  1. Stealing my jokes now, eh? Well I uhh...well uh... I didn't see you post that...uhh...*runs* I know I'm tall but am I really that scary? :D
  2. ARam has definately become a solid 3B. I haven't criticized his defense for a while now. It's obvious that he has worked hard to improve his defense and has succeeded in doing so.
  3. Do you realize that even if the Cubs won their next 17 straight games, it would get them to .500 and if the Dodgers and Reds played .500 baseball over that time, they would still be 2 games ahead of the Cubs in the Wild Card. The moral of the story: 9.5 games out can be deceptive.
  4. I never do the wave. Just not my thing.
  5. Sammy looked like a little kid with his celebration there. Ah the memories. Sigh.
  6. That really says something as to how pathetic the NL is.
  7. Thank you for pointing this out. I went to the top of the thread and realized that Queen defeated 4 bands I really enjoy listening to. All the more reason to vote for The Who.
  8. Well, this is really just the first thing that I've worried about with the Bears. I didn't mind the draft. I liked the Griese signing. I'm pretty confident they'll be a good team this year and can make some noice. But both RBs going down is not something to laugh off. That's true. And I'm not really laughing it off. Just refusing to stress myself over it...at least till we get a couple preseason games under our belt. I would be much more worried about the quarterback situation if I was the Bears. The defense should be solid again and I don't think both RB's should be out very long. Grossman finally staying healthy and showing what he can do is the question mark. be worried that a third fluke injury is going to happen? when they have a legitimate backup now? the Bears QB situation is better than it has been in years, perhaps decades. now you wanna talk about QB concerns, let's talk about the silver and black. Brian Griese will screw it up somehow. It will happen. As for the Raiders, I don't really mind Aaron Brooks. I have absolutely no expectations for this team whatsoever. If they play well and go 7-9 or 8-8, great, they're making strides. If they play like I expect them to and go 4-12, great, they'll get a good draft pick. And I have heard that Andrew Walter is doing well in camp. Hopefully I'll get to watch one of the preseason games so I'll get to see him play.
  9. The problem is there is a chance he'll get Guzman'd, or Cruz'd, assuming you mean, sit in the bullpen doing nothing for two weeks because the manager is more concerned with getting to 17 games under .500 instead of developing players for next year. That is what I mean. I want Mateo to pitch. If he isn't going to pitch at the ML level, send him down.
  10. As long as Mateo doesn't get Guzman'd, I'm fine with him moving to the pen.
  11. I think Hill is definitely making some strides but I would like to see a couple more solid performances before I'm going to light up the grill to cook the crow I have in my freezer.
  12. Everybody read what you wrote the first time you wrote it. That being said, you do make a good point.
  13. Factor in that there were less pitchers in the big leagues becuase there were less teams in the big leagues as well.
  14. Somehow having Gretzky's jersey retired by the NHL feels right, but having Michael Jordan's jersey retired by the NBA doesn't feel right.....there's just something different about Gretzky. Maybe it was because he is the greatest hockey player ever, and there is not even any argument that is possible for someone else. (And please don't call me a racist with this post.) I agree with you. As great as Jordan was, he didn't do much record-wise that people had never seen before. Gretzky completely rewrote the NHL record book. For example, he racked up more career assists than any other player has career points.
  15. I would love to get him but I think he'll go to either the Yankees or Mariners.
  16. Watch the Astros miss the playoffs.
  17. but the question is not what the vet's committee thinks, at least not for a number of years. what is important is what the writers think. Did you read the Rob Neyer article that Vance is talking about? Neyer was talking about writers (granted, some of them didn't have HOF votes) and not the Veteran's Committee. I doubt McGwire gets elected next year.
  18. Stealing my jokes now, eh? I believe that was from a beer commercial. So you are the thief. Touche Garwilly. Touche. Well, I beat him to the joke then. By over a day as well.

  20. I fall in that category and I voted for the Who. Not voting for them in the Finals though.
  21. Wow, this is a shame. This would have been like if Illinois and North Carolina would have faced each other in the semifinals in the 2005 Men's NCAA Basketball Tournament instead of the finals. I voted for Zep but it's a shame that this isn't the finals matchup as the winner of this one should easily defeat either The Who or Queen.
  22. 10 points HEY!!! I used that exact point why Ramirez should use the escape clause and all y'all just said Beltre was coming off a career year. All garbage. "all y'all"? are you really from the Chicagoland area? By the way, I think his Beltre reference was a way of mocking you. Yeah, I'll second the mocking part.
  23. Stealing my jokes now, eh?
  24. <- has Derrek Lee I think I speak for a lot of people with this one.
