  1. They got their defensive tactics from the US against Portugal in 2014. hahaha - I remember that! I was like, if you're going to cover one player on the other team . . . That play made me so mad. Not just because we blew the game but we blew qualifying after 2 games and then had to hope that either Por-Gha ended in a draw or that Germany didn’t beat the crap out of us. And for a while there, we were a Ghana goal away from being out. Why we were pressing so high up rather than just keeping 5 or 6 guys behind the ball I still don’t know. Oh wait Klinsmann is a idiot. That’s why.

  3. That Argentina player should be off. No idea why he decided to launch the ball at the Dutch bench like that.
  4. see Italy 1982 I was thinking Portugal in Euro 2016. Drew all 3 group games, won 2 knockout games in extra time and a third in penalties. So they only won 1 of 7 games in 90 minutes.
  5. I don't know, but 11 years for a 30 year old SS seems...ill advised to me. I heard it suggested somewhere that the extra couple years are to get the AAV down. If a player wants $250M, he knows he's unlikely to get another deal at 38 or 40 regardless. So stretch it over 11 years instead of 8.
  6. Is there a reason Swanson is even being mentioned in the same breath as the other three SS other than they're all SS? Because he's been significantly worse than the other three over the course of his career. If he gets anywhere close to the money/years these other guys are getting, I don't want the Cubs anywhere near him.
  7. Dislike very much.
  8. 9 years $360M.
  9. I’m now seeing a report that he just struck out in the batting cage just now.

  11. Spain with some pretty awful penalties.
  12. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/dec/05/fox-sports-us-world-cup-coverage-tv-soccer This was an entertaining read. I can't speak for the accuracy of it as I haven't watched any coverage that wasn't the actual game though.
  13. This is an ass kicking.
  14. Makes it look even worse that he continued to shoehorn in a striker when we had more talented players on the bench. Reminded me of Spain did at times when they didn’t have a striker they liked. Rather than put one out there just for the sake of doing it, they’d just put an extra super talented midfielder out there instead. Obviously we’re not anywhere close to those Spain teams but the manager needs to figure out a way to get the best players on the field. so, you're saying Gio is the next Iniesta? Sure would be nice if he is!
  15. Memphis isn't really that good either, which only furthers the point. We don't have a Depay much less a good striker! 16. [tweet] [/tweet] Depay hasn't scored a UCL goal since the 19-20 season.
  17. 2nd place being whoever loses the conf champ or the highest ranked left in each? Whoever loses the championship game. No thanks. I already hate that a team like this year's Purdue can win one game at the right time and get a top-4 seed. We don't need to then let them, North Carolina and LSU (or the countless others over the years) just because they won their division. They're going to let the 5 conference winners plus the Group of 5 team. Just take the next 6 best teams.
  18. Record is 16. He’s got at least 1 more game this year and he’ll be in his prime for 2026. I would think he’d still be good enough to be a starter in 2030. Injuries plus the World Cup only being a few games obviously come into play but it’s hard to see him not breaking the record.
  19. Yeah, TCU losing in OT means it's easy to keep them at No. 3 assuming Georgia doesn't blow this lead. And even if the rest of this game and whatever Michigan does to Purdue is justification to move Michigan to 1, then they'll just drop TCU to 4.
  20. Yeah. We're close but we're not quite good enough. It's not like we advanced out of the group but were smoked by England and the Netherlands.
  21. Those 5 minutes when we had hope were nice.
  22. Dammit. Don't leave dudes open on the back post.
  23. We're going to get 1 or 2 good chances the last 10 minutes plus injury time. Just need to take it.
  24. There's 1 back!
