  1. zero. he's no arroyo at the plate. Arroyo wasn't anything special at the plate either in his first couple seasons in Pittsburgh. In 2001 he had 16 strikeouts in 21 AB's and for his career he is batting .102 with 34 strikeouts in 59 AB's.
  2. What are the odds that Snell hits a home run today?
  3. I only feel bad for Patterson for the injury he suffered in 2003. Not just because how he could have helped the Cubs, but for his career in general. He was never the same. Other than that, I don't feel the least bit sorry for him. I just think that he was on his way to being a decent player in the league, and maybe someday he will be, but that injury affected him deeply. Who knows. Either way, he sucked in 2004 and 2005 and I didn't want him on the team anymore. But like I said, he was having an excellent year in 2003 before he got injured and that's why I feel bad for him. If he learns to take walks he will be a MUCH better player.
  4. mmm...4/21...the day after 4/20...mmm...
  5. I really don't want us to go after Zito. Ever since he won the Cy in 2002 he has been crap. I don't think we need to trade some of our good prospect for him. The way Zito is going, there is a good shot Marshall will be as good as Zito will be for the rest of his career. I know Zito has the potential for some good starts, but come on, Zito hasn't done anything an average pitcher couldn't do over the past 3 years. He has had 3 mediocre seasons. If we get an excellent deal for him, then yes, by all means trade for him. As for giving up quality prospects, which is what Billy Beane will want, definately don't do it.
  6. Wow, that 19 K's in 48 AB's stat REALLY stands out. Wilkerson needs to turn that around ASAP literally. Ibanez is a possibility but I think getting either Ichiro or Abreu would take more effort. Not sure about Kearns or Mench though. I would like Ichiro - a Ichiro, Pierre top of the order would be good. Although I think we need a bit more power from our No. 2 spot...which is why I still like Walker there. We'll see as the season progresses. While I think Pierre will turn out better than Jones, let's see how they do in the upcoming weeks. Two weeks is too short a time period to judge.
  7. I really want to see what Pie can do at the major league level. If we don't bring him up, who would play RF until Jones returns? Hairston?
  8. agreed. The kid needs all of the AB's he can get and if he's not going to get AB's up here, it would be extremely pointless for him to be on the big league club. Jones definitely wasn't limping as bad as Pagan when he came off the field. I really don't think Jones injury was that serious, but who knows. Might as well see what the kid can do for us if Jones is going to be out for a little while longer. But I agree that we shouldn't bring him up to sit on the bench. He needs to be playing and if that means he stays in AAA for now then so be it.
  9. Let's just hope than Gopher Ball Glendon doesn't give the game away early and at least gives us a chance to win the game tomorrow.
  10. It is early and I don't think anybody has been pleased with Pierre's play so far. But let's give him the chance to turn it around.
  11. Wow, Fred McGriff. That brings back some memories. Good ol Crime Dog.
  12. Especially with Gopher Ball Glendon on the mound.
  13. So much for winning the series in Pittsburgh. Let's hope the offense shows up so we don't get blown out since we know Gopher Ball Glendon is going to give up a bunch of runs.
  14. I think right now you are overreacting. We haven't played two weeks of games yet. If he is still hitting .214 at the end of April, then we should be concerned. Let's give him a little more time to turn it around.
  15. Agreed. I think Murton can develop enough power to be a good No. 5 hitter. He's already shown flashes of it. Let's hope he keeps it up.
  16. Ehh, im not sure about that. The only way he'll be an allstar is if he has a really hot start or if Vance decides it so. Hopefully both will happen.
  17. To bring Novoa up obviously. Honestly, I really don't know.
  18. Pagan is young also so what's the difference? Its to break up all the righties. Pagan can switch hit so later in the game it breaks up a all righty order vs the bullpen. That's makes sense.
  19. Duke already has a pitch count in the upper 20's. That's nice. Well, not for him.
  20. Pagan is young also so what's the difference? if I start to think like dusty, shoot me. Done.
  21. Why couldn't they have optioned Rusch down to AAA? I know salary reasons, but still, it's a nice thought.
  22. Pagan is young also so what's the difference?
  23. Barrett has started out well and he's batting fifth. Why wouldn't you put Murton sixth?
