  1. When the Mariners tied for first place the other day it was the first time they'd been in first place post ASB since 2003.
  2. With that Milwaukee series there’s a decent chance that series either: A. Only matters in terms of the division/WC placement and both teams are in the playoffs, in the scenario where both teams continue to play well B. Only matters to one team (probably the Cubs since we’re 4 back and would need an 8 game turnaround) since the other would have the division locked up and whoever wins the division isn’t catching LA or Atl. So that last week isn’t nearly as daunting as it seems.
  3. Yeah, that definitely matters. I doubt the Braves will rest everyone but they probably won't throw their full lineup all three games, extend their starting pitchers to 100 pitches or throw their best pen guys each night.
  4. WTF is this wizardry? Like how do you even think to make that pass?
  5. Yeah, we're starting to see a bit of a gap open. It's not much but it's there. Giants are 4-10 in their tough stretch, which wouldn't be the end of the world except they lost 4 of 5 to the Angels and A's right before it. Plus they play the Reds next week. Miami's now lost 8 of 10 and are at .500. If the Reds lose tonight they'll be 2 back.
  6. Regarding the Seiya play, if he lets it go and it bounces out of play, is it automatic the runner that was on first stays at 3rd or can they allow him to score if they think it’s clear he would? I can’t remember how the rule is. And if so, is that why they ruled he could score or did they change their call?
  7. I’ve seen enough of Wesneski for the day.
  8. I think the overturn pushed it from a 4 to a 5.
  9. How do you overturn that? No way that’s clear evidence.
  10. And the Brewers win in part because Michael Taylor couldn’t field a grounder in CF which allowed the runner to get to second with no out. Solid work.
  11. The Brewers just got swept by LA less than a week ago. They beat one first place team 3 times and while it’s true that Minnesota is a first place team, it’s also accurate to refer to them as barely over .500.
  12. The Mariners are 21-5 over the last month and are only 1 game back of Texas in the division. At least one of Sea, Hou and Tex, and maybe two of them, won’t be guaranteed a home playoff game.
  13. That square came to me right away because Giolito got traded a month ago.
  14. I had the same thought. No need to walk Ketel Marte there. If you pitch to him and he homers, well, it's still a tie game.
  15. And Arizona walks it off anyway. Stupid Rangers.
  16. Rangers trying to blow it again. They're lucky the ball stayed close on the previous pitch because it was close to being 2nd and 3rd. If it was, the game would be tied.
  17. He’s basically right on line with Gallo this year. 182/327/429 for Schwarber and 180/304/447 for Gallo, though Gallo does strike out much more frequently.
  18. That game was dumb. Better win the next two.
  19. Come on Nico with the TOOTBLANS. Just take the single.
