  1. Except bunting doesn’t necessarily increase your chance of scoring. And they didn’t score.
  2. Maybe. But if he is that bad against a lefty then maybe Schidt made a bad decision hitting him clean up. He runs well, so double play isn’t that likely. Also, what is more likely, scoring a run with a man on first with no outs or a man on second with one out? I seem to remember most if the modern day metrics suggest bunting in that spot not a good idea. Also, keep in mind, just because you decide to bunt doesn’t mean it is automatically man on second with one out. That can be screwed up too. .
  3. I little unconventional going with Kittredge to start the game. I wonder if the plan is Kittredge for 1 inning, Shoto for 4 and maybe Rea, Civale or Soroka for a couple. Then you have lefties and Keller to close it out. They are going to have to get innings from someone other than Keller, Pomeranz and Theilbar tomorrow. Palencia is probably not available. Honestly I wouldn’t mind if the plan was Rea after Shoto and he take it as far as he can.
  4. I thought we can count on Dansby to make errors late in the season and playoffs. Isn’t that what you said previously? So now you are saying his D will be there. So which is it?
  5. He did hit. Lead off the 9th with a single and came around to score. And he didn’t get a big contract for his hitting. He has always been an average hitter. He got the contract, which was the lowest of the given to the top FA SS that year, because of his all around play.
  6. Me neither. But I didn’t like Palencia coming in when he did either. So what do I know🤷
  7. Careful what you wish. You have to remember the nonsense he spews doesn’t have to be factual. Just need something bad to happen so he can go off. My hope is he never shows himself again.
  8. Interestingly enough, had Schidt called it with Bogaerts on 3rd he would have scored on the play by Swanson.
  9. It was the contact play. Ramirez is running as soon as the ball is hit, period. It isn’t bad baserunning. Besides that, playing out. If he doesn’t run they get the guy at 1st. Then the next batter grounds out and they don’t score.
  10. I think bunting with Merrill was a dumb move by Shildt. That is so 70’s baseball and proven not to be the right move.
  11. Since Merrill bunting is showing how to play winning baseball, can you tell me if they scored that inning with that successful bunt?
  12. Padres put Miller in any time of the game they need outs. So no reason the Cubs had to save Palencia. I didn’t like the move because I didn’t trust Palencia. But the reason behind it does make sense, assuming Counsell felt Palencia is the guy to lock it down.
  13. I remember that. If not for Dansby it could be 4-0 or worse right now.
  14. Probably. If no injuries I can only see him PH.
  15. Love how well Ballesteros handled himself in September. But who is he replacing in order to get playing time? Other than PH, who does he replace?
  16. Pretty sure he meant with the scheduling. Many people falsely thought the Cubs got screeed out of home field advantage. They did not.
  17. So do you think it has to be multiple runs down before he is used to eat innings, or if they are down 2-1 after 4, is Civale trusted to keep it that close? Do you only see him in a game down 3 or more?
  18. Good to hear that about Civale. I can absolutely see him, Soroka and Rea pitch multiple meaningful, high leverage innings in this series. Not just mop up.
  19. Not surprised at 12 pitchers. I am surprised Rogers is one of them. Guess they wanted a lefty over Assad. It was apparent Assad wasn’t going to make it when he threw 80 pitches. But if they wanted him they could have had him just go 2 innings and he would have been fine for the WC round. Also, must not have liked what Hamilton was doing in Iowa so decided to just stick with Kevin as pinch runner who can hit a little, if needed. Ballesteros solid finish and some ability to play 1st base if they absolutely had to out him there made Santana a non option. Only real suspense to me would be Rogers. Hope they don’t use him.
  20. I think Jamo goes game one of the NLDS
