I have to sell that. Is not winning a world championship the only criteria? My criteria is this: would you rather be a Detroit Lions fan or a Cub fan? Would you rather be a Cleveland Browns fan or a Cub fan? Would you rather be a Tampa Bay Devil Ray fan or a Cub fan? A Pittsburgh Pirate fan of a Cub fan? A Toronto Raptor fan or a Cub fan? I think one is blowing it way out of proportion to call the Cubs the worst organization in sports history. Or either they've forgotten about the Cub history from 1906-1945. History means existence forever, not just the last three decades. You can't really compare playoff appearances with baseball teams as you can hockey or basketball teams since half of their teams make the playoffs. If baseball invited eight teams from each league to the playoffs, we'd have at least two more playoff appearances just since 2001 (2001 and 2004). By the way, none of us here have been Cub fans for 97 years, so I can only count since 1977 when I became a Cub fan. That's almost thirty years. Many, many professional teams have gone 30+ years without a World Championship. And the Cubs haven't played for a World Series title since 1945. That's a bad 6 decades, not 3. Longevity plays a big role in this as well. The Toronto Raptors have only been around since 1995 so they don't count. They Devil Rays fall into this as well. The Browns and Lions are bad, but at 42 and 49 years respectively, they still don't compare to the Cubs. The Pirates have won 5 World Series titles since the Cubs won one including 3 since the Cubs have even played in a World Series.[/b]

I hate the Red Sox and all those stupid teenagers wearing pre-faded "B" hats. I want to kill them all. Do you hate the Yankees caps that come out in 3854 different colors and worn by everybody because it's fashionable and the hat matches the persons wardrobe? Because that is WAY more obnoxious than pre-faded "B" hats. I'm sure a majority of people wearing "B" hats are actually Boston fans.

That makes a big difference in how I feel about the whole thing, even though I still don't like it. So why would Hendry lie about it then? Why couldn't he just have said "Izturis was the best I could do because the Dodgers didn't offer any good prospects"? There definately wouldn't have been nearly as much uproar as there was if he would have said something along those lines.

I got into a huge argument with some one over on Reds Zone about the predictive power of various stats (IsoD vs. K/BB) in measuring prospects and other hitters. Let me dig up his posts; they were actually really good. Edit: Here we go. Link It's a long thread, but I had a blast participating in it. That was tough, but good read. On a side note, I like the reputation points thing they have going on over there.

As a whole, the Cubs are the worst organization in the history of sports because of 97 years of futility. Recently the New York Knicks take the crown because Isiah Thomas has completely run the team into the ground. He has bogged the team down with horrible trades that forced the team to take on ungodly bad contracts that nobody else wanted. Because of this they have the highest payroll in the league which managed to get them the second worst record in the league. They didn't have their #2 pick in the draft this year and the Bulls will have the option of switching picks with them next year (which they will do because the Knicks suck and the Bulls don't) which means they don't have much of a chance of drafting a great player that can help them right away. They are likely going to owe Larry Brown a ton of money because they fired him (he had 4/$40 left on his deal). Right now the Knicks are a complete embarassment and there isn't much hope for the next couple years. At least the Cubs have the chance to make some good FA signings and trades to make the team competative next year. The Knicks will be lucky to win 30 games in 2006-07.

There is absolutely no way the Cubs get Zito. He's going to either New York (both teams), Boston, Anaheim, LA. No way he comes to Chicago.

I could list about 50 Beatles songs that don't really "rock," but "Yesterday" is the most commonly known one. Sure, but there are a handful (or more) that do and you were careful to steer clear of them. That's my point. Isn't that what you do in an argument thought, try and prove your point? You surely don't want to give evidence to disprove your point and make your opponent correct do you? If somebody doen't think, on the whole, that the Beatles rock, they are not going to cite the songs that do rock but are going to cite the songs that don't rock (and usually the more famous songs) to prove their point.

you like them better personally or you think Metallica are actually better songwriters-musicmakers? Both. The guitar/bass work in their first four albums is just unbelievable. Some of the guitar solos in the songs are just ridiculous. "The Call of Klutu" and "Orion", as somebody said, are great songs that I will listen to in their entirety even though they have no lyrics. They wrote quality lyrics for each of those albums as well - which was one of my huge criticisms (among many) of "St. Anger". I'm not going to say the Beatles aren't rock because I think they are. But I think Metallica is the better band.

I think they are just going to leave him in their today, you dont want to go into game 2 with a guy making his big league debut and no pen. Unless of course he cant get his pitch count under control. His pitch count is already at 38 so they won't be able to leave him in too long if the game continues this way.
