  1. Then again, this is the Cubs.
  2. Z has to catch Webb before he can pull away from him. Webb is doing his part to help that happen tonight. Webb's ERA is now 2.64. And his RA is 2.98 as well now and Z's is 3.46. That's still a decent gap but not as big as the ERA gap, and IMO RA is a better factor of how much a pitcher helps his team than ERA. The difference in WHIP is now down to 0.10. Webb may still have a lead, but Z is coming on fast. Why is RA a better factor? It's not the pitcher's fault if he gives up unearned runs. Obviously unearned runs are going to affect the outcome of the game but this award is for who is the best pitcher for the year and statistics that a pitcher can't control (re: wins, unearned runs) shouldn't affect who wins the award. Don't forget about Chris Carpenter as well, who I also have in front of Z at this point.

  4. When a team has made the postseason a number of years in a row (re: Braves, Yankees), I tend to favor that team to make the playoffs again until they prove me wrong.
  5. I didn't know the Giants could play two series at once. Will this be split squad?
  6. AL East: Boston AL Central: Detroit AL West: Anaheim AL WC: New York NL East: New York NL Central: St. Louis NL West: San Diego NL WC: Atlanta ALDS: Detroit over New York Boston over Anaheim NLDS: St. Louis over Atlanta New York over San Diego ALCS: Boston over Detroit NLCS: New York over St. Louis World Series: Boston over New York in 7 The Red Sox get revenge for 1986.

  8. HR Derby, here we come. Pujols goes deep at least twice.
  9. Just saw this in Cbssportsline.com: According to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, the Mariners and Rangers are eyeing a possible trade with the Cubs to acquire infielder Todd Walker Of course, who knows how old it is. If the deal is done between the M's and Cleveland, what could we get from the Rangers? Jerry Hairston Jr.
  10. NSBB will explode and cease to exist if Hendry does nothing.
  11. First team to 10 runs wins...if the wind is blowing in. If it's blowing out, first to 20.
  12. At least Prior showed improvement today.
  13. Just trade him somewhere, let him play for a contender, and get him away from Dusty.
  14. And after we trade Barrett, we can trade DLee, ARam and Z. Absolutely not. Keep Barrett.
  15. I like both bands but this isn't close; Led Zeppelin by far.
  16. Because hes an Al Davis guy ;) by the way, i have to hate you somewhat, becasue of your raiderism, seeing as im bronco faithful, you know how it is. Fair enough.
  17. but shouldnt that give even more credibility for Z? The fact that he has an 11-3 record alone should wow alot of voters. Brandon Webb is 11-3 also and his ERA is .76 lower than Z's and Webb's WHIP is lower as well (1.11 compared to 1.23). A team's record should not come into play when deciding the Cy Young. The award is handed out to the best pitcher in the league, not the best pitcher on the best team. Fact is, Webb has been a better so far this year.
  18. I hope they place him gently. The Cubs will try to place Prior on the 15 day DL but they will drop him, he'll break his leg and will have to be placed on the 60 day DL.
  19. I would like to see him end the year with 59 IP and a 7.17 ERA. But if he's going to pitch, I hope he gets hammered and wouldn't mind seeing a 10+ ERA.
  20. Webb is clearly the leader right now with Carpenter likely in second. Z and Arroyo are tied for third in my book.
  21. The only Cubs games I make a point of watching are games in which Z pitches. I'll watch other games if they happen to be on but I want to see Z take the mound every time out.
  22. He'll be placed on the DL tomorrow.
  23. Why oh why must Aaron Brooks be our quarterback this year? #-o
  24. It's a different type of love. Pedro Gomez does the daily reports on how Bonds is feeling, whether he is going to play or not (and if he isn't, the reason for it), and how he is dealing with all the steroid allegations as well as the potential indictments. Tim Kurkjian only does his Bonds spiel when Bonds hits a historic homerun. When it took Bonds almost two weeks to hit #714, I swear I saw the same Kurkjian piece every other day because they were anticipating him hitting it. The phrase I remember was "when he does finally pass the Babe..." which was changed to "now that he has caught the Babe..." after he hit 714 and changed to "now that he has passed the Babe..." after he hit 715.
