  1. I agree. I think Murton should be batting behind Barrett in the order. I'm okay with Murton at 6. I could see putting Jones 6th and Murton 7th so we have a R L R with Barrett, Jones, and Murton.
  2. hehe you got the gist of my jest :D who'da thunk maddux would be 4-0 at this point with big Z 0-1? what bizzaro world are we in anyway? As long as Prior and Wood are injured I wouldn't say we're in a bizarro world. But I do see your point. I didn't expect Maddux and Z start off the way they did.
  3. Haha. Nothing like a good juicing joke.
  4. I'm looking forward to seeing what Guzman can do at the Major League level.
  5. That is a hilarious picture.
  6. This is Texas though. Virtually anybody could pitch for that team.
  7. So true. I can tell you, I will feel alot better when I see woody back, and if he has a good game. It will give ME a morale booster. I hope he comes back healthy but it's not even a "i need to see it to believe it" sort of thing. Even if he's pitching well I'm still going to think it's too good to be true and he's just going to get hurt again.
  8. dusty would, but it would be a result of hendry resigning macias to catch  Technically, they don't need Macias. Mabry is the emergency third catcher. Where did you get that information from?
  9. Going into today's game, he was 21st of 24 in OBP(Duffy, Reyes and Pods were worse), and 20th in OPS(Duffy, Pods, Furcal, and Brady Clark were worse). Well, I guess it's good we didn't waste $10 mil a year on him. I can only imagine how much people on this board would be complaining if Furcalcoholic was doing that on the Cubs.
  10. I don't think it was a big deal at all. I do think it was stupid to do it to Maddux because, as other people said, Maddux isn't going to be rattled by it. Now if you did it to Z, he might go crazy. I guarantee that if Edmonds had done it to Z that Z would have plunked him on the next pitch.
  11. Did anyone see this coming? <-raises hand
  12. Dude, come on. The least you can do is spell our MVP candidate's name right. Derrick, please. That's not even close. As for this team, I would hardly call it great, I think with Lee in the lineup we have a decent team THIS YEAR, but that's only because the NL isn't very good as whole this year. I don' care what anybody else thinks or what Bob's personal statistical opinion on the matter is. This team isn't going to make the playoffs this year without DLee playing for a couple months. Honestly, I hope somebody remembers this and, if we make the playoffs, ridicules me relentlessly for it. But I don't see Cubs 2006 and making the playoofs in the same sentence.
  13. With those two on the mound for the game, the groundskeepers will have to raise the mound a few inches after the game. There are also rumors of earthquakes in the St. Louis area tomorrow beginning around 1:15 Central Time.
  14. I think that definately helped derail his career. All a pitcher had to do was throw a curve on the outside part of the place and Sosa couldn't touch it. Definitely. Other than the possible roids, the biggest catalyst in his offensive explosion was that he learned to work the outer half and hit the opposite way. After the beaning, he was scared to death of the plate, and started flailing at outside pitches instead of stepping into and driving them. It was a sad sight to see. Everybody knew he was doing it and he wouldn't change.
  15. Do the -3 runs come from Pujols hitting 3 homers and running the wrong way around the bases? No, there's a bench clearing brawl in which Zambrano single handedly beats up Pujols, Edmonds and Rolen at the same time. The Cardinals are penalized for 3 runs by the umps out of disgrace for their manhood. A bad pun: Lee single handedly beats up Pujols, Edmonds and Rolen at the same time.
  16. Well, I'm sure the players involved accidentally drank some beer and accidentally took out some bats and accidentally went Office Space on the boombox. Definately an accident.
  17. I think that definately helped derail his career. All a pitcher had to do was throw a curve on the outside part of the place and Sosa couldn't touch it.
  18. All this margarita talk is making me thirsty. To bad I have to go to work in a few minutes. But I am bartending tonight.
  19. Yes. The point is, we weren't good enough to win even with Lee. Now we are a bad ballclub. Looks like it will be Mabry/Walker/Restovich @ 1B, in whatever combo Dusty likes. Wow. Don't panic? My goodness. I was panicking before Spring Training began, and with good reason----we lost all our pitchers before we even started preparing for the season! Panic doesn't describe the appropriate response to Lee's injury. More like resignment to fate. We weren't good enough to win even WITH Lee? Man oh man the negativity on this board sometimes. Last time I checked we had a 9-5 record with Lee and above the Cardinals. We were winning series and on a good pace to seriously contend. Now without Lee, everyone else needs to step it up. And I think they will. Seriously, why not just give up this year. Aren't we suffering enough after the loss of Lee? To have to come to this board to such negativity. We were a game or two up on the Astros in 2004 with a week to play and blew that without suffering any injuries. Why should we be positive when our MVP candidate is going to miss 2 months? I'm not throwing in the towel, but to have World Series aspirations is ludicris.
  20. I would say that we don't know if Prior and Wood are going to be back at full strength. During Spring Training, the initial reports said nothing was wrong with Prior, then he would only miss a few days, then he would miss a couple starts, then he's out til the middle of May. Frankly I don't know what to think of our pitchers and when they are actually going to return. I wouldn't be surprised at all to have Wood come back only to go back on the DL within a month. To rely on him is one of the worst things you can do. Prior is another thing. As somebody else pointed out, Prior has had some freak injuries. But hints and target dates aren't sure things.
  21. That's was just stupidity and Farnsworth's IQ of 12 showing itself.
  22. I'm not so sure about it being mysterious.
  23. Divide by zero, YOU GO TO HELL!! Sorry, engineering joke.
  24. Well, until the next ROOKIE who registers takes your place, why, yes, yes you are a beer fetcher. We reserve the right to haze our newbies. It's a longstanding ritual here. The good news is you'll be able to tell the next ROOKIE to get YOU a beer. :D It has nothing to do with the fact that you are a girl. Like Bigbad said, you're the rook.
