  1. 4 AB's in 17 games in his first stint. I doubt Theriot is not going to play much this time either.
  2. Yeah, I can't see them meeting much competition. Metallica is taking somebody out.
  3. Or get traded somewhere with a better team I don't think Hendry trades Jacque. If he plays well, Hendry will think he made the right move offering a three-year deal. Now, the better Maddux pitches, the easier it will be to move him. Agreed. I only see Hendry trading players whose contracts are up at the end of the year (Maddux, Pierre, Walker) rather than somebody he just signed as a free agent in the offseason (Jones).
  4. Wow. Floyd was stealing and Maddux still threw him out at second to start the double play.
  5. Jacque!. I called it before the ASB (not sure which thread) but I'll say it again. We're taking 2 of 3 from the Mets.
  6. You're right. Now a choice: listen to Steve Stone on ESPN or Len and Bob on CSN.
  7. Good to hear Steve Stone announcing today.
  8. Why don't we just shut Prior down for the rest of the year so he can take as long as he wants to recover and let Hill start for the remainder of the year. Even if he gets shelled, just let him pitch for the rest of the year. Either he works his way though it and garners consideration for a starting spot next year, or he hit hard and we narrow down our potential options for starters next year. Either way, it gives the Cubs something to bank on.
  9. Can football start already?
  10. Agreed. As I was reading along, I started to look up stats and was about to post but then read what O_O said and realized that my idea was basically what he said. And he probably stated it better than I would have.
  11. Tell me you made that up. Tell me he did not say that. Word for word. Kill me. Oh my lord. *Opens bottle of Jack Daniels and takes HUGE swig*
  12. It matters in the first two rounds, which is where all of the best talent is always concentrated. You still have to scout guys, but the odds of finding a future All Star are the greatest in those two rounds. The higher you are, the larger the pool you have to pick from. After that, matters become much more reliant on the scouting department. Obviously having a top pick will help you a bit, but a top 5 pick in baseball doesn't mean anywhere near as much as having a top 5 pick in basketball or football.
  13. NOBODY CARES, AGAIN!!
  14. Houston didn't play any of the other three 2005 AL playoff teams (NYY, BOS, LAA) so how do you know if the Astros are second best? The Red Sox and Angels also lost to the White Sox in the postseason and it is impossible to determine if the Astros were better than either of those two if the Astros didn't play either of them. I'm not saying that the Astros weren't the second best team just that it's impossible to determine if they were.
  15. But speedy Maddux is pitching too. Wonder who will win out...probably Trachsel. Especially since Trachsel will throw a complete game and Maddux will only go 5 innings.
  16. I think he's still holding out hope the team goes on a run and gets into some semblance of contention by the end of the month. However, I also think he understands the odds of that happening are pretty bad. It's going to be August before Hendry realizes the team isn't going to contend which will make it much harder to make trades to help the team in 2007.
  17. Jeez, can those two headlines be any more punny? One of the best headlines ever. Ha, I didn't even notice the headline the first time I looked at the article. That makes it even more hilarious.
  18. Ask the A's how much the draft means. Your position in the draft doesn't really matter. The actual draft does.
  19. HAHAHAHAHA. Steinbrenner must really want to miss the postseason. ESPN Link
  20. I doubt Miggy C is going anywhere. Willis, possibly, but Cabrera would be organizational suicide. Agreed. I don't see Miguel Cabrera going anywhere this year. No chance.
  21. How about ARam for Abreu? The theory behind these deals seems to be the Cubs would replace Aramis with Ensberg. The problem is there's no way they are getting Ensberg. I see Abreu and Ramirez being similar hitters for the next couple years, so this is just a lateral move, because they'd have to replace Ramirez's bat at third, which would be very hard. I don't get the point unless you've got a brilliant follow-up involving ARod. I would take Aramis barely but just because he's 28 and Abreu is 32 so ARam is less likely to have a big decline over the next couple years. Although he did have a big decline this year so who knows.
  22. I can't stand DMB band and don't mind Smashing Pumpkins so SP gets my vote.
  23. I like some of Aerosmith's work but I downright hate the White Stripes. Aerosmith gets my vote.
