  1. I believe that all of the players on all of the teams will basically become free agents if they are relegated. I'm pretty sure this would be the case if Juventus is relegated to Serie C but not completely sure for the other three (Lazio, Fiorentina, AC Milan) if they are relegated to Serie B. We'll just have to see how this plays out. Should be interesting.
  2. Kevin Youkilis....the Greek god of walks has 4 walks today and he is 0-3. His walks have accounted for 2 runs scored......some notify the Cubs. He also has a stolen base  Yeah, but the Red Sox have 10 walks and the White Sox only have 2 yet they both have 5 runs. So this clearly means walks don't matter.
  3. Agreed. Every thread CBB seems to go into he manages to get an anti-Sox comment in there.
  4. I'm not ready to give up on Ronny either and think he'll come around.
  5. I would like to be the first of hopefully many to apologize to Tommy Smyth for thinking he was crazy for picking Italy to win the World Cup. Tommy, you are a brilliant man and I will never doubt you again.
  6. No kidding, he calls the PK on the dive but not on the one that actually deserved the PK. Oh well, at least Italy fans can't bitch about the call in the first half now, since that one really evened it up. I wouldn't have called either one as penalty kicks. Was there contact? Sure. But when isn't there contact in soccer? Never. Neither one of those was bad enough to be called a penalty. Bad call on the first foul but a good no call on the second.
  7. I wouldn't say that his headbutt invalidates their WC victory in '98 or their Euro Cup victory in '00. It was stupid, and hurt them in this game. That's all. But it will be tarnished, heavily, Zidane will be remembered for having the most antiheroic end to a career in the history of sports. His accomplishments will never outweight this. And to think i use to love the guy 8 years ago. I still love the guy. He made a stupid mistake, but I have no doubt that the Italian player said something totally out-of-line to make Zidane lose his mind and do something something so out of character. Zidane's legacy will be heavily tarnished and I don't care what the Italian player said to Zidane because there is absolutely no reason for him to react like that in a 1-1 game in overtime. If France was about to lose then i could understand it a little more. Not excusing it though. Just think if Jordan would have punched a Jazz player in 1998 in game 6, got tossed out and suspended for game 7 and the Bulls lost the series. Are you telling me that everytime Jordan's legacy was brought up that people wouldn't mention that occurance? Zidane is a bum and any simpathy I had for the guy went right out the window. No more feel good stories about him retiring. Good bye Zinadine. You had a great career but you are a colossal idiot.
  8. Are you kidding me? Italy totally outplayed France in the first half. They had all the good chances. I'll give you the second half and overtime, but not the first half.
  9. I thought this was going to be about Baker cutting Rusch off from the buffet before the game.
  10. I hope not. I hope it's just a "we don't want to pitch him so we're going to throw out a bogus injury excuse" sort of thing. Please don't be seriously hurt Mark.
  11. It is a situational thing. The situation is that it was the fourth inning. No reason to be bunting in the fourth inning. None at all. And you have the lead too. Just let them hit.
  12. Definately. There is no good reason why he shouldn't be up here. He was given one shot at the beginning of the year, which shouldn't really be called that since he only pitched 3.2 innings, and hasn't received another chance since.
  13. World Cup Final! I wasn't planning on watching the game anyways Agreed. Thank goodness the World Cup is on. Now I won't have to resist any temptation to watch the Cubs game because there will be no temptation.
  14. The title should be "Zito signs with Boras to get even more money out of George Steinbrenner."
  15. LOL no problem reminds me of cubs.com message board I came from there. That's where I found out about NSBB. I try to contain myself here though. did they talk in all small letters at cubs.com too? It appears that way doesn't it? Couldn't resist.
  16. My vote makes it 24-0 GnR.
  17. Believe me, there are plenty of pot smoking Pantera fans as well. Maybe not as many as the Grateful Dead, but there are still plenty.
  18. I completely agree. Far more original than AC "32 albums, no ballads" DC But that's part of their appeal. You don't have to worry about hearing some crappy, sappy ballad in the middle of the album. One of my pet peeves for rock bands is the crappy ballad. If done right, it's good music. But if done wrong, it's absolutely horrible.
  19. I don't know if they are necessarily a three loss team easily in the SEC or ACC but we wouldn't be talking about them as a national title contender if they didn't play in the Big East. I'll give you that the could lose 3+ games in another conference but if you get the right schedule (re: 2005 Alabama) and play the right teams at home, your record will look better than your team is. The opposite also applies. I think the automatic BCS invitation is more likely to get revoked for a conference that always beats up on each other. I'm not sure the exact ranking but it's something like if your conference doesn't have a team ranked above a certain spot in the BCS (12 maybe?) a couple years in a row, you could lose your invitation. For the Big East, which is likely to have a team run the table or finish with 1 loss, they aren't likely to not have a team ranked that high. With the ACC, which has shown in previous years to all beat each other, this becomes more likely.
  20. I actually know a Packer fan who would be willing to take that bet, quite easily. Somehow a broken down Charles Woodson who never learned technique and some rookie LBs means division champs. Go Bears! Here's to a cakewalk NFC North title! Charles Woodson is unbelievably overrated and overpaid. The Packers can have him. I never understood why the Raiders kept making him their franchise player the last couple years. He was decent a few years ago but always gets injured now. Good riddence to him. Not that my Raiders will be much better (5-11 here we come) than the Packers.
  21. You need the Cubs to be shutout tomorrow to win.
  22. By far the shortest thread of the year. Previous was June 23 with Cubs (Marmol) at Twins (Santana) with 138 posts.
  23. Haha. I was thinking more along the lines of "don't you dare to get in my way EVER again", but yours works as well.
