  1. Worked well there, I thought. I don't agree at all with the opinion either, but rolleyes as a response is stupid and immature, some might even interpret it worse than that. This is just part of the campaign though. Rolleyes doesn't do anything except aggravate people, hence my desire to see him eliminated. I like to use the rolleyes to show sarcasm in my post and I don't think that aggravates people. But I agree with you in the way the other poster used them. Brilliant post. I do what I can.
  2. I was thinking more along the lines of the theme to "The Natural" with slo-mo footage of some moon shots from right field. Circus music.
  3. I love this line. And I think this was a well written article as well.
  4. "Newman, Kramer, if you'll indulge me. According to your story Keith passes you and starts walking up the ramp then you say you were struck on the right temple. The spit then proceeds to ricochet off the temple striking Newman between the third and forth rib. The spit then cam off the rib turned and hit Newman in the right wrist causing him to drop his baseball cap. The spit then splashed off the wrist, pauses - in mid air mind you - makes a left turn and lands on Newman's left thigh. That is one magic luggie." This is what I thought of following what UK said about the ball bouncing to the left and right as well as straight up.

  6. Worked well there, I thought. Talking to a couple of guys who are around Gm's everyday, they tell me that to be successful, you have to take risk's. Risk's as in signing players like Dempster, Miller, Carpenter, etc. Guys who are coming off arm injuries, are a risk. I dont know what is so around to understand. A good example of this, is Kerry Wood. Some GM is going to take a RISK on him. No gurantee he will stay healthy, but there is always that chance he will stay healthy. That is considered a risk. Those risks are not the problem. It's the Rusch's, the Bynum's, the Neifi's and the Macias's that are the risks that should not EVER be taken. Signing those players isn't called taking a risk. It's called stupidity.
  7. go Aggies! UNC is usually pretty darn good though. We always seem to pick it up and play well against the better teams while suffering letdowns against the teams that aren't as good (with the exception of Sac State). Hopefully I will be able to attend all 5 home games this year.
  8. UC Davis at Northern Colorado at 12:35 PT
  9. Me too. Add me to that list. I hope hill contines to prove me right. BWAHAHAAha. Go ahead and gloat because you earned that right but be sure to readily admit when you are wrong.
  10. A couple of things. 1. I agree with the cyclical argument. For a few years, the Western Conference was absolutely dominant in the NBA and nobody thought the Eastern Conference had a chance to win the NBA title during the 5 years the Lakers and Spurs won the NBA titles. But now the Eastern Conference teams are much better. Last year both Miami and Detroit were considered serious contenders for the title while both Chicago and Cleveland were on the rise. The last two NBA finals have been up for grabs and most people were split as to picking which team would win. 2. If you took the DH out of the discussion then of course things would be different. For one, the White Sox would have never resigned Konerko AND traded for Jim Thome because they knew it would be hard to find spots in the order for both of them. The Red Sox wouldn't be hurt that much by David Ortiz playing in the field and they would have either traded Kevin Youkilis or found a place for him in the field. The list goes on. If a team wants a player they will find a place to put him. 3. This is related to #2. The difference would be solely dependent on that lost spot in the batting order. Rather than having another actual hitter batting a team must deal with a pitcher batting 2 or 3 times a game, which would have a big affect on a team's lineup.
  11. Me too. Add me to that list.
  12. Pujols should win the award. Also, in reference to the voters, I guarantee you that a couple writers will mention the fact that Pujols finished second behind Bonds in 2002 and 2003 as well as third behind Bonds and Beltre in 2004 and that should factor in.
  13. I'm surprised nobody quoted this just to show the picture again. I guess I'll have to do it.
  14. My name is Rachel Phelps, not Jeff Loria! http://www.fast-rewind.com/soms1.jpg she was trying to get the team moved to miami though further proof that girls should be kept out of baseball ;) Marge disagrees. Oh. My. Lord. I shuddered when I saw that picture. I'm going to have nightmares for a long time because of that face.
  15. 1. Santana 2. Halladay 3. Verlander
  16. Buy the first WS and build the farm after. I just want one.
  17. Starting in 2001 (Pierre's first full season) he has ranked 1st, T-10th, 2nd, 1st, 2nd in the majors in CS and is 1st this year.
  18. While, I can't argue with the Cubs being the biggest disappointment in baseball, I have to go with Cleveland as baseball's biggest disappointment, and here's why: Their talent level, is much higher then the Cubs (eveyrbody knew before the season, Hendry buiilt a 4th/5th place team), at a lower cost. They were predicted by most pundits to be the serious threat to the White Sox, not the Tigers or the Twins, and the Indians failed miserably. So, I will say the Indians have been a bigger disappointment. Agreed for the same reasons you stated. I would put the Indians first and the Cubs second on the list of biggest disappointments.
  19. Kerry Wood has started games for the Cubs. HAHAHA. That's a good one.
  20. Angel Pagan = Carlos Beltran Jr. of course.
  21. I have not read the Neyer/James book but I do agree with you and was not implying that the Cy Predictor is completely accurate. I do not think relievers should win the Cy at all. I was just saying that Z and Webb are much closer now than they were a month ago. I still have Webb first and Z second.
  22. Anybody find it odd that Dye is having a season that absolutely pales every single other season he's had? His numbers are so much better this season that it's ridiculous. I'm thinking 1996 Brady Anderson ridiculous. I'm not saying he's juicing, but you have to wonder..... That is the single dumbest thing I have ever read, EVER. Brady Anderson (in the four full seasons prior to 1996) averaged around 15 HR a year. He then hit 50. Jermaine has average 27 in his full seasons, and will most likely finish around 45. That's not that big of a disparity. I love how loosely everyone throws around accusations of steroids. I remember someone on the board making a comment about Prior, just because of his poor luck with injuries. Absolutely dreadful. Agreed and this is in response to chucky. If by 'steroids' you mean 'batting in a lineup with Paul Konerko and Jim Thome', then yes it has to be steroids.
