  1. BTW, Baez apparently stole a base after this. He just continues doing whatever the **** he wants
  2. yes and it was as silly when you said it the first time as it is now. Why is it silly? Makes plenty of sense to me. Your not the only person to wonder whats to keep it from coming to that davell. so basically teams in every salary cap league in the world engage in rampant cheating. Does that have to be proven to talk about the possibility it could happen under the new CBA in baseball?
  3. I don't have ESPN Insider, but just spoke w/ a guy who does... He says Keith Law would have Almora as our #1 prospect, even over Rizzo.
  4. Campana is what he is--a bench guy to spot start & use as a late inning pinch runner. Cubs have much bigger issues than what to do w/ Tony Campana.
  5. :-k Hard for me to believe Tomscha would sign for so little $$ (given where he was drafted; maybe I'm misunderstanding the slot rules post-10th Rd)... Committed to Auburn, & has been drafted twice previously. I'm probably not thinking about correctly. Been reading way too much draft stuff.
  6. What's crazy years and money? I could see 5/35, Cespedes got 4/36 (granted Cespedes was more polished/seasonsed/had a better pedigree at the time of signing). I could maybe see as high as 6-7 for 40 being possible. Is he currently 18 or 19? "Crazy" was probably the wrong way for me to put it. Hell, it's not my $$, so I don't really care, especially since the new CBA limits spending... The bidding on Soler isn't affected by the new CBA, still falls under the old one. So teams can offer whatever without being penalized. I wasn't questioning the use of the word crazy you used, just wanted to know what those crazy years/money figures actually are you have seen other places. I haven't seen or been looking for what people are saying he might get. Yeah, I don't even know why I mentioned the CBA. I know there's no cap as long as he's signed by July 2 (right??). Trying to find it again, but I know I saw on some blog, someone arguing Hoystein just "get it over with" & offer 8/64....

  8. I've seen some crazy years/$$ being thrown around on various boards/blogs. Anyone think it'll be more than something like 5/35??
  9. Haven't watched the big club in several days. Just wondering if Sori's knee is still clearly bothering him?
  10. Nice job Demp, way to keep your trade value high!!
  11. i don't know... but sports radio was far more unlistenable than usual today. it sucked. seemed everytime i'd turn it back on, they were talking about it and/or how sveum was a coward or something for not benching him. Maybe Dale will decide that from now on he'll take it up w/ the offending player in the clubhouse instead of venting in front of the media. I'm not excusing Starlin's brain fart(s), but providing sound bytes only adds fuel to the fire, IMO.
  12. Having Starlin sit a game wouldn't be the worst thing. I read somewhere (hell, maybe upthread) that he's one of only like 6 players to have played in every inning this year.
  13. ^^^ I no longer believe "Theo" is the real Theo Epstein....
  14. Come on Hoystein, sign Big Foot, err, I mean Soler.
  15. You suckers still think Soler is a real person? :-o
  16. Cashner should be happy he got dealt to SD. Home games at Petco should be a dream for any pitcher.
  17. I could've done w/out seeing that old Callis chat. Damn, it's not 11:00 yet; too early for a cocktail to dull the pain.
  18. Yes. When Garrioch made the comp I was all "wtf man" and then I watched some of the Youtube stuff with that in mind and boom it's right there. The guy is like some kind of composite OF, thankfully constructed mostly of CFs past and present. Not worried about the leg kick...He strikes me as the kind of player who will make adjustments. Albert Almora - Smokescreen? I'm wondering if Giolito is in fact the actual target....
  19. Damn, I wish Dylan Bundy was available for the '13 draft. Think the Cubs would have a serious shot at drafting him.
  20. I guess Rizzo also... I'm back to believing Soler isn't real.
  21. I think that could be it, he just isn't able to get enough break/bite/speed on his pitches out of the break and they aren't as effective as they are out of the windup so it could be something mechanically. Also maybe have to look at maybe he's tipping pitches out of the stretch? I think it has to be that....makes the most sense anyway.
