  1. He is also the guy who has pitched 3 very good games in a row against good teams. Nap maybe “right now” he doesn’t suck.
  2. I could see Wiggins brought up. Why not? Mets brought up 2 young pitchers recently. One started in A ball this year. Why not Wiggins. Maybe him and Horton work a piggyback start hoping to get 7 innings from them. If Counsell likes what he saw and wants him I wouldn’t have an issue with it. I mentioned it as a possibility weeks ago.
  3. They won 95 games in 2018. Tied for the most in the NL. It counts. They just didn’t hit in either playoff game. Brewers won the last 8 to tie the Cubs who went 5-3 in their last 8.
  4. Cade will be over 120 innings if he makes all his starts, maybe even getting to 130. That is enough. He may not win it, but I don’t think only having 22-25 starts is going to hinder his chances. Now if the Cubs take him out of the rotation now, maybe he doesn’t win.
  5. Yes, that was me. It is natural to only focus on flaws the team you watch has. But they all do. The Cubs probably have a 50/50 in any series they are in. No team is clearly better, but there is also no team the Cubs should obviously beat. All the money the Dodger and Mets spent didn’t make them any more likely to win a ahort series tha. The Cubs are. Hopefully good fortune is on the Cubs side this playoffs.
  6. I remember that coming out of Harry’s mouth. But I think the wind is tougher for PCA. I have seen him misplay more than one ball on windy days. Maybe there isn’t wind in Southern Cal.
  7. Let’s see how it plays out if Tucker does go on the IL.
  8. How have Warren and Patrick been better than Horton? Horton’s era is about 1.5 lower than Warren and .75 lower than Patrick. I get that some don’t believe Horton’s results, but his results are what they are. Way better than either of those guys. The ROY award is going to go to someone with actual results. Not someone who should be better, but his numbers do not reflect it. Horton has also gotten better as the year has gone on. Yes, early his K rate was bad. But he has gotten much better there. He is the better pitcher now and will be a better pitcher than either of those guys going forward.
  9. Even if the IL him I would guess Cassie doesn’t get much playing time. I would guess you would see Santana as DH or Castro play some. Maybe Cassie get a start, but he isn’t a sure start, IMO.
  10. Yep, if the Brewers had 10 less wins, which would still be a team in the playoffs and better than most expected them to be, the Cubs would have a comfortable lead and this site would be much less anxious. Cubs have had a very good year. And yet people find all kinds of issues with the team. They are not a great team.’they are flawed. But no more that any other team in baseball.
  11. Civale, Rogers, Rea. I don’t think Turner is left off the playoff roster. I think they go 12 pitchers and 14 bats.
  12. Plenty of time. And he doesn’t even have to go deep into the center of the circle. Just be a 6th inning guy. They have Kittredge, Theilbar, Keller and Palencia to cover the last 3.
  13. I know it was low leverage work, but Hodge looked good. If he can enter the circle of trust that gives the Cubs one more pen arm.
  14. A lot of complaints about Apple TV, but the Cubs have scored 10 or more runs the 3 times they did Cubs games. Maybe they should do all the games😬🤮
  15. Yep, Happ is just a solid ballplayer that this site hates, for some reason. But year in and year out he ends around the same. Above average offensively and a GG left fielder.
  16. Definitely an after the fact comment. 2 lefties coming up and Theilbar has been great. It was the right call. Theilbar just didn’t get the job done.
  17. And 2 lefties coming up. It was the right call, Theilbar just didn’t get the job done.
  18. As great a defender as PCA is, he seems to struggle on windy days. More than other outfielders.
  19. Has Dansby started to do better with risp lately, or am I imaging it. I feel he doubled on Monday’s comeback win and now this homer. Is that the only hits he got?
  20. I think the Phillies are the Cubs worst match up. 3 lefties in the rotation would be troubling for the Cubs. Fortunately as long as they don’t pass the Brewers I don’t see the Cubs facing them until the NLCS. Hopefully someone else beats them.
  21. Fair. But I do like the one a little. Playoff pen is different than regular season pen. They have Kittredge, Keller, Theilbar and Palencia(hopefully we get good Palencia). It would be nice if Hodge showed up down the stretch. There are definitely question marks in the pen, which is why I said I like them “a little”. But on the whole I agree with you, they have warts. But by suggesting they have a shot it seems you are acknowledging all teams do. And I agree with that as well. All we can ask for is a horsefeathers. And they will have it this year.
  22. Tell me more about these two months of baseball you apparently expect the Cubs to be playing. Most posters seem to expect much closer to 1 month. And, tbh, if they misused Boyd and Horton it will be around a month. If they do play 2 months it is pretty much proof they handled them correctly. Because they can’t play 2 months if those guys are not good.
  23. It also matters when this is posted. Has this been done a few days ago the giants wouldn’t have been over .500. So that 1-5 against them wouldn’t have mattered. I think people love to cherry pick results to make some sort of point. Without that 1-5, if done earlier, the Cubs would be over .500. I believe the Cubs are exactly .500 against the 6!teams that will make the playoffs for the Al, and 17-18 against the likely NL playoff teams, with 3 to play. Basically a nothing burger here.
  24. I agree I would have liked a better pen arm. But what did guys like Helsley, Doval, Bednar, Duran etc cost. Never mind Miller. Padres traded the 5th ranked prospect in baseball for him. How well have those guys done, anyway? 🤷 Edit: would have liked Iglesias. He couldn’t have cost that much.
