  1. And after we trade Barrett, we can trade DLee, ARam and Z. Absolutely not. Keep Barrett.
  2. I like both bands but this isn't close; Led Zeppelin by far.
  3. Because hes an Al Davis guy ;) by the way, i have to hate you somewhat, becasue of your raiderism, seeing as im bronco faithful, you know how it is. Fair enough.
  4. but shouldnt that give even more credibility for Z? The fact that he has an 11-3 record alone should wow alot of voters. Brandon Webb is 11-3 also and his ERA is .76 lower than Z's and Webb's WHIP is lower as well (1.11 compared to 1.23). A team's record should not come into play when deciding the Cy Young. The award is handed out to the best pitcher in the league, not the best pitcher on the best team. Fact is, Webb has been a better so far this year.
  5. I hope they place him gently. The Cubs will try to place Prior on the 15 day DL but they will drop him, he'll break his leg and will have to be placed on the 60 day DL.
  6. I would like to see him end the year with 59 IP and a 7.17 ERA. But if he's going to pitch, I hope he gets hammered and wouldn't mind seeing a 10+ ERA.
  7. Webb is clearly the leader right now with Carpenter likely in second. Z and Arroyo are tied for third in my book.
  8. The only Cubs games I make a point of watching are games in which Z pitches. I'll watch other games if they happen to be on but I want to see Z take the mound every time out.
  9. He'll be placed on the DL tomorrow.
  10. Why oh why must Aaron Brooks be our quarterback this year? #-o
  11. It's a different type of love. Pedro Gomez does the daily reports on how Bonds is feeling, whether he is going to play or not (and if he isn't, the reason for it), and how he is dealing with all the steroid allegations as well as the potential indictments. Tim Kurkjian only does his Bonds spiel when Bonds hits a historic homerun. When it took Bonds almost two weeks to hit #714, I swear I saw the same Kurkjian piece every other day because they were anticipating him hitting it. The phrase I remember was "when he does finally pass the Babe..." which was changed to "now that he has caught the Babe..." after he hit 714 and changed to "now that he has passed the Babe..." after he hit 715.
  12. You mean Tim "I love Barry Bonds" Kurkjian. Every time Bonds is about to hit a historic homerun or has hit one, Kurkjian has a piece on SportsCenter and Baseball Tonight praising Bonds. It's sickening. When Bonds hit #715 SportsCenter used up 20 minutes of airtime on Bonds out of the hour show which included 10 minutes of Bonds praising by Kurkjian (part the piece and part him actually talking that day).
  13. Not to mention our savior.
  14. Unless you are going to New York tomorrow (which is unlikely considering the game is at 12:10 Eastern Time), you won't be seeing Prior this weekend. According to Cubs.com Hill pitches Thursday, TBA (maybe Marmol) on Friday, Maddux on Saturday, and Z on Sunday.
  15. Ever since Detroit started off hot and the White Sox had firm control of the Wild Card, I have maintained that both the Red Sox and Yankees would make the playoffs this year. The part of my prediction that is looking like it will end up incorrect is that I thought Detroit would slip and miss the playoffs while the White Sox win the AL Central. But I do see two teams from the AL East getting in, or at least the Yankees. The Yankees are like the Braves, they've made the playoffs/won their division so many years in a row that I'm not going to count them out.
  16. More like an A's fan moving to LA. Yes. An A's fan 10 miles away in San Fran? Not a big deal; I have friends from SF who are A's fans and friends from the East Bay who are Giants fans. Obviously there are going to be people that like both the A's and the Giants just like there are people who like both Chicago teams and both New York teams. But I know way more A's or Giants fans that don't really like the other team or just downright hate the other team. I know way more A's fans that would pull for the Dodgers over the Giants than the other way around. Oh yeah, my friends like one of the Bay area teams but don't like the other. My point is that the two cities/teams are too close for there to be a similar comparison as a KCer moving to St Louis or an Oaklander moving to LA. Ah, ok. You were addressing the location part of it. I agree with this assessment.
  17. Consider yourself lucky, the game starts at 9 AM out here.
  18. Fine with me especially if that means we trade Dempster for some prospects.
  19. CUBS WIN!! And take the series against the Mets.
  20. Come on Bobby. End this thing.
  21. I don't think Z has it tonight...which is why I'm not watching anymore.
  22. The A's won 20 straight in 2002. Scott Hatteberg hit a walk off HR in the bottom of the ninth to win the 20th game. I was there and it was unbelievable. I believe that is the game that is detailed in "Moneyball". That it was.
  23. Z has as many home runs in 44 AB's this year as Ronny and Slappy do combined in 750 AB's.
  24. I'm not going to lie, I laughed at this.
