  1. Wait a sec. now? The job was his to win in ST and both Guzman and Marshall out pitched him. So lets not here the Cubs don't give Rich Hill many chances. It's not how many chances you are given. It's how you take advantage of those chances when you are given them.. So that's why I haven't won the lottery. Hill hasn't been given a chance. The worst thing is, I believe he still won't be given a chance. He'll get 3 maybe 4 starts and that's if he is good in his first one. Then when Marshall comes back he'll be moved to the bullpen or sent back to AAA. He's been given a decent chance and hasn't shown the ability to pitch at the ML level. Marshall has definately outpitched Hill this year and has earned his spot in the rotation. In Hill's four starts this year he has given up 5, 5, 3, 7 ER respectively. In Marshall's first four starts this year he gave up 4, 4, 2, 0 ER respectively. Marshall showed progress. Hill didn't. He shouldn't get more than 3 or 4 starts to show he can pitch at the ML level. If he has four outings like he did earlier in the year, he shouldn't be given many more. Now, on the other hand, if Hill shows progress, then keep him in the rotation. Marshall has been terrible since then, so I guess he hasn't really shown that much prorgress overall. http://www.fangraphs.com/graphs.aspx?playerid=5905&position=P&page=0&type=full Just goes to show one, that four starts don't a career make. You should see a doctor for your myopia. Yeah, Marshall was terrible on May 1, May 6, May 17, May 27, June 2, June 7, and July 5. I realize that he hasn't been great recently, but if Marshall has been "terrible", how would you classify Hill?
  2. It's omnipresence? Wouldn't it be easier to ignore than to goad then? I think people are trying to show how wildly irrational it is rather than egging him on. That's not the way I read it. Not only does he make so many comments that are off base and blatently wrong, but he doesn't even back up his statements with any sort of a valid argument whatsoever. He also seems to bring up the White Sox in every single post he makes. And I'm not talking about this thread since it's obviously going to be AL Central centered but most other threads. It is very tiresome.

