  1. Now Cabrera and they salvage the deadline. Or Gore and they get an A. Any chance Ryan comes with Castro.
  2. If there is a positive, the Brewers did even less. And I couldn’t care less what AL teams did. Sure, Mets, Phillies and Padres went bigger, but good chance we only face one of those teams. I think last minute we might see Jelly or Morton. I can’t believe Marlins won’t trade one of those pitchers. And if they wanted Spencer Jones from the Yankees would Cassie or even Alcantara be as good or better than him?
  3. You are way more confident than I am. I was earlier, but not so much any longer. I still think Cabrera is the most likely controlled pitcher.
  4. I think Jason explained why Horton could be in a Gore deal perfectly several pages ago. If Horton can only give the Cubs maybe 30 innings the rest of this year, as an example, he could make sense being traded for Gore.
  5. I don’t believe the Astros can possibly offer more than the Cubs for any of those guys considering they just traded for Correa.
  6. Hahn was just asked about Gore for Cassie, Wiggins and Alcantara. He said if he was the Nationals FO he would drive Gore to the airport. Said it was too much. So does something like Horton and Alcantara get him if the Cubs add another young (not too 10) prospect? I think I would do that.
  7. Rationally, I know this. And as long as rentals like Kelly, Gallen, Cease, Morton etc are still around the Cubs do have fallbacks. I just don’t understand what would make the price of a controlled pitcher go down. Why would the Marlins, Twins or Nationals lower their price on a guy they can just keep and trade next year? I think the price is set. Do the Cubs want to pay it. Period.
  8. This would be amazing. Yes, I would love to be in the room where the Cubs FO discusses moves.
  9. I realize this. And that is why I am still hopeful. But I am watching mlb trade deadline special and the Cubs are not even talked about, with the exception of Rick Hahn saying if Cease is traded the Cubs make the most sense.
  10. Yep. Starting to get concerned. They helped their team some, but there is more to do. This would be a c- deadline.
  11. It does. Wonder if the Cubs just were not interested in Bednar or the Pirates asked for more from the Cubs because of being in the division.
  12. I can see Iglesias assuming he doesn’t cost much, at all. He makes a lot of money so if the Cubs take his salary the prospect doesn’t need to be much. Other than that, I doubt they do anything else with the pen.
  13. Isn’t Guerrero a longer deal? 10/$500 is high unless they have deferred money. I am thinking 12/$500M
  14. Not getting Suarez doesn’t bother me in the least. They need at least a solid MOR starter. That’s way more important than Suarez. .
  15. Great question. I was wondering the same thing. Also, I honestly do not think the Cubs get a deal done for a controlled starter. Look at what Bieber went for. A top 100 guy. What the hell would teams be asking for Gore, Ryan, Cabrera, Alcantara or Keller? In some cases probably 3 top 100 guys or more. Even the least desirable would cost Cassie+. I am starting to lean to best rental. And even that could cost Long or more. My hope is Kelly.
  16. That would eliminate plan B. Sure hope they add a decent starting pitcher.
  17. Ok, didn’t know that. Rasmussen is a bad idea then. I think Jason summaried the day pretty well. I would just add a 3rd option if they can’t get a controlled starter and Bieber is too pricey. The rental. And if those I would be ok with Kelly, Morton and Gallen, in that order. I also wouldn’t mind Iglesias if he is cheap.
  18. I am going to toss out a hunch name. Drew Rasmussen. He has one more year of control after this one. Rays usually dump these sort of guys!at this time. The Cubs and Rays have gotten together before so they know each others organization. Just feels like a move that Jed would/could make.
  19. That would be the perfect world. I agree.
  20. I thought you were high in him. Not the case any longer?
  21. Kelly would fit in well with that combo. One high end guy who is a high risk and one steady starter. And, of course, a solid pen arm. I will add that with Hawkins having ties to the Guardian FO it is probably something they can work out.
  22. I think I like plan B better. I think Kelly would be a fine add to the rotation and Jax to the open. Plus Jax could probably start next year in the rotation. I know that isn’t the point of your post. And I also agree with your POV. Just chiming in on what I like more. I would like it more if Castro is added to Jax.
  23. Best part of the line up. Why not Keller? Maybe he even throws the next inning. Off day tomorrow.
