I'd give the Nats anything but Rizzo/Russell/Soler if we could get Harper. I am a big believer in Soler especially, so really don't want to see him moved if Theo can help it.

Cubs are a real major league franchise again. I would've bet $$$ Tuesday afternoon that Lester was headed to Giants. I hope we get a few good years out of him.

For #### sake...please make the decision tonight. I have the feeling we don't want him sleeping on this. Unless he has a restless sleep of nightmares filled w/ Lucchino cackling after the trade to Oakland.

I've got zero problems w/ shipping prospects, and it's not like I had Mejia in my personal top 15 or anything. I am just that underwhelmed by Montero. For David Price or Cole Hamels? Sure, ship off anything that isn't Russell/Bryant/Soler. I'd be fine with that.

I just don't have the boner for Montero that others do. True, Mejia is very far way, but if the entire contract comes w/ Montero, guess I just didn't expect to see a real prospect get shipped.

Well, my gut was waaaaay off, apparently. Guess Lester isn't the vindictive sort as I had hoped. He is not holding a grudge against BoSox.

What's everyone's gut feeling right now? I feel like BoSox are out, and that the Giants are Lester's landing spot.

So if not, we just do nothing? Typical. How miserable are you? Yes I'm sure it will either be "get everyone" or "get no one". Don't they know they have to keep up with a team in the AL Central? Have to admit, I was having the same negative thought. Also considered the possibility they already know they're not getting Lester & would use not getting him as a reason for not pursuing any other impact payroll. :shrug: Battered Cubs fan syndrome

[expletive] up shoulder? He had inflammation a while back. Dude's out pitch is a changeup. He's still a pitcher, at the other side of, or near the end of, his prime. And I don't think it's realistic to think he'd be anything more than a 4 WAR value, at market rates, as others have said. And I was stating a pitcher's floor in general, not just for Hamels. Like I said, I'm not opposed to trading Castro at all. Just not for Hamels.

:shrug: I'm not especially tied to Starlin in any way, but I'd just prefer the FO got more than a 30+ yo pitcher w/ a 4 WAR ceiling, with a pitcher's floor of "####ed up shoulder, out of baseball." I highly doubt the Phillies would kick back enough money to make the relative values work out. Go hard after Lester & Shields, except actually land at least one of them. If those guys can't be brought in, then consider trades. JMO.
