  1. Yeah that was incredible A friend of mine texted me "oh shit Trea Turner" and I just assumed he blew out his ACL or suffered some other season ending injury. I was pleasantly surprised that what actually happened was the complete opposite of what I expected.
  2. [tweet] [/tweet] How on earth is this a penalty? I mean, after the game one of the guys on NBC said the call wasn't a clear and obvious error by the ref because the Spurs player "glanced the shin" of the Southampton player. So we're giving penalties for a graze on the shin now? Are we going to start calling 15 penalties a game then? If originally the ref had ruled that there was no foul on the play, there's not a chance in hell that VAR would have done anything. Get rid of the stupid fucking "clear and obvious error" bullshit when determining whether or not it should be overturned. Just look at it and determine if it was a penalty regardless of what the original call was. That would have been a ridiculous foul to call if it was at midfield. I still think on the whole VAR is good but it needs some changes because we can't be giving out penalties for stuff like this.
  3. Drake's offense the last four minutes has been either -fail to break the press and turn the ball over -get the ball up the court, dribble around and then chuck a 3 with 5 seconds left on the shot clock. Their last possession they didn't even take a shot.
  4. LOL Purdue.
  5. Meanwhile Kentucky and Providence have combined for 15 total points in 12 second half minutes so far.
  6. Purdue 4-24 from 3 right now and they're passing up open looks.
  7. Pretty lopsided UCL draw. Real-Chelsea winner plays City-Bayern winner. Other half is Napoli-Milan and Benfica-Inter.
  8. Arizona had 4 points in the last 8 minutes of the game and 6 points in the last 11 minutes. Related note my bracket is done.
  9. ACL or Achilles were my two thoughts. Not many other leg injuries that could happen like that are going to force a player to be carried off the field.
  10. I should have known that. I must have confused it with the Europa League and Conference League.
  11. First place teams get a first KO round bye? This format is going to result in a lot of sitting stars (see NBA). It's stupid to play that many games for that few eliminations. Hell, at least make the third-place teams play-in instead of deciding on weird tie-breakers. This is just classic FIFA, crank out more games. 32 teams advancing is asinine. I dislike the new format also but I don’t think there will be any more sitting than there currently is. Teams already prioritize finishing first which won’t change. I would think there’s even less incentive to rest guys in the final group game because you can still get a bye. Whereas now a team might have clinched a knockout round spot but they might not care if they finish 1st or 2nd depending on the matchup they get. With the bye no team is going to want that extra game. I guess there could be a situation where a team has clinched a knockout spot but can only finish 2nd or 3rd in their group and they don’t care which spot they get.that seems pretty unlikely though since not every 3rd place team would advance.
  12. All 5 teams in Group A finished 2-2 so the tiebreaker was runs allowed per out recorded.
  13. What if you could play a round of golf in 2.5 hours consistently? Would that be too far? I don't think that is a fair comparison. For the players, it's great, but at some point it likely becomes a negative for the fans if games are consistently clocking in shorter than any other major sport. And this isn't really our concern, but what does it do to advertising revenue when there is 30-45 minutes less of live game content each night? I guess we'll see how it plays out over time. I still like it for the most part, but I have some concerns with how significantly the games are being shortened. They’re not shortening the time in between innings are they? If not then the commercials wouldn’t change.
  14. That ump should be immediately be fired. That’s not just incompetence. Thats just pure spite at what doesn’t even seem to be that bad of an overreaction.
  15. This is why Conte sucks. Sure, you can’t just invent a win. But you sure as shit can actually try to win a game that you have to win. You don’t have to set up in a 3-5-2 (or 3-4-3) with two of those midfielders being wingbacks. Throw an extra attacker on there and go with a 4-2-3-1. I’d much rather have my team go for the win and get bounced losing something like 3-2 or drawing 2-2 because they gave up a couple goals on the counter instead of the limp dick display Spurs put out yesterday. And the subbing on a defender for an attacker at the end was hilariously pathetic. It’s like he thought there was a third leg in the tie and was trying to keep it close.
  16. Now that the season is effectively over hopefully Spurs send Conte back to Italy on the AC Milan team plane. In a game where they needed at least one goal, Spurs had 0.09 xG in the first half. They ended up with 0.98 xG total over the two legs.
  17. Is he worth 5/$250 million and two 1st Round picks? Seems to be injury prone the last few years. And with the running he does, I only seem him getting injured more often. Derek Carr got $100M guaranteed and Daniel Jones just got $82M guaranteed. As Tom said, Lamar is a former MVP. He threw 36 TD passes in a season that year while Daniel Jones threw 36 TD passes the last 3 years combined. Even the last two years he threw 16 and 17 TDs, each of which would be the second best Jones has ever done. Could Lamar be injury prone and never live up to the contract? Sure. But sometimes you need to take the risk. He's 26 and his ceiling is a top-5 QB. These guys don't become available every year so you need to do what you can do to get one. I'd much rather my team take a big chance on Lamar than spinning the QB roulette wheel in the draft every couple years and drafting Zach Wilson, Sam Darnold and Christian Hackenberg (2nd rounder).
  18. So with the new pickoff rules, say a pitcher throws over twice. Then he throws over a third time and the runner takes off for second. He gets into a run down but makes it back to first. Does he still get 2nd base because the pitcher disengaged with the rubber a third time without recording an out?
  19. Still a chance according to this Link "At 14-19 and without a conference title to their credit, the Titans are ineligible for the NIT and NCAA Tournament. However, Davis could still break Maravich's record if Detroit is invited to a postseason event such as the CBI or The Basketball Classic, which allows teams with records below .500 to compete." Maravich set his record in 83 games over 3 seasons. Davis has played 143 games over 5 seasons. The idea of the record being broken because a bad team got invited to some 3rd rate tournament just for the sake of allowing the record to be broken would seem very unsatisfying to all involved. But regardless, great career by Davis the son of legendary IU coach Mike Davis. :hello: Agreed. If they were a top 3 seed in their conference it would be different. But they were 8th in the Horizon League. Sucks he came so close to the record without getting it but that's life.
  20. That just means our medical staff hasn’t done anything yet. Once they get involved it will be moderate to severe in no time!
  21. Really? I always thought that was Meph. Again, that's the joke. Lol. Oops. Missed that part while skimming though. Who was involved in the GoT spoilers then. Related to spoilers but I seem to remember someone spoiling when Rita died in Dexter in a Game Thread because someone used to have the name Dexter Morgan (17 Seconds maybe?).
  22. Really? I always thought that was Meph.
  23. Wait really? I'm shook. Must be confused cuz of the cheese sauce and posts about drinking a gallon of apple juice to cut down his sugar intake. yeah the gravy is 100% for sure not da bum. it was some rando Didn’t Bum have something to do with chili and wasn’t that related to Windermere?
  24. Well it only took 60 years but Wilt no longer has at least half of the 70+ point games in NBA history.
  25. I’m guessing he got the yellow because he got the shoulder first so the intent wasn’t to slap him in the face. But it’s definitely surprising they overturned it. I don’t think that was a clear and obvious error to give him a red.
