  1. Yep. If Padres beat the Dbacks, Az is eliminated. So they have nothing to play for. Basically the same situation the Cubs have. Home team who needs a win against a division rival. Cubs need 1 or 4 games to go their way. It SHOULD happen.
  2. Just want to point out Dansby has 11 errors. And has way more plays many SS don’t make. It is ridiculous that people can say anything negative about Dansby in the field. Yes, he make a few errors, but hardly something to go off on.
  3. This is probably true, but if you are on vacation in Europe do you really want to sit and watch the game? I am a huge fan, but even I wouldn’t do that. Typically I try not vacationing in October.
  4. If the Yankees win the division I would guess the Cubs might get a little better game time. If the Dodgers, Cubs and Yankees all played in rd 1 my guess is the Cubs would be a day game. I would say AL central winner plays the first game, Cubs second, Yankees 3rd and Dodgers the late game. If Yankees win the division maybe the Cubs get the prime time game.
  5. I was in Italy the year the Cubs lost to the Brewers in the one game for the division and then the Rockies for the wild card. I got the final few innings on the radio when I woke up, through mlb. Heard Pat call the elimination game.
  6. If he was going to BEAN him it would have been on the head, not the knee. No one gets beaned in the knee.
  7. I think it is more complicated than that. I thought after this year the Cubs could exercise an option to go 3 year more and he would total out at $8OM for 5 years. If they didn’t do that he could then exercise an option at $15M. Honestly I don’t know all the particulars. I do know there is a little funk in his contract. Which is why I said it isn’t 100 certain he is back. I do believe he will be. Just not a zero chance.
  8. Cubs offense looks to be back. At least that is a great sign.
  9. I wouldn’t say zero chance. I am more in line with Bertz comment “very little chance”, but there is a chance.
  10. Padres are worse against left handed pitchers than right handers. And the main bat they traded for to help against let handed pitching will not be available for the WC round.
  11. I would bet anyone it isn’t Horton and Taillon in game 1 and 2.
  12. Interesting. No mention of a homer by the Cubs. Just negative comments. Have to love this fan base. If/when they lose you will all finally get what you want.
  13. What was the hit probability on Soto’s ball? What a catch. Happ made a great play earlier.
  14. It’s Dansby’s ball. It is always Dansby’s ball. Shaw should have gotten the hell out of the way. Doesn’t matter if you like it or not, that is how the Cubs have done it for years. A rookie isn’t going to change their mind.
  15. Maybe. But what makes you think Cam Smith hits for more power? He has 9 homers while playing in Houston. Shaw has 13. And Shaw has 60 less AB.
  16. Oh, absolutely. He was struggling mightily. Hopefully he can get right back into what he was doing his last 52 AB.
  17. And tigers own the tie breaker against the Astros. They are one up and own the tie breaker.
  18. What do you mean? He was doing well when he got hurt. He came out of his funk and was hitting. How is that all kinds of jumbled? In 52 AB before his injury he was hitting .364 with OBP of .462 and slugging .727.
  19. He would probably be in their sites as well.
  20. I think guys like King or Gallen could be in play.. I agree it won’t be Valdez. And I don’t want Cease. I am not sure what other pitchers are free agents.
  21. They did. Only guy they kept was Gallen. Naylor, Suarez and Kelly traded.
  22. I can see Cassie at some point if there is an injury. If they don’t sign Tucker I expect Ballesteros to be the DH. As you said, sign another outfielder/bench bat. I think they will spend on a pitcher. Either a FA (Cease, King, Gallen) or a controllable pitcher like Ryan, Cabrera, Gore or Ryan. And if they do go that route I think Cassie is gone
  23. I think it is Ballesteros or Cassie. Not both. They don’t have to trade anyone. Just don’t sign Tucker and there is a spot. I have no idea why people just think minor league players are plug and play and can play well. If you get one in a year you are lucky. Opening a spot for 2 is saying you aren’t trying. Cassie and Ballesteros cannot replace Tucker and either Seiya or Happ. But since I don’t see them signing Tucker, I do think one one of those guys will get the chance.
