  1. Good job Juan. Way to not give a guy who is 3-3 on the day a chance to get on base in the eighth to bring ARam up.
  2. Holy cow. I just tuned back in and saw Hank White with the 2 run blast. Cubs are only down 2 now.
  3. Screw this game, I'm going to play video games.
  4. Excellent article Bruce. I especially like the impersonation of Hendry. Keep up the good work.
  5. ARAM with the HR. Too bad he loafed around the bases on the HR.
  6. Len Kasper for Team President. Bruce Miles for GM. Bob Brenly for manager.
  7. And the Cubs are working on killing Mateo's arm already. He's pitching today and he's scheduled to start on Saturday. Brilliant.
  8. Yeah, he should have given up 2 runs that inning. How? Walk, flyout, Walk, flyout, flyout. The inning should have been over wildness or not. Yeah, you're right. I forgot about the ball that dropped between Pagan and Pierre and was assuming that would have been a hit. If that drops then the Brewers score 2 runs but that ball should have been caught. Thanks for the correction.
  9. Hey, hey, hey. Don't insult Jacque like that. He can catch the ball. He just can't throw it with any sort of accuracy or power.
  10. Yeah, he should have given up 2 runs that inning.
  11. Because, as Len and Bob just said, he's "speedy."
  12. If Pagan plays so deep, shouldn't he have been able to get under that ball? Also, Bob just ripped Jacque's arm. He said "Jacque can't seem to find a middle ground - he either airmails the catcher or spikes the ball into the ground."
  13. If I would have picked Ryan Howard over Derrek Lee I would have 282 and would be in 3rd place.
  14. But my point is his affiliation with the Mets has nothing to do with it. It's MLB wide, not to mention, all of pro sports. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h184/soccer10k/0504_large.jpg
  15. Is there a way to download a video clip from YouTube? If not, does anyone have the video of the Division-clinching double play from 2003?
  16. Who says we aren't fighting for a WC spot! We are only 9.5 games out! We are right in the thick of it. I wish people would stop saying that, even if in jest. I really do not want this team to rope me back in.... If the Cubs get within 5 games by September they will get my attention. Otherwise I will continue to have no playoff hopes for this team. I told my dad that going into today's games, the Cubs were just 9.5 out of a playoff spot - solely to prove a point that the NL was horrible this year and not to say they might make the playoffs - and he said the Cubs "might as well be 95 games out." Thought it was funny.
  17. If the Cubs start to win with Izturis/Cedeno/Murton hitting/playing well and the young arms pitching well, shouldn't that be considered a good thing?
  18. Why do you hate them? I could tell you why he hates the White Sox. He had some anti-White Sox blog last year. He used to post there under a different name, but he says all the same things. One reason was that there was some Sox fan at his high school (New Trier) that he hated and the other was that he used to post on southsiders.net, which is a small-time White Sox message board. I guess they banned him and it was the mortal wound of his life because after that he went on a real rampage, trolling all the Sox message boards, kicking his blog into overtime, trolling non-White Sox boards with anti-White Sox messages, encouraging people to spam and troll the southsiders.net board, etc. He'd report his anti-White Sox activities on his anti-Sox blog (which is gone now). A lot of it was funny to read, particularly his defense of his activities (White Sox fans are bad because they hate the Cubs obsessively, so he hates the White Sox obsessively)and his theory that MLB is conspiring to keep the Cubs from ever winning the World Series. A little too much time on your hands? For which one? Tad for knowing/coming up with all of this or, if it's true, CubsBullsBears for doing all this? And based on his posts, I wouldn't put this sort of activity past CBB.
  19. I don't see any mention of what they need to do to be eligible however. Perhaps they must finish in the top 8 to get there? I have to be missing something here. Soccer says they are guaranteed a spot if they finish in the top 8. I'm wondering if they can be eligible without being guaranteed a spot or if they must be in the top 8. My guess is that they have to be eligible now along with everyone else if they are ranked in the top 14 in the BCS (up from 12 last year-because the number of teams in the BCS went from 8 to 10). I think it was a compromise with ND-ND used to be eligible with either a 9 win team or a top 12 ranking, and had to be top 6 to be automatically in-now they have to have at least 9 wins and be in the top 14 like everyone else, with a top 8 bid getting them automatically in. I also like that they have given a possible path to minor conferences-any team from a minor conference that finishes in the top 12 will be automatically in-and 13th through 16th if there is a major conference winner that is ranked below that (which there has been just about every year). So it is likely that we will see the best minor conference team in a BCS bowl pretty much every year-which I think their best usually deserves. This is over a year old but it's all I could find.
  20. Ironic, considering ND played Michigan last year. That's why I included the word likely. Obviously it would be stupid to say that Michigan will be in the BCS hunt every single year because they won't be. But most years, Michigan will be a serious contender to win the Big 10.
  21. Maybe the Cubs should schedule a special non-hitting session where they go into the batters box with no bats and watch the pitches go by. Anyone who pretends to swing the bat runs a lap around the field.
  22. Almost. I didn't want to cheat by making a bunch of useless posts just to get to 25 pages. Not very sporting. You mean like this post?
