I'm not sure what's strange; he was ineffective and as a result, sent down. It's not like he's a guy with a long track record to fall back on. Perhaps if the Cubs rotation was solid they could afford for him to find himself on the 25 man roster but, as it stands, they can ill afford to keep him around. Wuertz had one bad outing, that doesn't make him ineffective. People are getting hung up over his meaningless spring numbers and forgetting that he was an effective reliever with peripherals pointing towards him being even better this year. I agree. You have to give him the opportunity to prove himself at the ML level for a little while. Like TT said, Wuertz had one bad outing, one decent outing and a good outing. Give the guy more than three appearances to show what he can do. Like TT said, you can't cite spring training as a excuse. Some guys have horrible springs and do well during the year and other guys have great springs and then stink it up once the regular season starts. That being said, Dusty and the Cubs better give Aardsma a chance as long as he's up with the team. I would like to see Wuertz pitch well in AAA and get another shot later in the season.
