  1. I resemble that remark. :? Yeah, but what's his excuse? You had a beautiful woman serving you drinks...totally justified! He takes a shot every time Bonnie Bernstein talks about Albert Pujols.
  2. If you play with Juan Pierre, you too can learn how to routinely ground out to second base. Just look at the results.
  3. Have the players been asked about this situation?
  4. He throws right-handed and bats left-handed.
  5. What are they when facing an opponent with a dumber manager than Dusty? 0-0.
  6. I second that notion. Novoa gives me a painful feeling in my stomach. http://espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/5764.jpg
  7. I didn't feel like reading the whole thread so I apologize if I say something that somebody else already said. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't a knock on the Cubs a few years ago that even though the were near the top of the league in HR's hit, they hit too many solo HR's and were subsequently not near the top of the league in runs scored? Just checked: 2005: 7th in HR's and 20th in R in the ML, 2nd and 9th in the NL 2004: 3rd in HR's and 16th in R in the ML, 1st and 7th in the NL 2003: 14th in HR's and 20th in R in the ML, 8th and 9th in the NL 2002: 5th in HR's and 22nd in R in the ML, 1st and 11th in the NL
  8. More late inning heroics against the Cards on ESPN coming up? Let's hope so. EDIT: Too bad Izzy supposedly isn't available tonight.
  9. ESPN Cy Predictor now has Wagner easily ahead of Webb and Z.
  10. I still maintain that a player on a team that isn't even in playoff contention should not win the award. I will also say that I didn't know that Dye had a higher OPS than Thome this year. My list is: Ramirez Jeter Dye Ortiz Hafner But with the Red Sox in a huge downfall, this could change.
  11. That game still hurts; I remember it very well. Another 6-run lead game that's still painful (I was at the game, surrounded by obnoxious Cardinal fans): http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B07200CHN2004.htm That game killed me. I left for work when the score was 7-2. When I got there and saw that the Cardinals took the lead, I pushed a huge stack of papers off a desk in anger. My coworkers (all Red Sox fans) looked at me like I was nuts. After that I was known as "Angry Cub fan", as I remain to this day. Haha. Yesterday I wasn't feeling well mood-wise (personal problem) and my coworkers noticed. The other bartender (a woman) asked me "What's wrong? Are you having girl problems...or did the Cubs lose today?" That actually made me laugh.
  12. "I should go up to bat stoned all the time." - Jeff Weaver following his 2 RBI single.
  13. I don't care what angles Sutcliffe plays during the night. He's still better than Joe Morgan. Plus, he might start drinking. Amen and just in case Rick doesn't, I've started drinking for him. And I have just joined you.
  14. Pierre almost got drilled by that broken bat.
  15. I don't care what angles Sutcliffe plays during the night. He's still better than Joe Morgan. Plus, he might start drinking.
  16. According to Baseball Reference he never made the big leagues, and there's no mention of him in the baseball cube(although I doubt that TBC is comprehensive all the way back to Leyland's days). Leyland's playing stats were compiled with an abacus and are etched in stone tablets somewhere.
  17. Yup. Jacque had to hurry if he was going to have a chance to throw the runner out at home.
  18. It is SO unbelievable nice to tune in to the ESPN Sunday Night game and not hear Joe Morgan's voice. That alone will make this night so much better.
  19. Jacque walks to set up...the inevitable double play. Just watch.
  20. The Cubs have not had the most different pitchers make starts this year. Not surprisingly, the Royals have had 16 different pitchers take the mound to start the game.
