without thinking there can also be some real luck involved.
  10. Going today. Bet it doesn’t end up bothering me at all.
  11. Yes, your crazy. 😬 I don’t even notice him. And I go to a lot of games as well.
  12. While I do think there is something to be said for Assad getting out of trouble and there may be some “skill” to it since he has done it for years, I don’t think it is something the Cubs should bank on continuing at the rate it has done. He is an ok #5 pitcher who can pitch 5 innings and not bury the team. Nothing more.
  13. True. After I answered about today I looke d at the precious 2 days. Was going to post it but you beat me to it. I would think Kittredge is down tomorrow. Not sure who else. Maybe they send Brown down since he won’t be available for several days.
  14. Today, anyway, it didn’t appear they used their top guys. They can do that with a 9 game lead.
  15. I think shocked is a little strong. I wouldn’t even be surprised, let alone shocked. Sure, they may not win 3 of 5 but they have as much a chance of doing so as the Brewers do.
  16. He is ok as a 5th starter, or a swing starter. Nothing more than that. He does seem to gr out of trouble, but I would rather he didn’t get in trouble. He isn’t very good.
  17. If the sweep is part of the Cubs winning 14 in a row they might be in first by the time it ends… I know that isn’t happening. It’s a joke.
  18. The two most maligned players on the team come through to get the Cubs a win. Way to go Ian and Dansby.
  19. I do worry about the durability of the rotation. I agree with you.
  20. Not sure why you quoted me, but honestly I don’t see anyone moved that would have helped the Cubs offense.
  21. Our country is run by someone who thinks otherwise!
  22. I don’t think squally is suggesting Cassie won’t be a good player. I think he is saying the fan base who loves to bitch about good players whose profile might be high K’s will complain about Cassie once he is a Cub. Look what they do to Swanson and Happ, who are both good players.
  23. I honestly don’t think the reds will not be close. But I can’t really disagree with what you are saying. I just don’t think they will back in. I think they will be fine. And once the playoffs start they can beat anyone in the playoffs. Obviously they can go out quickly too. But for now, my focus is on getting there. And I believe they will be fine.