  4. For the right combination of players, I'm willing to deal one of them. Agreed. I would prefer to give up Dempster but if either Howry/Eyre were needed to complete the deal then so be it.
  5. Don't trade ARam. It isn't easy replacing a guy who averages 30 HR, 100 RBI, and does a decent job on defense. He's struggled this year, but everyone on the Cubs has struggled (except Barrett & Eyre) this year. The Cubs have lots of holes to fill, but 3B isn't one of them. Yeah, wouldn't want to pick up a guy who has averaged 45 HR, 125 RBI over the past 8 years (excluding this year because it's not a full year yet). His lowest OPS over that time is .887 (he is currently at .878 this year). BTW, that includes 4 years of 1.000+ OPS which includes one such year in 2005. Wouldn't want to have that guy.
  6. it's not hitting the white sox should be concerned with... Yeah, plus where would they put him?? LF. Pods in CF. And then where does Brian Anderson go?? AAA That's real smart     They're going to mess up a young kid just to have another masher in the lineup. http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j99/CubsBullsBears/LMAO.gifhttp://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j99/CubsBullsBears/LMAO.gifhttp://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j99/CubsBullsBears/LMAO.gifhttp://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j99/CubsBullsBears/LMAO.gifhttp://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j99/CubsBullsBears/LMAO.gifhttp://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j99/CubsBullsBears/LMAO.gifhttp://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j99/CubsBullsBears/LMAO.gifhttp://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j99/CubsBullsBears/LMAO.gifhttp://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j99/CubsBullsBears/LMAO.gifhttp://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j99/CubsBullsBears/LMAO.gif He's hitting .205/.289/.327. He's pretty messed up as it is. The Sox are trying to win the World Series, if they can upgrade the CF spot they have to do it. If Andreson can't handle a demotion with those numbers he can't cut it anyway. Offense isn't there issue. It's pitching I don't disagree, but you improve where you can when you can. If they can replace Anderson with a capable hitter they would be crazy not to do it just because it would "mess him up." He's as messed up as he can be now. Fine. So they improve on offense, but they don't address the pitching. That's real smart. If they get Soriano, they ought to change the ginder ball rule about power. Never underestimate the power of power: It has the power to destroy what the grinder ball was built on. Either way, they are still doing what's important: Improving their team. If they can't get pitching, they are improving their offense.
  7. I don't think he'll care enough to get it over .900.
  8. Close early. My vote is for AC/DC.
  9. Harris's AVG in 2003 was .193, and his OPS was .506. I think I would've taken my chances. Just to throw something else out there, that game was tied. Let's just say the Marlins don't score that inning. The Cubs didn't score in the bottom of that inning anyway so the game would have gone to the 12th. My point is, how can you say that they trailed since the third inning. The Cubs tied the game in the 6th and Sosa's HR tied it in the ninth. If Sammy doesn't hit that, the Cubs lose anyway. Game 6 on the other hand, the Cubs were leading in the eighth inning. The Cubs lost Game 6.. The Marlins won Game 1 and the Cubs did not blow that game.
  10. other than yesterdays game and his last start... I can not think of a single time he has KEPT us in a game. I believe it's called sarcasm.
  11. What (if any) downside do you see to Prior throwing 116 pitches in game 2? Just curious. That he stayed in 2 innings too long in a blowout win. What better time to give your bullpen a little work, especially with an day off the following day, than in a blowout? My main argument that it wasn't that one game that killed Prior, it was the whole season of being overworked and September in particular. As I said before, Prior also had 5 days off in between Games 2 and 6. If Prior wore down in Game 6, it wasn't 116 pitches in Game 2 that caused it.
  12. not being able to put a successful sacrifice bunt down in key situations is something a little bigger than a mole hill. most teams would kill to have ozzie as their manager. ozzie won a freakin world series. as im sure many cubs fans, including myself, find his antics annoying all the time, he will always have a job. look at terrel owens in the NFL. the guy is a total headcase, yet no matter how many teams he leaves, he will always have a job because he is such a good player. Like others have said, the problem with the White Sox is their pitching not their offense.
  13. Well if one HBP results in injury and losing the player for an extended time, while the other doesn't, that's not fair. I'm just talking about your general beaning in the back. Don't throw at the head. Just throw it at the middle of their back - a spot that rarely results in a serious injury. If the player sticks his elbow in the way or doesn't turn, that's his fault. I don't care. Of course not. Becuase my posts didn't mention either the White Sox or the Tigers in any way which seems to be the only thing you care about.
  14. Not going to happen because Z is starting on Tuesday.
  15. I would do this if Theriot was not involved... cause if he is we would not have a second baseman. Then again... i guess you could put Tejada at secondIzturis would be our 2B oh yay.. i miss read it.. I thought Izturis was being traded to get us Tejada... in that case IDC if Theriot is in the deal or not In the original post it was stated that Izturis would be part of the package being sent to Baltimore. If that's the case, why not just put Ronny at second and Tejada at short? here is the post i said i miss read I realize that. I'm talking about the post that started the thread. The post that referenced Phil Rogers.

  17. Honestly I just knew nothing about him. He may very well be a good option. If he could be had real cheap maybe you could even sign him AND Zito and try and consolidate some of out young pitchers to get an even better young player. There is no way the Cubs sign Zito in the offseason and, for the amount of money he is going to command, I don't think they should go after him. Considering Boras is his agent it's unlikely that he is going to take a few mil a year less to go somewhere.
  18. Well if Prior throws arond 90 pitches in game 2, he doesn't run out of gas at the end of game 6, which is what happened to him. So you're going to seriously tell me that one game of being overworked ruined Prior - even though he had 5 DAYS OFF rather than his normal four - and not a whole season of being overworked? That's ludicrous. I'm not saying that, but he should've saved him when he could have. I think it was lost there b/c those are 30-40 good pitches we could have had for game 6. Again, Prior was tired because of being overworked over the course of the whole season, not one game. To use an example, let's just say that Prior had the same pitches per start average that Marshall did this year (84 per game with a max of 102) rather than what he actually had in 2003 (113 per game with a max of 133), threw 116 pitches in a playoff game, then came out in his next start and wore down as the game went on. In that scenario you could make the argument that Prior had been worn down because he threw 32 more pitches than his average. But Prior was used to throwing 115+ pitches in 2003 so saying he wore down because of one start in which he threw 3 more pitches than his season average is just wrong. In fact, I would think that the 126 pitches he averaged every start in September of 2003 would have had a bigger effect on his arm.
  19. Because they are one of the greatest metal bands of all time.

  21. If we would have brought in a righty to start the inning McKeon had mentioned he would have used Harris in placee of Lowell. Dusty bringing in a lefty to start the inning which he later mentioned was to keep a check on Lenny. So it was lost in Game 6, but could have been won long before Game 6 even happened. What if Lenny Harris singles since it's unlikely he would have hit a home run? Then it ends up with the same situation outlined above with Lowell being walked.
