  1. Why couldn't he have done that in the eighth inning on June 5?
  2. Dunn needs a couple good 2 or 3 strikeout games to get himself back on record pace.
  3. BREAKING NEWS: Dusty Baker's head exploded today (July 20, 2006) after Matt Murton got an RBI in his at bat in the fifth inning without even taking a swing.
  4. Patterson in 04 Corey had 32 in 04. And change my question to 35 steals in a season. Eric Young, 54 in 2000 Wow. I didn't realize EY stole that many bases.
  5. Terrible, he's hit like .220/.300/.450 since that first tear during the beginning of the season. He's literally hit like 3 homers since the first 9. Shelton has 16 HR's on the year.
  6. Patterson in 04 Corey had 32 in 04. And change my question to 35 steals in a season.
  7. Does anybody know when the last time a Cubs player stole 34 bases in a season was?
  8. WGN showed Dempster on the phone during a game a few days ago.
  9. Besides general business ethics, yes, the commissioner's office would most definitely get involved. Just to play devil's advocate, how would the commissioner's office know? If nothing came out to the press and this scenario happened, how would anybody know that it wasn't just Aramis wanting to return to Wrigley in 2007?
  10. Beltre was coming off a 1000+ ops season. No way Aramis gets a deal like that in free agency. Aramis has had a better career than Beltre but hasn't had a season like Beltre's in 2004.
  11. Yep, you're right. I'm sure Sosa's downfall had absolutely nothing to do with his getting drilled in the head in 2003 when his helmet shattered. You remember the incident? It was the one that caused Sosa to move further away from the plate so he couldn't even dream of hitting an outside pitch. That is what killed Sammy. Say what you want about the steroids and throw out all the accusations you want. But you can't completely ignore Sammy's getting beaned. Sure, the steroids probably had some effect on his downfall, but I believe that the beaning ultimately had more of an affect and really sped up the process. EDIT: I have no desire to see Sosa play again and tarnish his legacy even further. Please stay retired Sammy.
  12. Oh my goodness ARam absolutely CRUSHED that ball.
  13. "That ball, deep into left field. Way way back" A HOME RUN!!
  14. Anyone else find it hilaroius that Len and Bob continue to make jokes about the group of guys wearing red - especially the guy that is "meditating"?
  15. I like me an underdog. CCR it is. Broke the tie as well. 17-16.
  16. And now Dusty will bench him for a week for walking.
  17. Barrett with the RBI. Cubs will win today solely because Z is pitching.
  18. That decision is such crap. I don't understand how Zidane only gets three games for blatently attacking an opposing player. I don't care if he's retiring. You have to assume that he might come back and suspend him appropriately. Plus, they gave De Rossi 5 games, but reduced it to 4 games, for elbowing McBride. At least the ball was in the area when De Rossi did what he did. Zidane should have received at least 5 games - I would have given him 7 or 8 for this. Materazzi's 2 game suspension is also lame as well but only because Zidane only got 3 games. I don't see how you suspend one person for saying something and another person only one game more for an attack on another player. This is just another example of FIFA having their heads up their rears during this tournament.
  19. I would love it if the Cubs got Burrell. He's had one bad year (2003) but other than that he has been a good hitter for his career.
  20. yes. I want to argue that a bases empty walk is usually better than a bases empty single. Under your stipulations, it is only better if it takes more pitches. A four pitch bases empty walk is equal to a four pitch bases empty single. When was the last time a Cub has hit a 4 pitch single? I'd take the walk myself, because it guarantee's you've atleast worked the picther 4 counts. Yesterday. It was the bottom of the seventh and the bases were empty.
  21. I like Skynyrd a bit more than Queen so they get my vote. I won't be too upset if they lose though.
