  1. Not sure if Castro’s glove at 3rd. But if he is decent I could see him in for Shaw at least one game. And if he hits, maybe another. Shaw has looked overmatched. That said, Cubs lean to defense when deciding who plays. So not sure they go with Castro. Honestly I was a little surprised Ballesteros didn’t pinch hit for Shaw in the 7th yesterday. Man in second and 2 outs. I thought that was the time for Mo. But CC chose to stay with Shaw. Had to be because he wanted his glove the last 2 innings.
  2. I think it will be Alcantara left off the next roster.
  3. I agree Assad will be added. I would be shocked if it was Horton instead. I think best case scenerio for him is he is in the rotation for thr NLCS.
  4. Yep. He got rid of the 3rd best prospect in all of baseball for Miller. And they are out of the playoffs. And might have to cut payroll. Would have been nice having a top prospect to build your team again. Peller and the Padres organization were getting praise for getting Miller yesterday and I was going to point out this very scenerio could change the perception of that deal. If in 3 years that prospect is a star while the Padres are struggling, Peller will be criticized for that deal. In one day that trade went from Peller really had urgency to win so Miller is worth whatever the cost to damn they traded for Miller and still lost. And now they lost a top prospect to build aeound. Maybe they gave away too much🤷
  5. He was lucky to get to that one. No chance that would have been an error. Just getting a glove on it was a tough play.
  6. Except neither play would have been an error. He made great plays to get to the balls he got to.
  7. I think they go Assad or Rea for game 1. Boyd game 2, Shota game 3, Tailon game 4 and back to Boyd game 5. Peralta is good, but he will probably only pitch 5 or 6 innings.
  8. I seriously doubt Boyd pitching on 3 days rest. Honestly, there is no reason for it either. If Boyd pitches game 2 he can come back for game 5, if need be. Go with Assad on a short start. Maybe 3 innings. Follow with Rea and/or Soroka and get through 6.
  9. I agree with all of this. Maybe people will stop ragging on Swanson. He is worth his contract and been a very solid player. They won this series because of him. I think Caesar asked what positive thing does anyone remember about Swanson. Well this would be one.
  10. I was all in every game. It is the modern day playoffs. Have to be excited about that. Lots of pacing and muttering under my breath. This wins means the season was a good one. Sure, I think they can win another one. But I am not going to let that expectation temper my excitement of winning the WC round.
  11. Yes, he could only replace an injured player. And that injured player couldn’t play in the next series. I doubt Horton comes back at all. But even if he did, I think the Cubs have to win this series without him.
  12. We were remodeling our home during that time. I had one 9x9 office with a couch and a tv in the room. It was the only room not under construction. It didn’t have a clock. But, yes, I didn’t get much sleep that year. I now live in Arizona, so games end early. Love live sports on Pacific time.
  13. I would not rule out Soroka. I think Assad most likely (40%) then Rea and Soroka (30%)
  14. I doubt Boyd starts on short rest. It could be Assad, Soroka or Rea. Would be karma if they went Civale and he shut the Brewers down. Relax…… I don’t want Civeli. They are only playing 2 games on Sunday because they don’t want to go against the NFL with 4 games. The days off do set up nice. Basically the Cubs can most likely use anyone they want from the pen every game. What got lost in all the slobbering by the announcers of the Padres pen was the Cubs pen was pretty damn good as well.
  15. I agree it was a good season, even if they lose today. They won 92 games and Steele was out almost all year. Imanaga, Taillon and Assad missed time. Tucker was out a bit. I wouldn’t say they limped into the playoffs, record wise. As you said, no different than several other teams. They got in by 9 games. That isn’t limping in. The final blow of losing Horton may do them in. But if it does and today is the last day, this has still been a solid year. I also expect them to be good again next year.
  16. Pretty small sample size by all of them. And all when Darvish was a better pitcher than he is now. Darvish has really regressed this year. Not sure comparing what the Cubs did against him years ago, when he was actually good, is relevant today. But your right. They didn’t hit a younger, better, Darvish in the past.
  17. I was a little late for seeing Banks as a star. The stars were Santo and Williams. Santo is my all time favorite Cubs. He truly loved the team. And was a great guy. I know numerous stories of him during his playing days and in retirement. Just a good guy. So was Williams. Actually Billy still is. I just got an autographed ball by him.
  18. This is something I don’t say often. I agree with you Caesar. I think whoever wins this series will beat the Brewers. The days off fit perfectly into the Padres being able to use their pen. And, for that matter. The Cubs too. Cubs top guys in the pen have been very good.
  19. I was wondering about that. Hit the 3 dots at the top of your post. Just go to edit on your response and than add more narrative. Also, doubt you are older than I am. Lighten up a little too. I was only messing around. Old timers need to stick together, even if we don’t agree on a lot.
  20. So maybe now answer the question you asked yourself. We are all waiting for your response.
  21. Still a bad decision by Counsell. I was sure they were pulling Shota. Very surprised he pitched to Machado. Either take him out and don’t Machado with a righty pen arm or walk Machado and face Merrill. When he decided to leave Shota in I was sure they would want Machado. Not scoring any runs cost them the game. But that doesn’t mean the pitching decision wasn’t a mistake.
