I really like Tejada and think he could still help this team for the near future, but if Angelos doesn't want to accept Aybar and Santana for him, the kind of package he would accept likely would decimate almost any farm system. If Tejada was a FA, I wouldnt be too thrilled to sign him to a 3 yr 38M contact, let alone give up very quality ML talent to acquire him and his contract. PASS. While Tejada is on pace to put up career highs in AVG/OBP/OPS and a near career high in SLG, it wouldn't be worth it for the Cubs to get him considering what the Orioles would likely want in return. Any such deal is likely to hurt the Cubs in the future rather than help them.

If Cliff Burton-era Metallica can be called over-rated, than so can the Beatles and Zeppelin. I'll agree 90's and later Metallica is nothing special, but the first Metallica 3 records are as much masterpieces as any Zep or Beatles recordings. Uhh, sorry, but no. Nothing Metallica has ever done can compare to Revolver or Rubber Soul in the "masterpiece" category. For that matter, nothing they've done can compare to Sgt. Pepper, The White Album, Abbey Road... well if you need to be picky, I'd say that Master of Puppets is the best heavy metal record ever made. If you don't want to put it up with beatles stuff, fine, but it's definitely one of the best records ever made I'm on your side Derwood, but ...And Justice For All was absolutely unbelievable musically. 9 songs and 63 minutes of pure awesomeness. I understand the argument that they went too far with AJFA but I absolutely love that album. IMO opinion it's not significantly better than Master of Puppets and I will gladly listen to either any day, but I think AJFA is a bit better.

Fortunately, I have absolutely no expectations whatsoever for the Raiders this year so I'm not worried about any devastating injuries. They aren't going to make the playoffs with Aaron "I throw the ball backwards" Brooks at quarterback. 6-10 here we come.

I'm sure teams are interested in Eyre and Howry but I don't think Hendry wants to trade them. I don't think it has anything to do with their contracts. Kyle Farnsworth got 3/$17 last year. 3/10 is the going rate for good relievers. Again, I think it's up to Hendry if he wants to trade them.

I don't think his walk rate needs to be reduced at all. His BB/9 is currently 2.19 and he currently has the second best GB/FB ratio in the ML behind Brandon Webb and Derek Lowe. I don't think he'll be an ace but I believe he'll be a solid starter in the ML for a number of years.

In the 7th, runners on 1st and 2nd for the Cards with 2 out. Novoa hit Rolen between the letters on his back with a 1-2 pitch. Looper came in to start the bottom of the seventh, retired the first two Cubs players, then drilled ARam on the first pitch with the bases empty. And LaRussa called it unintentional after the game.

Probably the same reason the press gave for why the Sox were/are pursuing Soriano. There's no pitching available, might as well improve where you can. if Beane holds onto Zito and the Giants hold onto Schmidt, which I think they both will as the playoffs are reachable, the top pitchers on the market are Livan and Maddux. And IIRC, Maddux doesn't want to go to the AL.

Neither manager has gained much favor on the north side of Chicago and both like to retaliate for beanings, but at least Ozzie is straightforward about it. He may not be going about it the right way by making it public and saying he is going to instruct his pitchers to bean somebody, but at least he doesn't lie about it. LaRussa trys to make excuses and says that he only retaliates if his player is beaned intentionally. So take your pick, who do you dislike more. NOTE: This isn't a who would you rather have/not have as a manager poll.
