  1. It can't be any worse than Carrie Muskat's Q & A. At least Sullivan didnt refer to Jacque Jones as our new RH hitting RF... Muskat actually said that? Wow.
  2. What happens with the player's salary when he gets DFA? Does the team still have to pay him for the year. Also, if another team picks the player up, who pays the salary. Let's just say the Cubs decided to DFA Neifi Perez and the Royals pick him up. What happens to the remainder of his contract?
  3. Just registered my team for the fantasy league. I just have one question: we can switch the lineup daily depending on which teams are playing on a certain day correct?
  4. Also, for those of you that read Moneyball, Jeremy Brown is now on the Sacramento RiverCats. Here's his line: 92 AB, .304/.383/.543, 6 HR, 15 RBI, 13 BB, 21 K
  5. ? Hill had 70 pitches through 3 innings and 87 through 5 innings. right. and that's bad how...? you sound so disappointed that hill was getting guys out early in the count for an inning or two. My point was that when the River Cats were working the count they got to Rich Hill, hence the 70 pitches in the first 3 innings and 4 runs. When they swung at pitches early in the count, they didn't do anything, 17 pitches combined in innings 4 and 5 and 0 innings. Then in the sixth he threw 23 pitches in 2/3 of an inning and gave up 2 runs. Working the count led to scoring runs. I'm saying that Rich Hill was lucky to have lasted 5 2/3 innings and the Rivercats should have touched him up for more than the six runs.
  6. I think this is a product of the era he played in. Regardless of whether or not you think Sheffield took steroids, the fact remains that this is an offensive era and stats that would guarantee a person to be a first ballot HOFer don't mean as much anymore. I think Sheffield will get in, I just don't think he'll be a first ballot HOFer. When players from this era start becoming eligible for the Hall, it will be interesting to see how the votes go.
  7. The Cubs starter for Sunday is still listed as TBA on Cubs.com. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/probable_pitchers.jsp?c_id=chc
  8. Zito is not worth the money he's going to command in the offseason. I would stay away from him at all costs. Well cubs are going to need to sign a FA pitcher this off-season. Who would you want instead? ANother guy I would like the cubs to look at is Kelvim Escabor, but that being said Zito is the best pitcher on the market and he is a former CY young winner so your probably right in the fact he will command alot of $$$$$$$$ And that's the point. I'm going to change my statement from above. If we can get him at a decent price, i.e. under $10 mil a year, then go for it. But he's going to flash that Cy Young award around all winter and will get at least $10 mil. If the Yankees get interested he'll get $12-13.
  9. Zito is not worth the money he's going to command in the offseason. I would stay away from him at all costs. well if we trade Wood, we wouldn't have to pick up his outrageous $13.5 million option. We could use most of that money for Zito. Zito hasn't put together a full good year since his Cy Young in 2002. He hasn't gotten injured, which I guess makes him better than Wood and Prior, but he's alreayd making $7.9 mil this year. He is not worth the $10+ mil per year he's going to get next year.
  10. Zito is not worth the money he's going to command in the offseason. I would stay away from him at all costs.
  11. In before the inevitable lock. EDIT: I wrote this in the other Rock Bottom thread in the Minor League section before the two threads were merged.
  12. I'm going to see if a beer will calm my nerves. I'll have to wait until after I get off work tonight to do that.
  13. Not yet. None of those other guys had a consecutive saves streak or a scoreless innings streak like Dempster.
  14. Does it even matter?
  15. Then we'll get to see how badly our coaching staff can screw up another promising prospect.
  16. continue to play Neifi and Bynum. Please continue to use Gopher Ball Glendon as the spot starter. All you are doing is sealing your own fate.
  17. 1 sacrifice fly = 2 runs for the opponent. Just when you thought the Cubs couldn't find another way to lose, this happens.
  18. And how many walks did we take today? This is priceless. Really it is. I think somebody said 1 but it was intentional.
