  1. If goal difference matters when they play Oranje in the last group game, we could be in for a treat 8-) Who's going to score? Janssen? Yeah, I might be biased because both flamed out for Spurs but I don’t like for the Dutch that their two forwards are Janssen and Bergwijn.
  2. Denver would be 9-1 if they just scored 18 points in regulation in every game.
  3. Same. 11 am (my time) can’t get here soon enough.
  4. Harry Kane could miss 2 penalties in regulation and another one in the shootout and the English fans would still find a way to blame Saka or Sterling for the team losing.
  5. In case you all were curious, the committee at the FCS level is trash.
  6. I liked how in the broadcast when they isolated the players to show the guy was offside, they isolated the defender and not the goalkeeper as if the GKer was irrelevant to the discussion. I guess he could still have been offside but they should have been showing the attacker relative to the GKer.
  7. The Super Bowl last year nearly swung on what could either have been a face mask or an offensive PI on the Higgins TD to start the second half. It would be tricky but I wouldn’t be opposed to the officials reviewing all scoring plays and turnovers to make sure no obvious penalties directly led to the score/TD, like the two examples above. So I’m not talking about a hold by the OL. It would be tough to implement but I think they could look into it. TD are more common than goals in soccer but not by much. This isn’t basketball.
  8. Last time Oklahoma lost 5 games in a season was 2014. They went 8-5. Last time Oklahoma lost 5 games in a regular season (before a bowl game) was 2009. They went 8-5. Last time Oklahoma lost 5 conference games was 1998, the year before Bob Stoops was hired.
  9. I just don’t see any realistic scenario where LSU gets in. If they beat Georgia we’d have two SEC teams with better resumes. I mean I guess if LSU beats Georgia by like 40 but that’s not going to happen. And a close win over Georgia doesn’t outweigh LSU having an extra loss to a decent ACC team and getting absolutely demolished by Tennessee. So if we’ve got two SEC teams in front, I don’t think the committee takes a third SEC team over a 1-loss Mich/OSU loser. And we have precedent for that in 2016 when Penn State won the Big 10 and beat OSU but had an extra loss and got demolished by Michigan so OSU went to the playoff.
  10. [tweet] [/tweet] EA Sports Fifa predicted the World Cup results. Problem is, the bracket they put out is incorrect because it keeps teams from the same group on the same side of the knockout bracket which means they could meet again in the semis when in the actual bracket, two teams from the same group can't meet until the final. On the positive side, sign me up for a QF appearance for the US.
  11. If you win half the available titles over a decently long time period, you’re a dynasty. Bama won 5 in 9 years or 6 in 12, however you want to split it up. They also lost 2 other title games in those 12 years. So I’d say Bama certainly is a dynasty.
  12. Just going by 538 because I don’t have a better site that sorts easily, but of the top 16 teams in the UCL by their ratings, 14 went through. The two that didn’t were Barcelona and Ajax and they were in groups with 2 other top-16 teams. Upsets in the group stage are obviously fun and it’s cool to see teams like Brugge and Frankfurt advance when they haven’t been to this stage ever or in a long time. But when the good teams advance, you get a ton of potentially good knockout round ties.
  13. Not that I thought the Packers were good before this week but the fact that the Packers only put up 9 points against a Lions team that basically allows teams to score whenever they want is alarming.
  14. Also just saw ManU drew Barcelona in the Europa League which makes me very happy.
  15. Not that I think Spurs should win that tie but I’m fine with it. Didn’t get PSG which is all I cared about. The other 6 runner ups besides PSG and Brugge are all fairly even. Also, LOL PSG. Guess they should have tried a bit more to maintain that goal differential. Good to see Benfica get rewarded for playing until the end and continuing to try to make up the GD by drawing easily the worst of the runner ups.
  16. It’s hilarious that before the year the NFL cleared out the afternoon schedule with only one other game competing with what it thought was a marquee Rams-Bucs matchup and then both teams suck so they’re stuck only airing that game.
  17. SMU-Houston ended 77-63 today in regulation. The over under was 66, which they passed with 5:34 left in the second quarter. It was 56-35 at halftime which means the second half was only 28-21. The two teams had 27 total drives in the game. 20 ended in TDs, 3 in interceptions, 1 on downs, 1 at the end of the game, 1 on a missed FG (end of the half and was attempted on 1st down) and 1 punt.
  18. Bama’s out of the playoff hunt too. Good result for Tennessee because if Bama had won out, they and Georgia would have gotten in to the playoff over Tennessee.
  19. How? Houston is the team that blew a 5-0 lead in Game 1. Also obligatory “the series isn’t over yet”. Game isn’t over yet either lol I mean, I get it. There’s no chance - and I mean NO CHANCE - a dominant Astros team would ever lose Games 6 and 7 at home in the World Series to a far inferior NL East team. So tonight really is it for the Phillies.
  20. That would have been a game tying hit and maybe a go ahead hit if the Astros weren’t holding the runner at first.
  21. How? Houston is the team that blew a 5-0 lead in Game 1. Also obligatory “the series isn’t over yet”.
  22. PSG finishes runner up as Benfica wins 6-1 while PSG only won 2-1. Benfica goes through on the seventh tiebreaker, which is overall away goals in the group. Benfica scored 5 in the second half including in the 88th and 92nd minutes. All of the runner ups except Brugge are solid. Seems like usually there’s 2-4 weaker sides in there as runner up but it’s only 1 this year. Going to be a lot of good round of 16 ties. There’s a 50-50 chance Bayern draws either Liverpool or PSG since they can’t draw the three German clubs or Inter.
  23. How the group progressed today. All four teams were in 2nd and 3rd at some point. Only Marseille was never in 1st and only Spurs were never in 4th (though this one was impossible due to tiebreakers). Just wild.
  24. HOLY SHIT SPURS AT THE END AGAIN. Marseille pushing for the win, which would have moved them into 2nd. A draw and Marseille finishes third and goes to the Europa. Instead they’re 4th and out of Europe.
  25. My reaction exactly. Well that plus for a second I fought “wait is it actually April 1?”
