  1. At this moment? No, but it would be good enough "if" Jeffery improves and Bennett actually stays healthy the whole season. I also expect that Bears will add a WR and TE this offseason. My other thing is that Bears have other needs and if they're looking at WR, it's for a burner/downfield threat type WR. Marshall is a better version of Boldin and Jeffery has a similar skill set as those 2. That's why I don't see Bears making a run at Boldin. If Bears didn't have Marshall, I would totally be all over Boldin (or possibly Bowe if you think he can step up with a good QB). I believe Bears cap space is 13.3 mil this offseason. A good chunk of that will go to Melton (5 mil or less is what I'm hoping) and a couple mil to the draft picks.
  2. Why? why what? why cut him or why sign him? Why would Bears make a run at him?
  3. Top 5 IMO or at least you can make a case for top 5. You got Phil, Red, and Riley ahead of him for sure. Then there are guys like Larry Brown, KC Jones, Chuck Daly, Jerry Sloan, etc., but I'm not sure if any of those guys should be ahead of Popovich. One could make the argument that Pop passes Riley by the time his career is over. Oh I agree. I wrote that more in the sense of "right now" than when his career is over. It's going to be tough IMO considering Riley went to the championship 9 times (winning 5 of them) and 3 Coach of the Year and Popovich has 4 (won all 4 though) and 2 so far. I wonder how much longer will Popovich coach as he's in his mid 60s now.
  4. The crowd on the 16th hole is freaking rowdy. I could get into golf more if every hole was like that. I wouldn't be surprised if we started seeing more holes like that. Apparently TPC Scottsdale has gone public now, also. $300 for a round, but worth it to play it once. Not sure which one was my favorite one was as there were several. When both caddies dove for the green or Padraig Harrington kicking footballs into the stands plus a couple more. I had a buddy who was there on the 16th 2 years ago and said it was amazing. He wants me to come visit him next year so we can both go. I hope we see more "stadiums" type holes, but it's gonna have to be at courses that are pretty "open" so you can build all those stands. $300 a round? Wow... I rather play Torrey Pines again or if I REALLY wanna drop some cash, I'll go to Pebble Beach. Possibly Bethpage (Black) since it's pretty cheap. Although I have played Whistling Straits before ($300+), but a friend's dad paid for my round. All of my other rounds have been at courses that were $100 or less.
  6. Only Joe Thomas and Jason Peters will make more than $10 mil next year at LT. Gross is 3rd at 8.7 mil and Ferguson is 4th with 7.25 mil. This is base salary though. I'm gonna have to pass on him now if that's what it takes. I wonder what a guy like Beatty will ask for.
  7. I believe so, he grew up very close to it. I think. It was basically his home course when he was a kid. If he wins this one, that's 8 wins at Torrey Pines ALONE. Most golfers would be ecstatic to have that many wins for their CAREER! I believe he has 7 wins on 2 other courses as well: Firestone and can't remember the 3rd one. 21 wins on just 3 courses is good for 29th all time on the wins list or more than Els/Irwin/Love III/Norman in their career.
  8. While the last part may or may not be accurate (never proven, for sure), I don't think Ray Lewis has ever been convicted of a felony. Correct and didn't he testify against his boys in order to be not charged with murder? It's been forever since I thought about that trial so my mind is a little hazy.
  9. http://www.golftoday.co.uk/news/yeartodate/news01/pensions.html Yeah... I'm not feeling sorry. That % is just insane though. That article is old too as it doesn't talk about the FedEx Cup which also goes into their retirement plans as well. Best retirement plan out of any pro sports by a mile.
  10. There's a WR from Mount Union that I like. Jasper Collins. I believe he's a 5th-6th round pick. He also can return kicks/punts.
  11. Have you seen him this year? I think he went into his decline phase this year. He doesn't look like he used to and dropped a lot of easy passes this year IMO. It would be an overpay to get him even if he was still awesome. Plus Bears don't have a big cap space and have a bunch of other needs to fill. I would rather sign Brian Hartline or even a Donnie Avery type.
  12. As what? co-OC and QB coach? what other offensive coach could Bears fill in?
  13. Of course that's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is these more "conventional" candidates have a track record of NFL success to look at and decide which best fits the Bears personnel and Emery's philosophy. With Trestman it seems more like a hunch. So Trestman doesn't have a track record of NFL success?
  14. Only team you really got to worry is Indy. Cincy got like 20 FAs and they want to resign most of them back. Some of them will get a big raise like Atkins (extending him to a new contract), Andre Smith, and Michael Johnson. They will have a bunch of cap space to still sign a legit LT, but that could be lower on their priorities at the moment.
  15. Oh I would too, but the question will be how much $$$ will it take to get Long/Albert/Clady (if all three make it to FA) and will Bears have enough cap space to do it? I get the feeling that Chiefs don't want to franchise or sign Albert as he will command too much $$ for their taste. It's the same way with Long for Dolphins. Clady probably will be franchised??, but Clady and Manning would be a HUGE chunk of their cap space and probably means Koppen is a FA. Bears pretty much got to restructure/extend Peppers and Tillman for sure to free up some more cap space. They also have to resign Melton as well.
  16. I was wondering if he'd be a massive overreach for the Bears in the first? Definitely. If you want an OL with the Bears' first pick, you have to trade up or down. After the shoving match with McCarron, you know the meatballs would love him in Chicago. Olin's rightful heir at center. I agree that it would be an overreach at 20th pick. My ideal situation would be Chiefs went with Luke Joeckel with the first pick and they want to move up to 20th (to draft whichever QB they like best). Bears would get their 2nd and 3rd round pick plus possibly a future 3rd? as Chiefs will be somewhat desperate to get a QB to pair with Joeckel in this situation. Then probably either Cooper or Jones (whoever they like more although I could see a project LT like Oday Aboushi rising up the board) with the early 2nd pick unless Eifert somehow falls out of the 1st. Not sure who I go with the later 2nd and 3rd round picks yet. Won't really know until after the Combine next month.
  17. This is what they were talking about. Link
  18. I'm glad you aren't involved. Yeah I don't get it. When was the last time Cowher coached? Heck it's mainly why I wouldn't want Gruden as well since he hasn't been coaching since 2008.
  19. Somebody tweeted last week that they had been informing candidates they were already down to 2, but I assume this is all just rumor and assumptions and Emery's is being straightforward about looking everywhere. Anybody know who the 2 candidates Emery likes?
  20. Better than DeCastro or Iupati?? Or go even a little farther back with Mankins or Hutchinson?
  21. They had the highest weighted DVOA this year and ranked 4th in both offense and defense and 3rd on ST. Dvoa is for people who think they are smarter than they are, and Seattle needed extreme ref help to even qualify Even if they lost to Packers, they still get in the playoffs right? Since they had the tiebreaker over the Bears...
  22. Must be the year of bullsh*t calls by the refs in every sport.
  23. Haha, fight worthy? It was less physical than when Paul obliterated Lawson that led to the free throws. Yeah that too was ridiculous. Both play was ridiculous. It was a foul on Byrd IMO.
  24. Arkansas should've been a lot better than they were, but John L Smith sucks. Were they like a 9-3 or 10-2 team? No, because their defense is bad. They should've at least went to a bowl game though.
