  1. Woo-hoo!!! I'm a moron for thinking Dempster should have been the closer this year. I can join Bill Simmons because 'Now I Can Die In Peace".
  2. Really? I hate to bring this up, but are we sure we're seeing what we think we're seeing (if you know what I mean)? It sucks that everytime a professional athlete does something remarkable, we as fans instantly think about whether or not the player is taking steroids?
  3. I really don't see any way the White Sox win again this year. Their pitching sucks. I don't like any of the NL teams against anybody against Detroit, and don't think Detroit will win a series. I think the Sox have more pitching than the Yankees and actually have the offensive firepower to compete with New York. I also think the White Sox offense would be too much for the A's pitching. Honestly, I originally had Minnesota winning the WC (and probably winning it all although I didn't get that far) but changed it to the White Sox while I was editing my post. So whoever ends up winning the AL WC (assuming it's either Minnesota or Chicago), that's who will be my favorite come playoff time.
  4. Dead last in the NL. It sure took longer than expected.
  5. KC and TB will have a tough time winning tonight. TB is already down 3-0 to the Twins, facing the defending AL Cy Young winner (who might be the 2006 winner as well). KC has a guy with an ERA pushing 8, going against Mike Mussina. The Cubs really need to find a way to lose tonight. I'll assume you mean you think Santana should have won the 2005 Cy Young because Bartolo Colon is the defending AL Cy Young winner. Santana won the award in 2004.
  6. It happened to me as well. It opens up a window to put in a username and password for http://www.msnusers.com.
  7. In other words, we can bet on it and if it doesn't work out that way you'll cover our losses? Do I get half of the winnings if I'm right?
  8. Don't waver and don't lose your confidence. I was in your shoes last year in the week leading up to the Stanford-UC Davis game. I kept telling people that Davis had a chance because Stanford wasn't that good. All I heard that week was "Davis is going to get killed" and "Davis is just a DI-AA team so they don't have a chance". I'm not going to lie, I thought Davis was going to lose but I did think it was going to be a very close game. I had so much fun calling everybody out that next week.
  9. Gophers are going to pull the upset. Not at Berkeley. GO BRUINS! I know Minnesota will likely lose but both of my parents went to Minnesota so I have to show my loyalty.
  10. The winner of the Ohio St-Texas game will go undefeated and will be in the BCS title game on January 8. Guaranteed. And I think it will be OSU.
  11. AL East: NYY AL Central: Det AL West: Oak AL WC: CHW NL East: NYM NL Central: StL NL West: LAD NL WC: Phi Oak over Det CHW over NYY NYM over LAD StL over Phi CHW over Oak NYM over StL CHW over NYM in 6
  12. Please don't let Z be seriously hurt.
  13. I bet if Pujols were having the great second half, you'd have argued differently :D Actually the best argument for him being MVP is the projected finish of 62 HR, around 160 RBI and an OPS of 1.060. Regardless of whether the Phillies make the playoffs, those stats are ridiculous. Pujols OPS = 1.104.
  14. Don't underestimate UC Davis. TCU didn't look very good and we dominated a decent Northern Colorado team. Don't get me wrong, I'm not expecting Davis to win but if TCU plays like it did against Baylor, they could get surprised.
  15. Gophers are going to pull the upset.
  16. You can if they're the defending national champs and had a no contest with a sun belt team. Calling a team without last year's QB or RB the "defending" national champs is kind of a contradiction in terms though. They still have an excellent defense. And I wouldn't consider it to be a contradiction in terms. This sort of thing happens all the time in sports both college and professional. The only difference in college is that it's expected because of graduation. Texas won the National Championship last year so they are the defending national champions. Every team is going to have turnover from year to year.
  17. Wow. Look at the IP for some of those guys. Rudy May pitched 12 innings, Vida blue pitched 11, and Rollie Fingers pitched 7 innings.
  18. If the Cubs lose today, they will have the worst record in the National League.
  19. That's part of the reason I don't think they will do very well. I think, at best, the Raiders will go 1-5 in the division. They also play at Baltimore, at Seattle, at Cincinnati, vs Pittsburgh, and vs Arizona. If they go even 2-3 in that stretch that puts them at 3-8 at best on the year.
  20. Wow. Miami and FSU combined for 3 rushing yards on 51 attempts in the game and just 310 total yards.
  21. We should get some sort of ATS pick 'em (friendly) contest going. I know Mark R would love that There is a fantasy pick em league for both college and pro that somebody started with Yahoo sports. There is a thread in the General Fantasy Sports Discussions forum.
  22. Technically, I guess. In a weird way.
  23. Stop antagonizing them, it will just make it worse around here  Ok now what is up with Lee Corso saying SC wont win a SEC title under Spurrier? This is absurd to be so sure that it wont happen. Florida wasnt the powerhouse they were until he got there and installed that offense. He can coach, recruit and stay out of trouble. Hell even Lou Holtz had a really good season and Spurrier is twice the coach he is. Speaking of Lou Holtz he is a complete ass on television. He constantly belittles Mark May and dribbles all over himself when he talks. Mark May needs to pile drive that POS into the newsdesk. Trev Alberts was in self love with himself but he at least made me laugh. I think its fair to say that our history is not the envy of college football. But how anyone can definitively say that Spurrier can't win the conference at USC is ridiculous. He's already recruiting well and has assembled a top notch coaching staff. He just donated $250,000 to our athletic department and he is pushing for the donations to improve our facilities. As for Corso in general, he's a pot-stirrer. That's it. If the guy really knew what he was talking about he might still be coaching. Lou Holtz is thoroughly unwatchable, just like our team under his direction in his last two seasons. Frankly, I was stunned when Corso said that. I thought Holtz was the only person who'd say idiotic stuff. When my friend and I heard Corso say that we were both shocked. It would be one thing to say that Spurrier wouldn't win a National Championship at South Carolina but it's insane to think that he won't win an SEC conference title at South Carolina.
