  1. http://www.csnchicago.com/pages/video?PID=6cLLTB-vDUH8V_RF7Z6WilCpUBjBoPlnySTyN1U Holly looks a little flustered. And he said passion at least 80 times. He should look flustered. My GUESS is that he realizes his comments were stupid. At least I hope that's the case. I'm not exactly a fan of his media work, but I also never thought of him as one of those Chicago media d-bags before either.
  2. So one of his teammates yells at him, and then he gets all butthurt and quits? Really? Not sure why that would be a surprise. It's Z we're talking about
  3. True, but this year's draft/signings is a helluva lot more fun than the on-the-field product of the big club
  4. Quade reminds me of a VP in my company: says some cool things before the bullets start flying, but when push comes to shove, his actions don't back up the talk. Both guys need to be put out to pasture.
  5. But, but why pay all that money for a single player (Pujols or Fielder) when that same money can get you 15 to 20 John Grabows & Koyie Hills? Seriously, the idea of outright rejecting a big ticket contract is ludicrous. At least those are moves w/ real impact. Unless one views the middling-money contracts that Hendry has pissed away over the years as an acceptable way to waste money, that is.
  6. Signing Maples would put a nice, fat bow on a really good draft/signing period. :crossesfingers: this rumor is true
  7. Not at all shocked it if plays out that Hendry is back next year. Disappointed, yes, but not shocked.
  8. I've had that feeling for a while. Not happy about it, but I'm expecting Hendry back in '12.
  9. ^^ Dang, if Maples signs (& assuming Baez is done too), that's a pretty damn good haul out of one draft. Even if Maples doesn't sign, still pretty damn good.
  10. I dunno, "I'm having a tough year, but despite this, I am glad I can still contribute in some ways." AKA something a professional athlete is going to say maybe .00001% of the time. He just needs to watch Bull Durham. Crash Davis gives sage advice on how to deal w/ the media; simply give canned, vanilla responses.
  11. ^^ Yeah, he's had a huge budget which has resulted in a mediocre franchise, top to bottom, over the course of his tenure. If you're into mediocrity, and are satisfied w/ relying on the crappiness of the division, cool. I guess sticking w/ Hendry is defensible. I'd rather take a shot w/ someone else.
  12. I'm kinda worried about Quade/Hendry being "saved" by a winning streak as well. I'm waiting for "it WAS injuries after all" articles. BUT, given the misery of this season, I'm not gonna prevent that from letting me enjoy this streak.
  13. Yeah, Sammy... I recall one un-effing-believable June when he hit something like 21 dingers. Crazy... ETA: fuzzy on the month & total, too damn lazy to look it up
  14. Damn Mr. Camp is small. Just saw a shot of him next to Castro, & unless it was an optical illusion, Starlin looked huge in comparison.
  15. Just because he's hispanic? Geez man, that's racist. The racism must end
  16. Wow, a win after some blown offensive chances & a HBP for the Reds' lead-off hitter. Things going the Cubs way. Hopefully this doesn't turn into something that saves people's jobs
  17. Campana should retire while the gettin' is good. Nice day for him
  18. Sorry his last name confused me. Let's make him Tony Camp to avoid such confusion in the future. Wait Tony sounds Italian...are we ok with Italians? Uhh, don't wanna anger the resident paisans, so I say yes
  19. Ok, you can't be real. What's Castro looking at? If the ball was hit to the wall in CF he could cartwheel home, he was probably wondering why that lazy Tony Campana wasn't getting to 3rd. Campana is white, thus he can't be lazy
  20. ^^That was funny...but the post that made me scratch my head was the guy who strongly implied walks = fewer runs being scored.
  21. Obviously bunting. Not nearly enough of that from Killebrew
  22. What the hell is interesting about him? Personally, I'm interested in discovering the limits of his douchiness
  23. Hmmm... Déjà vu, it seems this has been tried already
